Private Fiery Past

Amaru Vusa

As a wandering Jedi, Amaru wasn't used to being on vessels as large as the Prosperity was. It was usually journeys on public transit to whatever world he felt, or his Master's own personal starship, but that was sometime ago. Since the day his Master had been killed, or captured, Amaru didn't know, the idea of riding a public transport vessel was simply not it. The concept of a Jedi ship? Well, it was definitely safer and not as likely to be boarded. What pirate would willingly board a ship full of countless Jedi?

Vusa wandered the halls.

Sleep was not a thing he got often. Haunted by past demons, Vusa's existence while awake consisted of physical and endurance training or reading. Probably about different fighting forms. Hand to hand was a subject that he didn't have the most experience in, which was why he ventured onto the Prosperity when he heard it was heading in the direction of Empress Teta, also known as the planet with the Great Library. Rumour had it that it held quite the collection in regards to past events, or at least, partial records, which was very much enough for the young Jedi Knight. Coupled with the fact that his Master had spoken very little of the place, despite being an active combatant in the One Sith and Galactic Republic War.

It wasn't even that long ago, Vusa thought. I was a kid. S'pose I was lucky being born in Hutt Space instead of a war torn Rim. Amusement riddled his features as he propped himself up against the entryway to the hangar bay, brown orbs looking about as a few people worked to prepare the shuttle that would going down to the planet. As far as he know, the Prosperity was going to spend the day in system before leaving the next day after it had reupped on fuel.

"Hey! Amaru, right?" The young knight approached, a little skip in her step. "Are you heading down to the Great Library as well?"

Auteme, of course, was quite literally jumping with joy. Not very high, and she did her best to hide it, but jumping nonetheless and with unrestrained joy. This was the sort of thing she lived for. There were a great many 'great libraries' across the galaxy but few were as magnificent as the one on Empress Teta. Without a doubt, the greatest of the Great Libraries. She'd only been there once before; she'd been thirteen, obviously not knowledgeable enough to truly appreciate the vast store of knowledge that it was. Since then a variety of things had gotten in the way of a potential visit; mostly the fact that she knew that if she entered those stacks she might never return.

It was through her position within the New Jedi Order that she was able to strike a balance. A few days aboard the Prosperity, a little talk with the masters, and look at that -- Empress Teta, and an excursion for the Jedi. In the hangar a group of padawans boarded the shuttle alongside their masters. Special research projects. Part of Auteme missed that kind of thing. The knights, though, were free to explore as they liked. Part of Auteme would never let go of that freedom.

Alas, there was one thing missing -- her own partner for this excursion. As it was, she didn't have anything to study; she'd probably go through the usual xenoculture/xenobiology/genetic experimentation/cloning/consciousness/philosophy/materialism/quantum physics cycle without something specific to search for. Plus, she found working with a friend to be so much fun. Unfortunately, her friends were neither nerds nor here.

It had been around then in her thought process that she'd walked into the hangar and spotted the young man who'd only recently joined the order. She gave him a warm smile. "I'm Auteme, by the way. I help out in the Archives, and they know everyone here. Sorry if I startled you."

The monotone flight deck officer voice grumbled over the PA. "I think we'd better get going," she said, starting towards the shuttle. She glanced back to Amaru. "What are you planning on studying when we get there?"

Amaru was mostly caught up within his own thoughts by the time Auteme Auteme pulled up on him. The sound of an unfamiliar voice drew him from back to the present and he cast a glance over his shoulder to land on the other Knight, instinctively giving a quick once over to the woman before straightening from his leaning in the doorway.

Huh--?” Blinking blankly at her as he regained himself. “Yeah. Maybe check out the Palace in Cinnagar too.” It likely didn’t hold as many historical artifacts that the Jedi would have access too, but the reasoning to go there was more for his own sake. Wars had been fought on this planet. Long ago and during their actual lifetime. Even without the blessed Kiffar gift of Psychometry, he could somewhat feel events that had passed if he tapped in to the Force and focused enough.

"No worries, Auteme," his dark lips spreading apart to flash a charming smile in her direction when she apologized as a way to convey that he hadn't really been bothered by her interruption at all. Probably for the best anyway. "Sure," he says, long strides taken slowly while he looks ahead to the ship. "You've got a good name for a Jedi, y'know. Makes you feel... Warm inside," fingers hooking into the loops of his belt casually before she continued on about what he sought to study.

"Combat forms, if they've got any. Otherwise, I like to read about the great battles." Clambering onto the shuttle, he glanced behind them to ensure they were the last two on before signaling to shut the ramp and begin take off. "What about you?"
