Kuhbee woke before the Temple chimes had even begun their gentle morning song. For a moment, the young Wookiee Padawan simply lay there in his dormitory bunk, blinking sleep from his eyes, watching the soft Naboo sunlight begin to spill through the tall arched windows. The air was cool and quiet, full of promise. Today wasn't just any training day.

Today he would be working with a new Jedi Knight.

His ears perked with excitement, fur fluffing lightly as he sat up. The Masters didn't rotate instructors often, so when they did, it meant something special such as a fresh style, a new perspective, a challenge waiting to be tackled. Kuhbee could practically feel the eagerness bubbling inside him, like a starship engine warming before takeoff.

Kuhbee rolled out of bed and began his morning stretches. First, a long reach to the ceiling beams, claws brushing the wood. Then a deep bend forward, arms dangling, muscles loosening. His body rumbled with a satisfied hrrrmmm as joints cracked gently back into place. Being a Wookiee meant carrying a lot of strength—strength that needed to be treated with discipline. Master Reta once reminded him:

"A powerful body is a gift, Kuhbee. But a prepared body is a tool."

With that in mind, he stretched slow and deliberate, savoring the familiar burn and flow of waking muscles. Once limbered, Kuhbee knelt on the simple mat beside his bunk. He closed his eyes. Let his breath deepen. Let the hum of the Naboo morning fold around him like a warm cloak. He felt the rustling gardens outside. The quiet murmur of water flowing through the Temple's decorative channels. Even the faint stirrings of other Padawans waking for their own lessons.

Then, deeper still, he steady presence of the Force, resting beneath everything. It glowed like a calm sun, gentle yet vast, guiding his heartbeat into peace. Today would be about learning. About listening. About meeting a new Knight with respect, curiosity, and an open mind. Kuhbee let his excitement settle into focus.

hen he rose, he was centered. Ready.

After a quick brushing of his fur, because training or not, it was important to look presentable, Kuhbee slung his practice sash over his shoulder and stepped into the hallway. Other Padawans whispered greetings as he padded past, his footsteps steady on the polished stone floors.

The Temple felt alive this morning. As if it, too, sensed something new on the horizon.

By the time Kuhbee reached the dojo, a wide chamber with smooth wooden floors, hanging banners, and the faint scent of incense, his pulse had settled into a steady rhythm. He paused at the threshold, inhaled deeply, and allowed the Force to flow through him once more.

Today he would meet a new teacher. Today he would grow. And he was ready.

Kuhbee stepped forward into the dojo, eager for whatever awaited him.

The first time. This was Lily's first time giving a lesson now that she was a Jedi Knight. It was a strange sensation.

Tying her hair as she looked herself in the mirror, Lily breathed in deeply as she thought about the various ways in which Lily could do the lesson today. She had some idea on how to approach the class, lessons on combat and learning the physical language was something Lily always found easy to teach. Throughout her time as a Padawan, she had spent time with others, showing them how Echani fought, how Lily interpreted the Lightsaber forms and how she moved with the effortless grace that she naturally had.

Entering the room, Lily looked over to Kuhbee, she bowed her head to him. She had asked around and learned about the Padawan best that she could for the training session. It was important to know the person she was training beforehand so that she could best prepare for the lesson in her mind. Lily noticed the translation droid and felt a small relief since her Shyriiwook was far from fluent. It was one of the few languages that she did not get around to learning.

"Call me Lily, don't worry about titles." Lily forewarned the Padawan, she was never one to stress over titles in the Order. Skill and action was what made a Jedi stand out, not their rank. "I hear that you are interested in learning some combat stuff? I have been training in combat for many years now, and focused most of my Jedi training on mastering the Lightsaber combat forms." Lily mentioned her background, her experiences as a Jedi to better inform Kuhbee on what he could expect from Lily as an instructor.

Heading over to a table, Lily selected a training stick, feeling the weight in her hands. It had been a long time since she had used one but it was always good to utilise them in the beginning of training. "How about we start with a little sparring so that we can learn about each other in a way that words cannot express?" Lily suggested, offering a second training stick for Kuhbee to use.

Kuhbee paused when Lily entered, his tall, furred frame straightening instinctively. At her bow, he returned the gesture—one massive arm crossing his chest, head dipping with deliberate care. The soft whirr of the translation droid followed him as he shifted his weight, a low, thoughtful rumble escaping his throat.

"Grr Arrgg Griooo"

(Thank you Master.....) the droid rendered, a fraction of a second behind his voice. (…Lily,) it corrected, picking up on her preference.

He glanced around the room, taking in the space the way a Wookiee did, by imagining movement through it. His dark eyes returned to Lily, attentive, curious, not fearful. There was respect there, but not distance.

At the mention of combat, Kuhbee's ears twitched slightly. Another low sound, this one touched with something like restrained eagerness. Kuhbee was a powerful ball of energy. He picked up one of the parring sticks and growled gently, feeling the weight in his hand. He was ready for what today would throw at him, or so he hoped.

Twirling the training sword in her hand, it was always interesting to feel the practice sword in her hand. It have been over a decade since she had used any training weapon for more than a single fight. There was something about a dangerous weapon that made the body move differently than one where there was a level of safety to it.

"It is good that the idea of a fight energises you. I will be teaching you what I have learned about the Lightsaber forms, as well as what I have learned to add to them since I have learned many forms of combat style." Lily stated, there was a level of professionalism to her tone, trying to come across as a teacher. Though she was still very young herself and this was the first time teaching anything. "Many will say that these combat forms are about survival, that mastering them will increase your chances to survive. However, I view a fight very differently. It is never about being a master, or knowing every move to make perfectly."

Moving to the centre of the room, Lily stood for a moment before adopting the traditional stance for Djem So, "the important part of any fight is knowing your opponent. Knowing their next move. Understanding the ways in which they fight and the ways in which they express themselves." Lily clarified, since this was her first lesson but also the first time she was teaching someone about combat, Lily figured it would make sense to offer an explanation for how she approached fighting.

"However, I have talked enough now and I am curious to see what you have learned, what you can learn about me and what I can see in you." Lily said as she waited for Kuhbee to move into position so their fight could begin.
