PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
The only aspect of Mirialan culture that Farris would demonstrate is a spiritual relationship with the Force. When she has floundered in trying to make sense of life’s hardships, she has let go and trusted in the Force. She believes it controls all events large and small, and that it is not bound to a black-and-white view of wrong or right.
She does not sport any tattoos regularly seen on Mirialans, demonstrating her background was atypical of most.
Even among the Jedi she would be viewed as analytical and frosty, keeping her eye laser-focused on the objective at hand and reserving her energy toward grueling lightsaber sessions over idle conversations.
A figure of sharp proportions and even sharper intent, she speaks with a low, direct cadence that demands a response while keeping her own emotions in check.
It is very common to find her in public or private spaces in quiet meditation, where she has no issues openly expressing her steadfast commitment to trusting in the Force.
She also has private interests that range from physical fitness and intermittent fasting to outdoor survival, where she would rather sleep out among open skies than under any roof.
STRENGTHS
Agility
Like many Mirialans she remains very flexible and limber. Adding to that would be her daily regime of warming up with stretches first and then forcing herself into grueling lightsaber routines with the saberstaff, which is able to break into twin lightsabers when needed.
Her mastery style is Form I, the Way of the Sarlacc. In combat her blades would be wild and sporadic like tentacles in the air, harsh and unpredictable.
Force Cloaking
After years of concentration she has developed strong ability with Force cloaking or camouflage. If she remains still and concentrates she can alter her appearance to common people who are not Foce-attuned, bending their perceptions so she does not register as very important or threatening to them, almost as if they can hardly remember anything about her face even if they are looking at her.
This ability declines with Force-trained individuals, depending on their level of training.
It of course works extremely well with wild animals. To dim-witted creatures she can bend their perception so that she seems very non-threatening to them, as if she were a boulder.
Dancing
Trained by Madame Vesspereta’s School of Dance on Oba Diah since childhood, Farris is able to move as fluidly as water when the circumstances call for it. Her moves would be a mixture of ballet-inspired footwork and wild freestyle.
WEAKNESSES
Interpersonal Relationships
Being that she hailed from a criminal background, she would most often feel out of place in the serene walls of a Jedi temple. Because of this she is either nearly always outdoors or away on a mission.
To most other Jedi and certainly to everyday folks she would register as vaguely cold or impartial. Also given her track history of preferring to work alone (she was a rare case of being passed over as a Padawan but still earning a Knighthood trial independently), she would be regarded as something of an anomaly among the greater Jedi population rather than the rule.
Intermittent Dark-Sided Whimsies
The thing creating an unpredictable streak in her career and relationships would be her history. Once infected with a rare, psychedelic mountain leech from Oba Diah that corrupts Force-attuned individuals, Farris still struggles with the aftermath of it once inhabiting her body. Although the leech was later removed from her system, traces of its blood will remain entangled with her own.
Due to the unexplored nature of the leech and how it feeds, she has no answers for when she experiences things like dark-sided hallucinations or impulsive thoughts. Most often they happen during times of stress or anxiety, so she battles hard to regulate her emotions and avoid getting overwhelmed.
However as a Jedi Knight you can only avoid stress for so long; these “glitches”are likely to sprout up more often and become more severe if left unchecked.
HISTORY
Little is known of Farris’ birthplace, other than she was born on a vessel somewhere out in the Outer Rim.
More likely she was stolen from her parents by members of Madame Vesspereta’s School of Dance, a ballet institution that also has ties to the underworlds of Oba Diah and Kessel, providing entertainment for the public but taking in credits to fund the spice trade that is rampant on Kessel.
Regardless of where she began, she was taken into the prestigious school and worked tirelessly to become a figure of neat precision and restrained beauty.
The Force as it swirled around her was sensed by a wealthy Umbaran patron of the school, a pale, gigantic man who had spent years hunting Sith artifacts and studying mind control.
He earned his money as a slave driver for the spice mines on Kessel, where he tricked into lost souls into working their lives away in the mines. He did this partially by infecting them with a strange mountain leech that has rarely been documented in galactic databases.
The leech feeds off of the life energy of those infected on the skin; in Force users, it can be worse, as it slowly corrupts them into giving in to dark-sided temptations and drives them mad.
Once the leech had attached itself to Farris, a young girl at this point, the Umbaran man used her as his Force-sensitive enforcer, guiding her to inflict pain and anguish on any slaves who resisted working the mines.
Her name was soon whispered in fear in the shadowed mining corners of Kessel - the ballet dancer from Oba Diah, the dark girl who carried out her Master’s bidding.
Her unintentional reign of terror was brought to an end when she was fifteen. A team of Jedi -sent by the Alliance to attempt to stamp out the horrors of the slave trade - discovered the Umbaran man and his Mirialan apprentice, as she wielded a laser whip against them using the Force.
The Umbaran was killed in the battle and a couple of Jedi also lost their lives. Rather than punish her for her misguided actions, the survivors took her back with them after removing the leech from her back.
At sixteen she began to pursue the path of the Jedi, where she was a natural in lightsaber combat, although she struggled to connect with her peers and frequently gave in to anger.
Over the years she mastered the emotional detachment that could separate her from the darker desires that sometimes crept into her mind at night, turning into a well-oiled machine of quiet determination and razor-sharp agility.
After building a lightsaber of her own she eventually passed a Knighthood trial conducted on the frigid world Tokmia, where she infiltrated and arrested a rogue Mandalorian death gang who had been terrorizing settlers.
She kept her blue-plated chest armor from that mission, because it marked a significant event in which she had resisted the call of the dark side and restrained herself from exterminating the entire gang.
