STRENGTHS
+Sharpshooter: Even before becoming one of the Fedayeen, Farouk was instructed in the ways of a blaster. In order to survive in the slums, he had to be handy with a blaster to kill food from the various vermin. He has since honed his skills, becoming a valuable sharpshooter and sniper for the Fedayeen.
+Streetwise: Farouk was born in the slums of his village. From this, he knows how to navigate and blend in with the underworld of Kandara. Additionally, this gives him level of expertise connecting with such people.
+Martial Artist: In addition to his skills as a gunman, Farouk also learned how to fight with his hands on the streets. He employs a type of street brawler type martial art, along with skills in knife fighting.
WEAKNESSES
-Young: While a good soldier, Farouk is still young. He can come off as naive and cocky. This sometimes gets him into more trouble than he needs to be. It also gets his superiors irate with him on the occasions his foolhardiness endangers a mission.
-Xenophobic: Like many of his people, Farouk is distrustful of aliens. He only barely tolerates near humans because of the resemblance to Baseline Humanity. As such, he finds it difficult to work with the alien operatives of the Empire.
PERSONALITY
For the most part, Farouk is a good natured young man. He is very friendly toward his fellow Fedayeen and Kandarans, and at least cordial with most human (or passing for human) outsiders. But, he has a vehement hatred of aliens, the distillation of the infamous xenophobia of Kandarans. There is also a cockiness and naivety that comes with his youth, and a sly side from having to navigate the slums.
BIOGRAPHY
Growing up on the streets makes one ready to survive by any means. Nobody knows this better than a Kandaran boy known as Farouk. His family were once merchants whose business had failed, leading to a life in the slums of their town. As a boy, the more privileged children near his home gave him a nickname that he has taken as his own: al-jaradh, "the rat", because he was often scavenging and thieving for food like a rat in a grain storage. He since took it as a compliment on his resourcefulness.
As he grew older, his father and older brothers taught him how to use a rifle to hunt whatever game thrived in the wilderness outside of their Village. His skills as a sharpshooter became horned, eventually catching the eye of Fedayeen who was originally out to arrest the boy. With some convincing, Farouk joined up with the Kandaran Fedayeen, with the stipulation that any of his shares in wealth went home to his family to secure a livelihood for them.
He now serves a sniper and rifleman for the Fedayeen, just as a remnant of the old Empire has returned to Kandara. He seeks to bring prosperity back to Kandara through this new alliance with the Imperial Confederation, so that none would feel the same struggle he did growing up.
