GENERAL INFORMATION
Name: The Flyood tree
Origins:
Ryloth
Other Locations: Tree and leaves that grow on it are specific to Ryloth
Classification: Tree
Average Growth Cycle: One of these trees takes 70 to 100 years to fully mature.
Viability: Despite it’s ability to grow in a wide range of environmental conditions, the Flyood tree needs a special type of soil found only on Ryloth. The tree produces small, round nuts that must be planted into the soil for the tree to grow. With a sufficient amount of watering, at least a few inches a week, especially when the plant is young, one would see the beginnings of trunk within a few years. After it has left a juvenile root stage, the watering can become less consistent and the tree will still grow. It won’t grow to it’s full height and strength for longer, but it will still grow with a lesser amount of water. However, if the tree is consistently receiving water it will grow to it’s full stature on the early side of the 70 years.
Description: One would never describe the Flyood as a pretty tree. It’s branches look gnarled and twisty as they reach out toward the sky, their resin coated leaves glimmering light in the sunlight. Only adding to it’s worrisome appearance is the extremely dark wood, showing practically no grain whatsoever. The truck that the grarly looking branches spring from is massive in diameter. While the tree isn’t the tallest, it’s massive trunk stays around the same size all the way to the top.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Average Height: 11m-14m
Average Length: 3m-4m around
Color: Extremely dark wood, lacking any sort of noticeable grain. It’s leaves are a light green color, except in certain timely circumstances, and have a noticeable sheen to them
Nutritional Value: None
Toxicity: One must be careful when walking among the Falyood, as their wood, before it is harvested, can cause some minor respitory and sight problems without proper protection. Gloves and a face covering are highly recommended.
Other Effects: If collected correctly, the sap of Falyood can be used as a soap substitute for bathing once hardened.
Distinctions: While the extremely dark wood of the tree are quite distinctive enough, it is how hard the tree is to cut down that also gives it a very prized nature in the galaxy. On the same level as some of Kashyyyk’s most prized trees, the Falyood takes quite a lot of effort to cut down. Once cut, sizing it down is also quite hard, but it ends up producing some beautiful creations once done.

Strengths:
Strong as an ox: Very few trees in the galaxy can provide competition to the Falyood for a tougher or stronger tree. They’ve been studied to be resistant against cutting, acid, and even semi-resistant to fire. Though nothing will last forever against an industrial cutter, the Falyood truly stands tall for a long time.
Beautiful creation: The dark wood of the Falyood can create some of the most beautiful furniture, decorations, and dining utensils in the galaxy, and are prized for being so.

Weaknesses:
Rare prize: The combination of how hard it is to cut down these trees, as well as their non-existance outside of Ryloth, make these trees very hard to get your hands on. This only serves to drive up the price of the wood.
Long wait: Falyood does not grow quickly, even with a magical touch trying to speed it up. To see it grow from sprout to it’s full height takes practically a lifetime.
Do not touch: The toxicity of the trees prior to them being cut down requires protective equipment to be worn. Touching or breathing near them without that protective covering can make one feel a decent amount of discomfort for a few days afterword.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The twi’lek of Ryloth have prized the Falyood for as long as they’ve had the means to protect and cut them down. The wood is seen as a status symbol among their people, symbolizing the wealth the wielder must have to be able to afford such beautiful and rare materials. For the early kings of the twi’lek people, some even were able to build small homes out of the wood, which still stand to this day.
