Diplomacy was always Stephan's forte, not hers. He had gone to politicoschool while she was given a jedi instructor, that was what they were good at. But her mothers had insisted it be her, these people were Jedi, she was a Jedi, that somehow made it make sense. Since the collapse of the galactic alliance, supplying the Ashlan Remnant's fleet and and people, not considering the millions of cloned sister's of Ashla had become... complex. The high Republic was the largest government in the area that were likely to not be hostile so Fallon would come as a vanguard and make friends, test the waters a little before her parents risked a full diplomatic envoy, there was even dreams of requesting planetary settlement rights, the idea of a devout ashlan world surrounded by friendly space. But that was a long way off

Either way, Fallon was very excited, the Republic bordered the Empire of the Bogan and an oppurtunity to strike at the Sith was always appreciated. Her ship swooped low over the plains of naboo and Fallon put her fist over her mouth to prevent herself puking from flight sickness. She needed to land on the outskirts of the temple grounds and compose herself before making the last part of the trip, it would do her no good to introduce herself while still feeling the effects of this accursed nausea.

She flipped a switch and SAINT AI updated her mission profile. The location of the Republic Jedi Temple, formerly the Shirayan Temple, local settlements and tracking data of other airborne targets including a little N-1 that she could have sworn was shadowing her.

Fallon found a clearing, felt the awful, vertigo inducing feeling of the landing roll one more time and set her ship down. Within a few minutes she was out of her ship in her black leather trousers and white overcoat decorated at the waist with a golden sash woven with Ashan iconography. Her AI told her she was only a couple of kilometres from the temple so she might just walk.

Braze had been very busy with a plethora of tasks since his last face to face with Jand Talo Jand Talo . One such task was digging up information on the Sith's Pillars of Power and political heiarchy, as ever one of his ongoing duties as a Jedi Shadow. This time, though, he needed to understand both sides of the fence. He had never met anyone from the High Republic, nor had he ever set foot in the temple on Naboo. He was here to pay a visit and see if he would be welcomed.

He stood out front, wrapped in his long black, fur lined traveler's cloak, when his peripheral Force sight caught the presence of another figure heading toward the temple. He turned to glance toward Fallon Draellix-Kobitana Fallon Draellix-Kobitana and paused, blinking as that glance sharpened into a hard stare. Her regalia brought a flood of memories crashing back: the moment he had severed the hands of an Ashlan Crusader Captain in a double cho mai, both of the attacker's hands taken in a single mou kei combination to free Aliris Tremiru Aliris Tremiru . The recollection stirred an uneasy weight in his chest.

Without thinking, he flexed his fingers inside the cloak, as if reassuring himself his own hands were still there. For a heartbeat he could almost smell scorched leather and feel the vibration of the blades biting through bone. He drew a slow breath through his nose, letting the living Force around the temple grounds wash over him instead, cool air and wet grass and distant water. This woman was not that Captain. Her light felt different, sharper at the edges, but not the same kind of hunger.

His gaze tracked the sky for a moment before dropping back to her approach. Shadow instincts wanted him to simply fade back into stone and watch, collect details, report later. Instead, he shifted his weight forward and stepped down off the stair, cloak whispering around his boots as he moved to meet her on the path.

When he spoke his voice was even, only a hint of roughness at the edges. "You are not far from the temple gates," he offered in greeting, head tilting just a little to offer a polite bow. "If you are looking for the Republic Jedi, you are walking the right way."

Ala-project-2.png

Ala had been on her way down toward the outer herb gardens. It was an excuse, really, to put physical distance between herself and the paperwork waiting upstairs, when two signatures pressed lightly at the edge of her senses.

One she knew. The other…she remembered.

Her steps slowed. A little tilt of her head, a smile that curled just one corner of her lips. She felt Braze before she saw him, that familiar, shadow-quiet presence brushing like a sleeve against the wind. And, just to amuse herself, she narrowed her eyes the moment she spotted him on the path, giving him the look. Not suspicious in any serious way. More a teasing, I see you, troublemaker, kind of narrow.

But she didn’t say a word. She only lifted her brows at him as if to say — "Behaving yourself today? Hm? Good."

Then her gaze shifted to the newcomer. Her face was bright, warm, and immediately soft.

Ohhh, Ala breathed, stepping forward with that bubbly, almost buoyant sway of hers, “now there’s a light I haven’t felt in a long time…”

The Ashlan traditions left their mark on anyone who’d lived among them. The zealotry had been…a time. A necessary refuge after the Bryn’adûl broke her body and mind. But the people, some of them, at least, had been kind. Fallon’s presence stirred the memory of those early days. Recovering. Learning to walk properly again. Learning to laugh again.

Ala’s smile widened.

“Welcome to Naboo, and welcome to the Temple. You look like you’ve had a very long flight.” A pointed glance at Fallon’s posture, the faint waver in her step that only the experienced could read. “I won’t tell anyone if you won’t.”

She rocked onto her heels, hands clasped behind her back in a posture so harmless, so sweetly unserious, that it was almost impossible to imagine she had rank of any kind. And she liked it that way.

“You’ve met Braze already, I see.” Another glance his way, eyes still narrowed playfully, just daring him to react. “Surprised to see me here, Braze?” She gave a soft laugh. The turned back to Fallon. “Come. Let’s get you both inside before the humidity eats us alive. The Temple makes a far better first impression when you’re not about to faint or melt.”

Had she spent too much time chasing sith round forests? Perhaps, as she felt her hand instinctively reaching for her lightsaber as she felt and and saw the other approach her position. His spiked white hair and green eyes gave him a striking visage but Fallon instantly relaxed as he approached showing no signs of aggression. She had to remember, this was Naboo.

She whipped her gold sash to one side and returned the bow. "Fallon Draellix-Kobitana at your service." She said grasciously, hoping to be welcomed warmly by the young man who seemed to know where she was headed. "A Jedi, I presume? I do seek your Temple, I didn't want to just land on one of your pads. You know how it is." she laughed. They probably wouldnt have minded to be honest, but she didnt fancy being mistaken for a miriallan when she stepped out of her ship in her all to typical post flight state.

Another approached, this one SAINT recognised from the old Ashlan database and her biochip handed her a name. She wouldnt use it, as much as she valued the tech, she found it made social situations uncomfortable, and she just got the strange impression that something was amiss there. Fallon was born after the fall of the Ashlan Kaiseriech a few years after her mother the Prime Minister had turned her back on Demici so there was gaps in her own knowledge as much as she studied.

"Ive been far too in space long" she replied with a curl in the corner of her smile, was her discomfort as obvious as that? Quinn's words seemed almost code to not share too much, but what? She had an idea, she might ask later when they were alone.

"How long has the temple been active? Ive heard its quite beautiful, you Nabooians have quite the flair for architecture, it reminds me a little of Ession actually." she fell into step with them. "So its Braze and.... " she would offer Ala the chance to give her name so she didn't accidently give the game away.

"This is my first time visiting here, so I am unfortunately unfamiliar with their security protocols. I was raised primarily on Coruscant and Tython," Braze explained to the rosenett woman, offering enough information to be polite without confirming or denying his current standing as Jedi. When he worked Temple Guard duties with Ko Vuto Ko Vuto they were usually sent to older historical sites, handling whatever needed cleaning up. This Naboo temple had been on his personal list to visit for some time.

A familiar voice pulled his attention and he turned toward Ala Quin Ala Quin . His white brows lifted together, that pale jade green gaze settling on her as she asked if he was surprised. He was, admittedly, somewhat caught off guard to find her in a place like this, but considering their proximity to the temple ahead, perhaps a certain truth was becoming clearer given their past interactions. "Admittedly yes," he answered. "Though it is a pleasant one," he added, his normally terse tone softening a little.

"Your offer of hospitality is a gracious one," he replied to Ala Quin Ala Quin , giving her a respectful bow, drawing one fist into an open hand and crossing one foot slightly ahead as he dipped forward. Once upright, he settled back into his usual steady posture.

His attention shifted again to Fallon Draellix-Kobitana Fallon Draellix-Kobitana . "Yes, you may call me Braze. Though I would also like to know the name of our most gracious host, so I can show proper respect."
He chirped padding up the last of the steps ready to follow after the small woman, it was after all rare that Braze was taller than any one around him.

Ala blinked up at Fallon with a bright, far-too-cheerful smile, the kind that suggested either deep serenity or a complete lack of sense. Possibly both.

“Oh, landing pads,” she said with a dramatic little sigh, waving a hand as though shooing away a swarm of gnats. “Terribly stiff places. Always expecting you to walk out looking composed. Awful expectations, really.”

She stepped lightly to Fallon’s side, rocking on her heels as if barely tethered to the ground. “You’re doing very well, by the way. Only a little green. Mostly pink.” She gave a tiny wink.

Her gaze darted to Braze again, eyes narrowing suspiciously, but in that unmistakably teasing way she had with him. “Look at him, standing all tall and proper. And such a fine outfit too.” Her gaze lingered for a heartbeat. “You should see him when he thinks no one is watching. Much more wiggly.”

She clasped her hands behind her back and began walking backwards toward the inside of the temple, chin lifted, curls bouncing. “Come, come. The Temple is open to all. And yes, the architecture is beautiful. Naboo likes to show off a bit.” A conspiratorial whisper followed. “It’s allowed. We let it.”

To Fallon’s gentle prompt for a name, Ala brightened as if delighted to be asked. “Oh! I’m Ala.” No title. No rank. No fanfare. Just Ala. Small, bright-eyed, and utterly harmless-looking.

She tilted her head, curls spilling over one shoulder. “And I promise, once we reach the fountains, everything will feel less wibbly. Water fixes most things. Except paperwork. I’ve tried.”

With a skip of her step and a delighted little spin, she motioned them to follow. “Come along then! Before Braze starts bowing again...we’ll never get anywhere.”

Fair enough, he was new here too, strange coincidence though so she wasnt entirely sure whether to believe him, what he said did hit a note in her though. "Security protocols of an unknown jedi temple? I cant say I'm not a little tempted to see if I could sneak in there undetected. Maybe not though, wouldnt be the best first impression." she laughed. She was feeling better now, finally on terrafirma and thinking about things she enjoyed to do.

Ala poked her a couple of times about her appearing "wibbly" was it that obvious she felt so uncomfortable. She looked at her wrist mounted comm pretending to read a message but using the camera to check her appearance and her bio chip to check her vitals. No, she looked normal, maybe half a shade from her usual tone but not like she might lose her lunch.

She looked at Ala. "Has there been many Ashlans through here? This is our (speaking of her own specific remnant group) first venture into Naboo's local space.

The stepped over some a recently fallen branch from a giant tree that bore soft golden coloured fruits. She grabbed one on the way past and began to play with it in her hand. Her biochip gave her a couple of options what it might be but she didnt like to entirely trust it on an unknown world. "These edible? I think i'm beginning to get my appetite back."

The temple was getting closer now, they would not be long until they arrived.

Braze was fairly quiet content to watch and follow the women. The diminutive half Echani's steps made barely a sound as he padded after seemingly allowing the women to walk a head of himself.

Seeing as Fallon addressed Ala about the Ashalan's braze decidedly kept his mouth shut about the one he's crossed paths with some years ago. Gidgit Fluttered off his shoulder taking a few scans of the new environment when they reached the fountains. Braze peered over a small stone wall at his own reflection as he looked in to one of the fountains.

"I suppose you've volunteered to be our guide here Miss Ala?"

Casaana had been out for a walk among the hills and trees surrounding the Jedi temple when she'd seen a strange feeling, four-armed ship fly overhead. Curious, she set off at a jog back towards the temple, figuring, where else would someone go? Coming up the path, she saw the Grandmaster with a pink-haired woman she didn't recognize and, "Braze!" She joyously called out, breaking into a sprint for him, arms wide. She hadn't seen him in a little while and was terribly excited he'd finally given in to her pleading that he visit Naboo and at least give the Jedi Order here a try. They'd treat him so much better than their previous one in the Galactic Alliance would.

Instead of stopping, the girl ran full-tilt into Braze, jumping at the last minute into his open arms as she wrapped him up in a tight hug, letting him spin her around in front of the fountains. "You made it! Oh, and you brought a girlfriend? Hi!" she called out, waving to the pink hair Jedi over Braze's shoulder. "Was that your ship I saw come in? It's so neat! Do you control all the arms separately, are they linked, or automatic? Also, don't play with those or Miss Grandmaster will get after you for wasting food," she nodded towards the fruit Fallon was holding. "She already got after me for throwing some into the paths of ships passing below the pads. But, like, we've got a lot."

Ala perked up when Fallon mentioned the Ashlans, her eyes going wide as though she hadn’t expected the question at all...despite absolutely expecting it. “Oh! Yes! Ashlans. I know them quite well, actually.” She wiggled her fingers, as if shaking off an old memory. “Very briefly one of them myself. For a tiny amount of time. I was very fragile then. And very confused. And very impressionable. And very...well, you get it.”

A smirk flickered toward Braze, light, mischievous. “You’d have hated me. I wore so much gold.

When Fallon lifted the golden fruit, Ala clapped her hands softly. “Oh yes, those! They’re edible. Mostly. Somewhat. Depending on how heroic you’re feeling. Very sweet, very sticky, very ‘why did I eat that’ about ten minutes later.” She leaned closer and whispered, “Casaana once...”

As if conjuring the youngster, Casaana exploded into view, all limbs, joy, and velocity, slamming into Braze with enough enthusiasm to fracture a weaker Jedi. Ala’s whole face lit up like a lantern.

“Oh! Look at that! Young love everywhere today!” She pressed her hands to her cheeks, thrilled. “Braze, you didn’t tell me! Fallon, you didn’t tell me! You two hide it so well! I’m usually so good at spotting these things! When did this happen? How did this happen? Was it in a forest? Was there danger? Was it dramatic? I bet it was dramatic. You both look like dramatic people.”

She gestured vaguely toward the Temple’s grand façade. “This is the entrance, by the way. Those are fountains! Very wet. Very fountainy. But never mind that...you must tell me everything.”

Ala hurried a few steps ahead, walking backward to face them, curls bobbing, hands clasped behind her back. “So...who confessed first? Don’t tell me it was Braze. I’ll faint.”

A third greeter arrived just as Braze seemed to be hanging back a little and perhaps ready for the newcomer to sprint past them into his arms excitedly. It was kind of adorable, Fallon had been brought up in a home where affection was celebrated.

"Yeah, Its an LS-ESF defender, the legs are all automated, for me anyway, I suppose a better pilot could take manual control? To be honest, i'm just glad to be on the ground. I'm Fallon its.... wait? Did you? Oh no..." she laughed, her laugh increasing with the effervescent Ala babbled her way to the same conclusion. "No, I'm not this gentleman's girlfriend. I've no doubt the lady in question would be a lucky woman, but she is not me." She finished her sentence with a shrug and took a bit of the fruit. It was sickly sweet and syrups she was warned, but it tasted nice and spoke to her sweet tooth. She wouldnt take much though, just in case

As they walked up to the fountains, Fallin ran her hand in the cold water and looked at Braze. "I feel like we've missed a trick here, could have pretended and had some fun, oh well.

So I wasnt around during the Ashlan heyday, I was born a few years too late, but mum made sure I was raised Ashlan."
she flipped the end of the Ashlan sash with her fingers to emphasise it. Her pride in her faith was obvious. The fruit was now biting her back so she took a long draught from her canteen.

He glanced toward Ala at the mention of hate, his nose wrinkling at the mental image of her draped in long sattin golds. White and gold looked nice to gether but lots of gold could either be elegant or gaudy...

Braze barely had a moment to process such an image before Casaana shouted his name from across the court yard. He turned just in time as she came running. His arms opened wide in anticipation and he dropped his center of gravity, bending his knees so he would not be knocked straight over. The impact hit him just as expected. He caught her in a tight hug and spun with her to bleed off the momentum, holding on firmly until everything came to a gentle rest. Only then did he set her down with care, mindful not to send her tumbling into the fountain, despite his intrusive thoughts.

"Yes, I did make it. Wait... girl… what?" She was gone before he could even complete the thought, already launching into a barrage of questions aimed at the woman nearby.

The accusatory tone that followed made him glance helplessly toward Fallon. Then he looked between Casaana and Ala again, brows drawing together in a furrowed exspression, as he gave the girl a strange look, almost as if he were about to scold her for putting him through this.

His focus shifted back to Ala, then to Fallon. She was… striking. The soft pink hair and those bright eyes reminded him of Aliris Tremiru Aliris Tremiru . Whether it was Fallon's own beauty or the lingering association of similar colors, he could not tell. And both of course remiinded him of... Tessa. His mind spun with too many thoughts at once and none of them were helping. Miss Ala's comments did nothing to ease the rush of flustered nonsense bubbling through his head.

A faint blush crept across his pale features, dusting the bridge of his nose and soreading towards the very tips of his ears. He shook his head lightly, trying to chase away the ridiculous thoughts as he felt ten kinds of abashment. Fallon's correction came as a relief.

"No, Casanna. She is not my girlfriend… and you flatter me greatly. Fallon is a lovely woman. Anyone would be lucky just to earn her attention." His voice left him in a slow, soft breath as he tried not to get flustered by an attractive woman finding him aesthetically pleasing. This was not the sort of attention he was prepared for today. "Miss Ala, please I beg of you... show me mercy. I just got here. At least let me settle in before you start writing romance novels about me." he offered in reply to her questions.

"It could have been a fine bit of theater. Should another moment offer itself, consider your name penned in reserve near the top of my dance card for you Miss Fallon."
Still, he gathered himself and checked his pockets before pulling out a small velvet satchel. He offered it to Casaana with a gentle nod. "I got these for you."

Inside, nestled carefully, were assorted truffles filled with flavored creams and ganaches.

As Ala went on, Casaana laughed and rolled her eyes at the over the top performance, enjoying that for once someone in charge wasn't overly serious and demanding perfect decorum at all times. Peaking over Braze's shoulder, she listened to Fallon explain about her ship. "Can I take a turn in it? I built my own after some raiders shot down my skyhopper. I'm Casaana by the way, an you totally missed a trick. But maybe not going through a break-up arc is worth it." It didn't sound like Fallon was a fan of flying, but her ships was too unique for Casaana not to be curious. As for the Ashlan stuff, she'd been way too young, and it's been too far away from whatever temple she'd been in at the time to really remember anything about it. As long as nobody was weird about it, she'd be okay with whatever.
Then Braze tried to defend himself, though they all probably knew that she hadn't really believed that, even if it looked as if they'd arrived together. "I like it when you talk all pretty," she told him before he distracted her with a bag of treats! "Ohhh!" She pulled the bag open and popped a ball of delight into her mouth. Closing her eyes, she let the thick chocolate fill her cheeks as she slowly bit down on the truffle, moaning in appreciation. She wasn't complicated, and Braze had her figured out. But then, she also kept sneaking into his room at Veridia to raid his snacks. Maybe this was a bribe.

Watching the awkward rebuttal play out left Ala looking in no small way despondent. "Oh bother. I do so love a good romance," she muttered, mostly to herself.

She gathered herself once more, regained her composure and bowed her head in apology. "Braze. I apologise for assuming you and Fallon were together in that way. Instead, just a happy accident of fate that you should meet here and now. Forgive my impertinence."

Despite the hundred credit word choice, Ala looked like a disappointed child on Life Day. And she hadn't noticed Casaana's chocolates yet either.

"I would love to hear more of your childhood, Fallon. Someone raised among the Ashlan tradition would certainly have a unique outlook," she said before spinning about on her heels, "going to have to pick...at your brain." She waggled her fingers like a mad scientist.

She pushed forward on the tour.

"Come on now! Much to see!"
