Faction Thread Planning [Fleeting Practice]

As discussed via the Discord Factory & Codex Channel, the idea of a Faction Thread focusing upon Fleeting was raised between [member="Matsu Ike"], [member="Gir Quee"], Myself, [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] and @Domino.

This thread here can be used for planning a Story or Plot before we get started, as well as what you'll be bringing to the table in terms of Vessels/Starships and the like.

It would be nice to see us really make a good go of this for me personally, as I could certainly do with the practice, but it's also out of the ordinary for my type of threads lately.

Does anyone have any idea's or suggestions, getting started?

It's up to you guys, I've never been one to turn down PvP, though for the sake of the Faction and my lack of experience fleeting I'd not thought about it really, automatically assumed it'd be PvE lol.

If we could form some sort of story, it'd give a bit more depth and duration to the thread rather than just going "There's the enemy, kill it". That said, there's nothing stopping us from doing both lol. I really don't mind, either way.

I would say following the meeting, a test of ships or progress by the different admirals could do. might be able to get [member="Kiso"] who is a commander of the second fleet to join.

General set up, we are testing and partially showing off to continue to exchange of ideas of fleet tech and could be set upon by the vagaari. they were a massive nomadic fleet of slavers who attacked and stripped planets.

I like that idea, maybe they're operating out of a temporary refueling base in an asteroid belt? Or if we wanted to do PVP could be a training exercise, ships are there and crews doing their jobs, but the guns just shoot lights and the computers simulate damage.

I was planning on bringing my 'Corporate Fleet' which is basically the defense fleet for my company, Outer Rim Resources so another scenario for a pvp sim could be me escorting a convoy while one side tried to attack and the other comes to the rescue.

I like both of these ideas. I think that terrain (asteroid belt, nebulas, orbiting moons, etc) is an element of fleeting that's too often neglected and can provide some variety and depth to tactics. Without it, it's like having a land battle with no change in elevation anywhere or any cover.

I like the idea of possibly starting it out PVP and then suddenly having to change it to PVE as well.

Just to keep things interesting, I do have a random fleeting scenario/generator from a different game that I adapt to Star Wars fleeting. If people are interested, I can use it to generate ideas for PVP matches if we go that route, or to provide a little more variety for fighting the Vagaari.

Given my lack of Fleeting Experience, I've gone for the rank of Captain in the Silver Navy. As seen in my signature, I'll be in command of the HA Judiciary. She's all I'll be bringing to this thread, but I'm excited to be giving a naval position a good run for it's credits now!
