Faction Building

So here at the First Order we are seeking a Faction that everyone would want to join.

In our efforts to see this I am opening up the faction building to you; the members.

Here we will discuss everything, aiming at a full faction launch in the next few weeks.

Hello, friend.

By everyone, I'm assuming you mean you want to attract all the Imperial-types as well as the Sith-types***? Because in my mind, I think that is what we want to do. I have a feeling that when the new movies drop, the First Order will become quite popular because it's the new canon and a lot of Imperial types are going to want to be a part of that.

*** - it seems that the Dark Force Users like Kylo Ren are not actually Sith, but belong to something like the "Knights of Ren". Maybe if we could recreate this within our faction, it would help set us apart and establish us as the most "official" of all the Imperial/Darkside factions.

My vision is pretty simple.

We want a anti-force sort of ideal, very similar to the original Galactic Empire while maintaining a distance from the word ‘Imperial’. The Remnant/Galactic Empire can have that crown, we are the more up to date model, different yet similar.

We should maintain our minor level for now, getting a feel for the faction etc. The fleets and the dominations can come later once we have a solid base and characters.

As for the Force-using element.
While this faction is mostly going to be a Force-Hunting style of faction I would love a force element and I think we really can hit the nail on the head by aiming at a Dark Jedi/Rogue style. What I would love to see is those who are excepted within our ranks be held in high regard, yet not as highly as lets say an Admiral or General. While those who are not within our ideals are put through as slaves/executed and hunted. Publicly the First Order will hate all force users, ideally they realise you have to fight fire with fire.

Another element comes into it from a leadership point.
Do we wish to see PC’s as the ultimate heads of the faction, which will be a Supreme Commander type deal. Or do we go the One Sith route and hand it to a mass controlled NPC. What I was thinking after another conversation with another member of the board was an NPC duo in kin with the Emperor and Darth Vader while PC ranks make up the leadership council.
Saying that though, nothing having us allow the leaders to be PCs.

I get that you want to be different, but I think if we distance ourselves too much from being "Imperial" we're going to be losing a lot of potential members.

People should ideally see this faction as the hip place to be for an Imperial. Want to be a Stormtrooper? Imperial Admiral or General? You come here. The Galactic Empire is old hat (and also a pretty small faction anyways - with any luck and with the weight of the new movies on our side, we could surpass them).

As for the Supreme Leader position, I wouldn't mind seeing it go to a PC. So long as that PC has earned the position through months of toiling and hard work.

Interesting concept. The sadly short-lived Atrisian Empire had a similar style to it with the Inquisition. Basically an elite, top secret unit of Force-users who operated as the Emperor's personal hit squad and existed to keep the Forcers in line. Discipline was extremely tight and in extreme cases disobedience could result in death. Basically it revolved around the whole idea of fighting fire with fire, since the Atrisians extremely distrusted Forcers.

Two of my characters used to be Inquisitors and Moira used to work with them. So I guess what one could empathise is control and discipline: Forcers have a place, but they must obey the law and subordinate themselves to the State/First Order.
