OOC Note: Yes, I do own both character accounts. This is just for experience in writing Sith versus Jedi combat

Misis stood at the edge of a rain-soaked trench on Denova, observing the heavy excavators tearing through the muddy ground. This planet had a long history of violent conflict, its surface marked by deep defensive lines left by forgotten armies. She was here to supervise the recovery of any old war technology still buried in those trenches.

Although she didn't expect the Jedi to show up on such a minor world, she knew better than to completely dismiss the possibility. A soft chime rang from the datapad in her hand. Information was coming in from the southern part of the campsite, indicating that one of the work crews had encountered a sealed metallic bulkhead deep within the trench wall.

"Instruct the primary excavator to stay put," Misis told a nearby overseer without taking her eyes off her screen. "If they breach a pressurized hull with heavy machinery, they could destroy any systems that are still intact inside." The overseer nodded quickly and rushed down the muddy ramp toward the dig site. Misis moved to the edge of the embankment, her yellow eyes scanning the area.

The air was filled with the scent of cheap diesel from the generators powering the floodlights. Down in the trench, three droids were already establishing a local scanning grid around the exposed metal, their lasers creating thin red lines over the rusted steel. She began her descent down the slope, her boots sinking slightly into the soft clay.

A loud noise echoed from the far end of the dig site as a crane lifted a piece of broken durasteel out of the mud, but Misis hardly paid it any attention. She reached the bottom of the trench, her fingers brushing against the cold, damp surface of the newly revealed bulkhead.

Odom tightened her cloak as she stepped out of the shuttle, her boots sinking into the wet ground. She had hidden the ship in the dense underbrush a few miles north of the campsite, having originally dismissed the rumors on her way here. She was certain the Sith Order was far too preoccupied with their conflict with the High Republic to care about a muddy backwater like Denova.

Yet as she moved up the road, she was proven dead wrong. Even from a distance, the massive machinery tearing into the earth was impossible to miss. She unclipped her double-bladed lightsaber, checking the housing to ensure it was in working order for the fight ahead, before securing it back to her harness. Crouching low behind a rocky ridge, she peered down at the campsite through the dreary rain.

Industrial floodlights cut through the mist, lighting up the dig site as her Mikkian tendrils began to twitch beneath her hood. She caught a sudden, cold spike in the Force coming from the trench system below. Down in the mud, heavy excavators had ground to a halt beside three droids scanning an ancient, rusted bulkhead.

A yellow-eyed Sith stood at the edge of the pit, barking orders to prevent the crew from breaching the pressurized hull with their heavy gear. Odom stayed low against the slick clay, her fingers hovering near her weapon. She had no idea what old war tech lay buried down there, but she couldn't let the Sith get their hands on it.

Adjusting her weight, she nudged a loose stone with her boot. It clattered against a rusted supply crate, drawing two nearby guards away from the pit to investigate the noise. Seizing the opening, Odom slipped over the ridge, dropping silently into the shadows of the lower slope toward the trench.

Misis turned to the closest research droid and reached out her hand. "Get me a plasma torch," she instructed, her voice slightly muffled as she pulled a heavy-duty filter mask over her face. "And set the oxygen scrubbers to full capacity before we break the seal." She could have used the Force to clear out any toxic gases trapped in the old bunker, but she didn't see the need to waste energy on a task that a simple piece of equipment could handle.

Taking the torch from the droid's hand, Misis ignited it. She pressed the flame against the corner of the heavy durasteel door, slowly dragging the white-hot point along the rusted seam to create a clean six-by-six meter opening. Sparks rained down into the mud at her feet as the old metal creaked under the heat.

As the flame cut through the outer layer, a strange, unsettling knot formed in her stomach. The hair on her arms stood up beneath her sleeves. She hesitated for a moment, her yellow eyes glancing toward the dark opening of the trench before shaking it off. It was probably just a rush of adrenaline, a natural response to opening a pressurized space that had been decaying underground for centuries. Dangerous gases or unstable power cells could explode just as easily as they could leak.

"Keep the scanning grid active," Misis said to the lead droid, her eyes focused on the glowing line of melted steel. "As soon as this panel drops, run an atmospheric sweep. I want to know what's inside before the air changes." The torch reached the last corner, and with a loud, wet thud, the large square of cut durasteel dropped into the darkness below. A dense cloud of gray, stale vapor erupted from the hatch, immediately hitting her mask's filter.

Misis took a half step back, lowering the torch to her side as she waited for the mist to dissipate, completely unaware that the cold sensation on her neck was not from the rusted bunker, but from the shadow moving down the mud slope behind her.

Instead of rushing down the muddy slope to face her enemy directly like most Jedi would, Odom chose to remain low, preferring to stay in the shadows and gather more information first. Jumping recklessly into an unfamiliar camp could easily lead to being surrounded, especially since she had no idea how many guards were positioned along the upper edge.

She dropped into a side trench, her boots making a soft sound against the slick clay. The strong smell of diesel and rain filled the air, but her Mikkian tendrils detected the low, steady hum of a patrol coming closer. Crouching tightly behind a pile of rusted supply crates, she held her breath. A sentry droid walked by by her hiding place, its single optical sensor scanning back and forth. Luckily for her, it was an older patrol model without advanced thermal tracking.

As soon as its back was turned, Odom made her move. She slipped out from behind the crates silently, ignited a single green blade from her lightsaber with a sharp hiss, and drove the plasma straight through the droid's main unit. The machine shut down immediately. She turned off her blade and caught the metal frame before it could fall into the mud, pulling the heavy chassis back into the dark space behind the crates.

Wiping a smudge of engine grease from her visor, she leaned down to examine the stamped markings on the droid's shoulder plating. The rough, angular symbol etched into the casing confirmed her worries, it belonged to a high-ranking Sith Lord. But a simple mark didn't reveal who was financing this excavation or what they were seeking, meaning she needed to keep searching for answers.

Misis heard the lead droid say that the air inside the bulkhead was stale but free of harmful chemicals. She felt relieved by this news, yet she kept her mask on. Droids often misjudge environmental factors, and depending solely on a sensor grid when entering an unsealed bunker was a mistake.

She signaled two of her sentry droids, directing them to the square opening in the metal wall. "Start the preliminary sweep," she commanded. "Map the interior and mark any power nodes before interacting with the consoles." The droids floated past her and descended into the dark, steamy hole.

As the droids vanished below, a sudden chill ran down Misis's spine as the Force shifted again, pulling her attention to the upper trench line behind the supply area. Through the steady rain, a faint blue glow flickered behind a stack of rusted containers, followed by the soft sound of a blade powering down. Misis quickly drew her lightsaber hilt from her belt, her thumb resting lightly on the activator without turning it on.

"Speed up the scanning process," she shouted to the remaining research droid at the cutout, her voice steady despite the rain. "If the main databanks are at risk from moisture, remove the hard drives right away." Leaving the droids to their tasks, she walked through the muddy trench toward the crates. Her boots sank slightly into the wet clay with each step. She turned the corner of the supply stack, her yellow eyes immediately catching sight of fresh oil pooling on the ground and the lifeless frame of her patrol droid hidden from view.

Her tendrils began to vibrate more strongly as the Sith neared her position in the trench. It appeared that her basic lightsaber strike had attracted too much attention, and she mentally scolded herself for such a rookie mistake. There was no time to fix this blunder, as Odom used the Force to quietly jump over the muddy trench wall and land behind the pile of cargo crates nearer to the pit without being seen.

She crouched in the shadows, her boots firmly planted on the slick ground as she heard the wet squelch of the Sith's footsteps turning the corner. The woman with yellow eyes was examining the fresh oil pool and the droid frame on the ground. Confident that she had not been spotted during her withdrawal, Odom realized her chance of stealthily shutting down this operation was over.

It was time to strike before the rest of the campsite was alerted to the disturbance. Odom leaped from her hiding place, diving into the trench. In mid-air, she pressed the double ignition buttons, and both ends of her lightsaber ignited with a soft hum.

She spread her cloak as she fell, using the heavy fabric to conceal her descent angle. She aimed her blade downward in an overhead strike, intending to end the fight before her feet even touched the ground.

Misis activated her weapon, and the red blade sprang to life just in time to block the incoming strike that could have cut her in half. Although her boots began to slide in the wet dirt beneath her due to the pressure, she managed to create some distance between them. She twirled her lightsaber in her right hand to keep a defensive barrier as she slightly turned her body to the right.

Her yellow eyes scanned her opponent from head to toe, searching for any information that could help her in the upcoming fight. She had encountered double-bladed lightsaber users before and knew that their weapon had a longer reach than her own, but the confined space of the trench system would reduce that advantage.

There was no point in talking to the Jedi in front of her as she charged through the mud. She swung her lightsaber in a wide arc aimed at her opponent's legs, forcing them to jump or step back. As the blade sliced through the air, Misis lifted her left hand, unleashing raw force lightning from her palm, sending intense arcs of light toward the Jedi's stomach.
