Expansion Possibilities

Once we go major and have Kamino under our control, we will find ourselves in a very interesting position. The planet's position provides a number of benefits beyond the obvious one of a clone army. First, our capital will be located along the Mara Corridor, providing us with access to a major trade route that extends from several important Wild Space forge worlds all the way up to Hutt Space, Silver Jedi space, and Mandalorian territory.

Our supreme Triumvir has probably already thought of that, so I'll move on. In addition to being on the Corridor, Kamino is surrounded by a number of interesting worlds. Provided we can find the active support to do it, I would say that it's ripe for a hex dominion, bringing all of those adjacent planets under our control. Here's a breakdown of why each world could contribute significantly to the Remnant.

  • Rishi: Rishi is a unique source of Exonium, a fossil fuel that can be refined into starship fuel. Capturing the mines would provide the Remnant with access to the materials needed to keep its fleet running without relying on the galactic market, helping to make us impervious to blockades and trade sanctions. Capturing Rishi would also eliminate its use as a haven for pirates and smugglers, bringing stability to the region.

  • Ukio: An agriworld that produces so much food it once supplied much of the Core Worlds despite its great distance from them, Ukio could become the breadbasket of the Remnant. This would again ensure that our Empire is self-reliant, with no need to import outside supplies. If we want a clone army, this is how we feed them (and everyone else).

  • Roon: Roon is located within the Cloak of the Sith, which would greatly complicate any enemy attack against it. On the surface, the locals farm Mogos, Banthas, and Rockhoppers, which are variously useful for meat, fur, milk, and as riding animals or beasts of burden for the army. Securing Roon would also cut the Death Wind Corridor ryll smuggling route, severing one point of the Spice Triangle and bringing order to the region.

  • Felacat: Felacat has no particularly significant natural resources; its main point of interest is its people. Felacatians, a felinoid species, transform into vicious giant cats when under pressure or in hyperspace too long. They often cannot control their transformations, and this makes them a significant threat to other beings. Captain Krane believes that this threat should be eliminated entirely, but perhaps they have some value as shock troops.

  • Manda: A heavily-populated mercantile world along several hyperspace routes into the Mid Rim, Manda is also home to the Baobab Archives, one of the greatest repositories of knowledge in the galaxy. This planet would be a true jewel in the Remnant's crown, our public face and the center of our secure, orderly culture.

  • Lahsbane: A primitive world that might serve as a nature preserve or support a limited timber industry for handcrafts, Lahsbane has only its people to contribute to the Remnant war machine. The diminutive Lahsbees are useless but harmless. However, they mature into large, strong, feral Huhks who could be harnessed for manual labor. Shock collars would likely be necessary, though the creatures reportedly respond to music.

  • Krant: A pretty, forested planet with modest agricultural production, Krant is likely more valuable for the objects in its orbit. It has two moons and a number of large asteroids captured by its gravitational pull, all of them mineral-rich. Mining operations here could provide the raw materials the Remnant needs to independently produce military supplies.

  • Kothlis: There are seven planets in the Kothlis System, only one of them (Kothlis itself) habitable. An oceanic world dotted with islands and atolls, it was colonized by the Bothans, who built significant industry there. Given its proximity to mining operations in the Krant System, this would be an ideal shipyard and foundry world for the Remnant.

Taking this hex would provide us with tremendous self-sufficiency; it contains practically everything we need.
