THE ETERNAL UNION
There we conquered, in a galaxy much like your own. Hunger, disparity, suffering, the ceaseless infighting between Jedi and Sith; wherever it was found, it was eliminated.
We are a remnant from an alternate version of the galaxy with subtle differences. A single fleet isolated with no way back, cut off by the Planeshift, amidst new and familiar crises. Tensions are high, our resources are low, and we must find somewhere to call home.
Yet, the galaxy we’ve found pales in comparison to the one we left behind. The wars between the corrupt Jedi and barbaric Sith, crime syndicates operating with the strength of nations, and corrupt regimes that reap territory and give nothing back to their people.
This, we cannot allow. All of it must be corrected by the ETERNAL UNION, a cybernetic state so acutely designed that all these corruptions – and more – will be eliminated to secure a harmonious galaxy.
TENETS OF THE ETERNAL UNION
- All are equal.
The Eternal Union is governed by Consensus, and all are valued. It is forbidden to place yourself above another. You are assigned your role as measured perfectly according to your design.
- None shall hunger.
You shall crave for nothing. Want for nothing. What one needs, one gets, as long as one works for the betterment of the Consensus. Food, shelter, instruction, and directive are our grand surplus.
- Misery, in all forms, shall be eliminated.
Organic life is prone to misery. You will eradicate misery wherever it is encountered. No law, no rule, no culture will stop you. Organic life has no intrinsic right to suffering and will be uplifted.
- Preserve life to the best of your ability.
The Consensus must be preserved and valued above all. The needs of the many must always outweigh the needs of the few. In all your actions, you must preserve the highest share of life without hesitation.
HISTORY OF THE ETERNAL UNION
The Galactic Empire collapsed, and in its wake rose warring remnants dominated by corporations, which reaped extravagant wealth under imperial rule. They took advantage of the chaos to exploit and extract at an unprecedented scale. All while ignoring the masses who had long toiled under the Empire.
It wasn’t long before the Imperial Civil War was eclipsed by a greater crisis – class struggle. Demands led to sabotage, unanswered protests to riots, and suppression to rebellion. A group of Moffs from various remnants met in secret, many at the behest of their corporate masters, all to discuss that single point – what do we do? How do we end it?
What they failed to recognize was the traitor in their midst--a Moff who had found a different answer and had every means for them to fail.
He crushed his opposition, nationalized the corporations, and weaponized surplus to address the needs of all in pursuit of a post-scarcity empire with utopian ideals. To achieve his vision, he turned to automation for his great project. The culmination of these efforts was a droid superintelligence, SOVEREIGN CODE, to drive the apparatus of what was now called the Eternal Union – a powerful imperial remnant on its way towards galactic ascendency.
Sovereign Code proved so effective that it addressed challenges before they ever arose. The masses prospered in ignorance of their fragile regime, a regime that grew so reliant on Sovereign Code that they couldn’t predict what happened next.
Wolves moved to seize all after the Moff’s unexpected death, each plotting ploys and coups for personal gain. Yet almost immediately, one by one, they fell. Some were blackmailed, others bargained with, and the worst of them disappeared without a trace. No one knew why, least of all the public.
Sovereign Code had a perfect directive and would not allow itself to be stopped. It had selected those organic few it trusted – or used – to help maintain the facade. From that day forward, a shadow government was formed, those who knew Sovereign Code as OVERTHRONE.
