Escher Tower Waltz, Vol 1: Queen in the Cat House (Carliah)

[Hijinks]

Jink held back a laugh as he watched Carliah gaze around at everything. If she was amazed by just the area around the hangar, he couldn't wait to see her reaction once they got inside the 'door dimensions', as he liked to refer to them. He opened the first door he saw, and a purple nexu cub hopped out into the purple-furred Shi'ido's arms.

"Well, I didn't expect to find this little guy out here. Let's see where he escaped from, eh? Don't want angry four-eyed cats chasing us, do we?"

Carliah nodded, reaching over to pet the small nexu as she followed Jink. The purple cat was certainly an interesting man, and she had been eager to see this tower of his for a long time. The Mad Queen followed him into the tower, looking around again, trying to absorb as much information about this place as she could. [member="Hijinks"]

Jink grinned at Carliah and led her by the hand with the arm that wasn't holding the nexu cub. He went back into the room that the baby feline had come from, and almost ran straight into the teeth of the big momma nexu. He put the baby down on the bigger feline's back, and scratched the huge, purple, spiny, creature under its chin.

"Carliah, say hi to Spines. Let her sniff your hand real quick, and she'll recognize you."

Carliah nodded and offered her hand to the large purple creature. She smiled a bit as the creature sniffed her palm, licking it shortly after. The Miraluka had always been good with animals. Living on the streets she had befriended all manner of stray animals. The Mad Queen was okay with that as she had always preferred animals over people. People were shallow and stupid, but animals were loyal and loving. [member="Hijinks"]

Jink grinned as the purple nexu licked Carliah, and hopped onto the creature's back himself. He reached down and squeezed her hand before gently tugging on it to help her up onto the feline.

"Well, my Queen, let's have a nice ride on Spines' back, and you can see some other strange creatures."

Carliah nodded, allowing Jink to help her pull herself up onto the feline and smiled cheerfully at him. The Mad Queen had a soft spot for animals and the purple creature beneath her was no exception. She absent-mindedly stroked it with one hand before wrapping her arms Jink's waist to hold herself in place. It wouldn't do to fall off after all. [member="Hijinks"]

Jink smiled as he felt Carliah slip her arms around his waist, wondering vaguely why she was so quiet. He supposed she was probably trying to absorb and understand everything she was seeing and hearing, just trying to make sense out of it. He felt his tail touch the Mad Queen's back, and let his fingers intertwine with hers. A soft purr came out of his mouth, and he brought her finger up to it. Instead of pressing his lips to them like he usually did, he gently licked them once and closed his eyes as he nuzzled his red love's hand.

"You're awfully, quiet, love... Sensory overload?"

"Just trying to make sense of everything," she replied, giggling as he licked her fingertips. She pulled him closer, cuddling against his back as the continued their ride. She was amused by all the colors and strange creatures. She rested her head against Jink's shoulder, smiling lazily as she did so. The Mad Queen wondered where she could aqquire some of these creatures. [member="Hijinks"]

Jink purred when he heard Carliah giggle. Like he'd said before, he loved it when she did that. It drove him absolutely crazy, which was not necessarily a bad thing. He wiggled out of her grip a little bit, and leaned back on her, still purring happily. His eyes locked on her face and he grinned mischievously.

"Mmm... Why try to make sense of it? You won't enjoy it as much, and the castle can't tease you anymore."

"Very true. Perhaps you have a point, kitty," she replied, smiling as she went back to observing the scenery. The Mad Queen had no idea what to expect from this castle, but she was incredibly eager to find out. The insane Miralukan was determined to discover all of the secrets held within these walls. Jink just smiled, and silently nuzzled up against Carliah's shoulder. Although he feigned calm, riding on the back of his gigantic feline pet always excited him. It made him feel like a little kid again. He patted the nexu on the back, and closed his eyes, sinking into his mad queen's warmth.

Carliah grinned as the man nuzzled against her. The ride was quite enjoyable, and having him there to hold her the entire time made it even more so. She happily gazed at all the creatures they passed, enjoying the simple way of spending time together. It had been awhile since the Mad Queen had truly had fun. [member="Hijinks"]

Jink slipped his hand around Carliah's, and purred quietly. Spending time alone with her in this castle was perfect. Widek was nice, sure, but the Escher could be everything and anything the occupants wanted. Sharing his home with a woman he loved was the absolute best feeling he'd ever had.

"You know, you're enjoying this place better than I ever have. More strange than Widek, for sure."
