Escalation of Commitment

"The bandage had rubbing alcohol applied on it" she answered [member="Ultimatum"] as the Force-powered healing process was pretty much over.

"Thank you" the patient replied to both Jedi by the end of the healing process.

Jessica would never put a bandage before first putting in the rubbing alcohol on the face that was going to be directly in contact with the injury. So the regrowth of tissue also extended to the ruptured blood vessels below, as the Force-enhanced healing process ended. Venules, arterioles, and also capillaries, were being grown back, at first by Upari, and later by her, in an attempt to staunch the blood flow; what caused bleeding was ruptured blood vessels. Then she would feel like alien bacteriae were being killed upon contact with the isopropanol, especially those close to the surface of the wound. Now that the healing process was over, it was time for the two of them to find somewhere safe to test their respective lightsabers. Some place where they can limit collateral damage should something go haywire with their lightsabers that involve stuff such as explosions, electric arcs or other hazards of this nature. She also knew that other malfunctioning lightsabers would often mean that they just don't produce any plasma blade whatsoever, typically because the wiring doesn't connect to the diatium battery.

"Ready?" she asked the droid before igniting her lightsaber, giving off a light green blade, almost silvery even.

That made sense, it was a more definite measure to ensure that the majority of bacteria were neutralized before giving them a free ride to the wound site. Ultimatum gave a bow to the sentient who they had finished treating. He knew that his part in this had been minor, in fact, it was likely that he had been entirely unnecessary. As far as these Force lessons were concerned, the droid conscious of Ultimatum was unneeded and perhaps more of a distraction than an aid to the Shard. Upari had done all the hard work, while Ultimatum had been little more than a carrier for the Shard.

When they had found a more secluded spot, Ultimatum held out his lightsaber, and watched as [member="Jessica Med-Beq"] ignited hers. Its green blade brought some hope to the droid, that he would have an equally functional lightsaber. Pushing the switch for his, the lightsaber came to life with a hiss. A steely blade with the faintest trace of blue filled the air with light. He twisted it back and forth, giving a few precautionary waves through the air before turning it back off. Safety was important, and there was no need to keep the lightsaber on longer. "Is it possible to build lightsabers without the influence of the Force? If one has all the parts and the knowledge, what is to stop a non-Force user from making their own lightsaber?"

True, Jessica acknowledged [member="Ultimatum"]'s role in this was minor, but that was more about his depletion of Force-batteries than anything else. So, once Upari did deactivate his lighsaber, now functional, Jessica also deactivated her lightsaber, too. Here we go again... I know where this is going to lead: another discussion of melee-vs-ranged weapons, she thought, while recalling on what she knew about NFUs relative to lightsabers. More than their gyroscopic effects, or even all the weight being concentrated in the hilt, it's about awareness of where the blade is. Even then, by and large, in her mind, lightsaber combat was a mostly NFU skill. Sure, Juyo and Niman are more Force-intensive, just that NFUs typically tend to stick to any combination of the first five forms in a lightsaber fight. Just that they did all they wanted to do inside the Valley and it was now time to let Ultimatum act on its own for a while, before coming back to her for additional lessons. Hopefully he'd have a clue as to how to even use a lightsaber in the first place, so as to avoid pitfalls befalling NFUs.

"There's nothing preventing a NFU from building a lightsaber, just that it's harder for a NFU to keep track of where the blade is. There is more of a chance that an organic NFU could get a part of its body cut by its own blade, well, in fact, a chance of it occurring at all. However, NFU lightsaber users are more likely to use a ranged weapon as a sidearm, or treat their lightsaber as such"
