"Dumb as a rock and slow as an errey."
-Old Pamarthen saying
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a native beast of burden for Pamarthen and other watery worlds

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Errey
  • Designation: Non-sentient
  • Origins: Pamarthe
  • Average Lifespan: 80 Years
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
  • Description: The Errey were large crustaceans native to Pamarthe with incredibly tough shells and delicious but pungent-smelling meat. They were used in a variety of tasks on Pamarthe including but not limited to: transport of people and goods, plowing and tilling fields, and meat production. Up until around the time of the First Galactic Empire, they were the most versatile and valuable of farm animals until the introduction of banthas, orbaks, and nerf to Pamarthe. Since then they have been kept mostly due to their strength versatility though most homesteads and farms have switched to banthas. The errey's tough shell was actually a type of halite-quartz that grows naturally from the time of spawning and continues to grow with the errey throughout life. Once past the larva stage, the shell is mostly halite but over time grows to become one of the toughest materials on Pamarthe. Large errey are nearly impossible for predators to kill which made them ideal during Pamarthe's early settlement days.

  • Breathes: Type I and
  • Average Height of Adults: 1.9 Meters [Highest point of the shell]
  • Average Length of Adults: 1.5 Meters
  • Skin color: Shells come in a variety of colors due to the halite-base. The carapace of the errey is almost always red with some subspecies being sea green.
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: Errey were a large beast of burden native to Pamarthe with salt-granite shells that grew with them over the course of their life. They typically had bright red carapaces and deep black eyes attached to long stalks. Their sensitive antennae were long and barbed which along with their large pincers and mandibles made for an excellent self-defense. Though docile, when they felt they truly felt threatened, large errey were among some of the most dangerous animals on Pamarthe. Their shells could be a variety of colors but were typically white or grey. Their shells were nearly impervious to most blasters once their adult size was reached, though their carapace were less well defended. It wasn't uncommon for barnacles, lichen, and other plants to grow on the shells. Their shells could be carved without pain to the errey themselves.
  • Races: N/A
  • Force Sensitivity: All
    • Very, very low-level telepathy
    • Can only communicate extremely low-level base emotions and instinctual urges
Strengths:
  • Strong: Despite their aversion to violence, full-grown errey were capable of pulling things many times their own size with groups of them able to perform surprising feats of strength. An errey's claws could theoretically snap a human in half.
  • Tough Shell: Despite its dubious composition of salt and stone, the shell of the errey had incredibly tough shells. They could be cut with time and patience but simply shooting at one with a blaster would do nothing but score the sides.
Weaknesses:
  • Slow: Ponderously slow, the errey are not hard to catch as they move at one speed all the time, which was about the same speed as an human adult's brisk walk. They couldn't move any faster than that (though that didn't stop fools from trying to race them)
  • Delicious: Errey is a staple of the Pamarthen diet and for good reason. Its naturally salty meat was delicious, if a little pungent. This also meant that until it was fully grown it was a common target of predators.
  • Force Null Fields: Can't communicate in force null fields and go crazy
  • Hunted: Creatures like Vornskr and others that can hunt using the Force will always be able to find them
CULTURE
  • Diet: Omnivorous Ruminants - Scavengers
  • Communication: Clicking of claw against claw or claw against carapace. Hisses. Groans. Telepathic urges.
  • Technology level: N/A
  • Religion/Beliefs: The errey were a popular beast of burden and meat animal on Pamarthe. Because they lived for so long many were treated as prized beasts when they weren't bred for meat.
  • General behavior: Errey were docile, content with slowly grazing the lichen-rich rocks of Pamarthen beaches or on the grassy pastures of homesteads. They mated every fall, laying their clutches of eggs in large egg mounds near water sources like creeks, ponds, and tidepools. Offspring followed the lifecycle similar across crustaceans and after their final molting begin to grow their true shells. During these larval stages, they are vulnerable to predation. Even after becoming mature they were only a little larger than a Pamarthen Eun and were commonly preyed upon during these stages. They weren't territorial over their egg broods however and allowed such predation. When they slept they retreated into their shells, hiding in plain sight as their shells took on the look of boulders.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Errey were among the first creatures tamed by Pamarthen settlers. Docile and amenable to work the errey quickly became the main beast of burden on the planet which complimented the Jialgheer. Their shells, though hard, were easily carved into seats or slots for harnesses. Alongside hunting and fishing, cultivating errey for work and food became one of the main businesses for Pamarthens. They were invaluable to Pamarthen settlers who used them for plowing and tilling their fields or pulling construction materials to new build sites. It could be said that Pamarthe was build on the backs of these quiet, gentle giants. Though over the centuries repulsor craft and other animals such as the imported orbak and nerf, the humble life of an errey herder continued unabated.

Solid work overall here and I like the idea for sure.

As this is an all Force-Sensitive species, please do not forget to include the following weakness:
Srina Talon said:
  • Completely Force-sensitive species may not start off with fully developed Force Powers. That is a matter of the individual, not the race. They are born force sensitive, but that is a potential, rather than an absolute. All Force-sensitive species may have passive abilities that do not require training (improved reflexes, low grade pre-cog, etc), but are prohibited from having active abilities (force lightning, telekinesis, etc). Exceptions are made for artificially engineered species (Sithspawn, etc), if they have been tailored for specific abilities. Racial abilities that are not affiliated with the Force (Ex. Zeltron Empathy/Pheromones) are exempted from this. These species should include appropriate weaknesses, such as difficulties with Force Null fields.

It seems you may have forgotten to finish typing out the Religion/Beliefs here.
