Bombshell Genius
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
The Eri was initially designed to protect planets from asteroid showers in the wake of the invasion of Ossus by the then-First Order. For years, this project went nowhere, until a breakthrough occurred by pure chance. It allows ships to tractor items multiple times their size as well. When used on planet-based emplacements, it can tractor or repel in multi-kilometer objects roughly up to battlecruiser-sized, with multiple emplacements being together able to tractor or repel a SSD.
However, it shares all the common weaknesses of tractor beams: it was vulnerable to shrouds and, in addition, the large size of the beam being produced made it unwieldy to use to tractor or repel smaller items, such as corvettes and smaller objects. Also, such tractoring power comes at a hefty energy cost. Finally, it has a slow rate of activation and can only tractor/repel one object at a time.
Note: When used in starship construction, counts for 20 turbolasers

- Long range - The Eri can tractor or repel objects up to standard long-range turbolaser range
- Can tractor heavy objects, such as a battlecruiser-sized asteroid
- Low rate of fire - The Eri can only activate at a low rate
- Power Supply - The high power drain of the Eri requires large power generators to power it
- Heavy and bulky - The large hardpoint requires a significant amount of space
- Useless to tractor objects smaller than a frigate
- Cannot be mounted on ships smaller than a frigate
- Vulnerable to shrouds
