SPECIAL FEATURES
DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES

The use of Xylen in the memory unit gives the droid brain increased processing power, more so than other standard droid brains on the market. While it isn't something that will turn any droid into a flawless, super-powered machine. The primary difference is the improved reaction speed and general intelligence. In short, its presence only makes the difference between a decent droid and a good one. Extra funds were injected into the development project for the Epicurus to contract a team of Skakoan droid engineers to develop a suitably advanced central processing unit, which also increases the droid brain's performance. Since they were already employed, they were also contracted to include an upgraded Behavioral Circuitry Matrix.

The presence of a System Fortification module helps the droid brain regulate its internal mechanisms by monitoring electrical spikes. This is mostly a safeguard against the droid accidentally overloading itself, but it also makes the droid brain resistant to brute force hacking techniques.

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
  • [Strength] The Epicurus stands a cut above other droid brains thanks simply to its design. It is a robust and reliable droid brain, but it isn't the best.
  • [Weakness] Quality comes at a cost. The Epicurus is more expensive to manufacture and only one facility in the galaxy is capable of doing so adequately.
  • [Weakness] The Epicurus was designed for use with one specific suite of programming being developed by the Helix Syndicate. Using any other form of programming with this brain will produce crazed or inoperable droids.
DESCRIPTION

The Epicurus-Class Droid Brain is not the best Droid Brain on the market, but it is of an uncannily high quality for a mass produced product. It is also the only one capable of running the upcoming programming modules and targeting system being developed by the Helix Syndicate. The way the Epicurus functions mechanically is not terribly different from other droid brains, although it does feature Vonium, a material present in many high quality droid brains due to its efficient properties. Other than that, the same parts and circuitry are present. It is just that, as a whole, they are implemented in a more sophisticated way. Great care was placed into the development of the current product and it shows in the final version.

A downside to this is that droids equipped with the Epicurus require closer monitoring, as they are more likely to develop quirks. If left operating continuously for more than a week, aberrant traits begin to manifest - essentially giving the droid simulated personality traits. Regular memory wipes and restarts are necessary to prevent this. What sort of personality traits emerge largely depends on the droid's occupation and its interactions with others. If individuals are regularly mean or derogatory towards the droid, do not expect it to behave politely when quirks begin to emerge.
