Weaknesses
Size: While not exceptionally heavy, the weapon does have more weight than most common blaster rifles, as it’s intended users are mechanical in nature. It’s also quite large compared to most front-line blaster rifles, even with the stock folded to allow for easier mobility. While this isn’t too much of a concern on open battlefields, it may make the weapon unwieldy in close-quarters, as well as taking up significant space when transported in numbers.
DESCRIPTION
As the first in what would hopefully be many designs produced by EODD, the EO-5 Heavy Blaster Rifle is intended to set the standard for future products. As with most blaster rifles it operates on a mixture of gas canister and power cell ammunition, with the larger power cartridge being inserted into the bottom of the rifle just in front of the trigger guard, and the gas canister inserted through a sliding side port.
A major feature of this rifle is the ability to switch between high and low power fire modes with the use of a lever on the right side which alters several characteristics of the rifle with their own benefits and drawbacks given the situation it’s being used in. Stopping power, fire rate, ammunition consumption, and recoil are all affected by altering the power setting, providing benefits and drawbacks at the user’s choice. The rifle’s stock may also be folded to the left side to provide for better mobility and storage.
All in all, as a field weapon, the EO-5 is intended to provide considerable firepower in either power setting and allows for use in a variety of combat situations.
