Energized by Opposites

After Deneba, Cath was not sure what Veiere Arenais would think of her blatantly defying his orders during the siege of Mt. Meru. While she was a particularly headstrong Eldorai, she also happened to be a Padawan and wanted to remain in the good standing of the Jedi Order. Now she wasn’t sure what Knight Arenais thought of her, and worse, if he would recommend that she not become a Jedi because she was unable to remain calm and do as she was told when in battle.

So instead of confronting her shortcomings head on, she avoided them, something that was a little uncharacteristic for the young near-human.

But the shock of the terror and destruction on Deneba was still oozing through her system like poison in her blood. For days, she had been moody and melancholy, at once dwelling upon what occurred and at the same time chiding herself for wallowing in the abhorrence of what happened.

And what of the Order? Well right now the Jedi Order of the Republic felt more political than the Yutan capital on any given election day. Cath had gone from one bureaucratic role and had been dropped into another nest of conflicting functionaries.

Either way, the Eldorai noble knew she needed a better outlook or else she would be at risk of becoming the Order’s Least Promising Padawan. She’d heard of a former Sith Vong-Tof hybrid who was now a Jedi Knight. Fascinated by the story of how he came to the Order, she knew that a conversation with someone who’d endured what had to have been hardship and pain could only help her with perspective on why she felt that peace right now was a futile effort.

Waiting patiently on a stone bench on the grounds of the Yutan Jedi Temple, Cath meditated as she remained on standby for Knight Carr.

Standing in the center of the training courtyard with three other padawans encircling him all flat on their bottoms Zator chuckled. Battle had been the Zator’s entire life, he had been bred for it, trained in the arts and finally thrust into it alongside his fellow brethren. After it all he was the only one left, the last of his kind. “Remember do not attack separately, Attack an opponent together. Even a pack of Tukata can take down a Rancor together.” Zator advised granting the children a smile. Some would’ve expected Zator to always be gruff or in a bad mood due to his intimidating appearance, on the contrary he could be quite peaceful though it quarreled with his Vong heritage at the same time. “I will see you all tomorrow morning. Remember the lesson I gave you all today.”

Turning to let the padawans gather themselves Zator left the area and let his long purposeful strides carry him across the temple grounds. Moving with a grace that didn’t fit his ginormous stature Zator made his way for the meeting that had been set up by another padawan that had been on the battlefield at Deneba. If Zator was completely honest he didn’t know too much about what had happened on the planet as it turns out the first half of the battle he had slept through. While Sith could be dangerous they did not compare to a cranky Zator. While wookies had been known to rip arms off their enemies Zator was known for much worse.

The one who had contacted him sat waiting on a stone bench and the first thing Zator noticed was the refined elegance that he hadn’t seen many times during his tenure as a Sith or as a jedi. The long hair, the gentle look upon her face. She was young, and much smaller than Zator. How does one so small even fight? The Tof hybrid wondered as he took the final steps near her. “I heard you wished to speak with me Padawan Carr? Is something wrong?” Zator was new to the Republic, and while he had been a jedi backing Cyril he couldn’t be as blunt as he wanted nor put the students through the training he wished. Some would consider it too dangerous or walking the path of darkness, but for one to truly fight the darkness they had to know what it could do. At least in Zator’s eyes.
