OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Intent: Develop and flesh out the Norr's Languages and it's development using what in lore is supposed to be the oldest recorded poem originally written in Norr Futhork which has been used to transliterate "Gumrakh", Bahäm, and "Shaduk" into the High Galactic alphabet which will form the basis for the Homo Sapiens Augeus' language in roleplay and continue to inform how I build out their culture in future submissions, as culture and language are generally interlinked. Their formal languages are ritualistic and archaic to give weight to the idea Homo Sapiens Augeus are ancient in history and lifespan with complex philosophies and rituals but they're also defined by their history of savage struggle on their homeworld observed in their "soldier's speech" and its clipped, barked, and harsh sounds.

Description: "Enduring Flame" Is the oldest Proto-Norn poem originally written in Norn Furthork; it has been used as the basis for transliteration of the three Norn "Gumrakh", Bahäm, and "Shaduk" into the High Galactic alphabet which has been adopted by the Commonwealth of Zorn as an official minority writing system to increase the efficacy of interacting with foreign governments and languages.

SOCIAL INFORMATION
Author: Ancient Norr.
Publisher: Commonwealth of Zorn.
Reception: The critical response for this work within the Commonwealth of Zorn has been broadly good for its use' as an educational tool, within the broader galactic community academics and philosophers find it interesting, for the ideas it contains and as an introduction to the Norr's culture. It is the subject of study by foreign Xenoanthropologists.

For foreign academics and philosophers it serves to drive the contrasting characteristics of the Norr's culture despite their superficial similarity to the race of Humanity that sprung from Coruscant and Corellia. A cursory examination of the Norn script hammers home the Norr's alien languages and cultural identity.

The Poem "Enduring Flame" cuts to the heart of Norr spirituality, it is viewed as the single greatest piece of literary work their people have ever authored and is the first and most authoritative piece of literature in the known as "Path of Strength".

The Poem has survived unchanged through countless centuries, and is often sung or throat-chanted in rituals by adherents of the Path of Strength.

/p, p'/, /t, t'/, /k, k'/, /q/ (uvular)
Fricatives:
  • /s/, /z/, /ʃ/ (sh), /ʒ/ (zh)

Articles & Markers:
Gumrakh:
Articles: Definiteness and indefiniteness are implied by word order, suffixes, or context. Often, particles like gumra ("eternal, all, the") or ben- ("of, belonging to") act as semantic determiners.
Markers: -im / -on / -ur act as genitive or collective markers, which can imply definiteness. Ritual emphasis: words may be doubled for "the one true X."
Example: Melequr = "King" (any king / the king, depending on context).
Melequr gumra = "The eternal king" (definite, exalted).
Bahäm:
Articles: Uses a clear definite article: "ha-" ("the"), No indefinite article ("a, an") indefiniteness is the unmarked form.
Example: "ha-Melekh = "the King."
Melekh = "a king / king."
Markers: Construct state (noun–noun) marks possession without articles. Demonstratives (ritualised): zeh ("this"), hu ("that"), used sparingly in elevated speech.
Example: Sakhar ha-Melekh = "The King's blades."
Or ha-gadol = "the great light."
Shaduk:
Articles: "Ki" is used for definiteness.
Example:
Ki shaduk = "The soldier"
Markers:
Example:
va = "of", "from"
im = "in", "within"
unth = "beneath"
ak = "and"
lik = "as", "like"
nava = "without"

Cupola:
Gumrakh: Copula often omitted in present tense, identity/equivalence is implied. When explicit, uses gum / saq / düm for "is/are." Past/future marked with heavy suffixes. Copula is fluid, sometimes absent, sometimes invoked with heavy ritual verbs. Identity is often poetic e.g (X = Y).
Example: Ts'om brovüch'on gokhulzhon. = "Dreams (are) messages from the deep."
Bahäm: Copula is implied in present tense (hu melekh = "he (is) king"). For emphasis, uses hu/hi ("is") or yehi ("shall be"). Past uses hayah ("was"). Copula is used poetically for balance, or omitted for brevity. Very common in ritual parallelism (X hi Y).
Example: Shalom hu or. = "Peace is light."
Shaduk:
Sa = "is" (Present tense)
Sad = "was" (Past tense)
Saan = "being" (Future tense)
Da = "is / done" (present)
Dad = "was done" (Past tense)
Daan = "being done) (Future tense)
Wil = "will", "shall", "become"
Ik wil Shaduk = "I will [become] a warrior."

Negation:
Gumrakh: Negation is done with na- / n' prefixes or "hueÿm" = ("silence, none"). It can attach directly to verbs or adjectives, or stand as a particle before them. Often reduplicated for emphasis in ritual speech. Proto negation feels incantatory — often paired with repetition to "banish" a concept.
Example: Na-borogeh = "Does not speak."
Bahäm: Negation uses "lo" for simple "no, not." In ritual, negation is paired with bal / aval ("but, instead") to form contrast. Negation is clear, declarative, and absolute. Common in blessings and curses (lo mavet! = "no death!").
Example: Lo or, rak ḥoshekh = "No light, only darkness."
Shaduk: Negation is extremely blunt: "na" = ("no, not") before verbs/adjectives. Can also appear clipped as "ne" in rapid speech. Always short, barked, often part of curses or commands, without ornament and without poetic flourish. Negation is purely functional and barked.
Example:
Na! Shaduka! = "No! Soldiers!"
Lev nava Faadan Im Skade = "None live without falling in shadows"

Possession
Gumrakh: Possession is marked by juxtaposition + genitive marker (-ur, -im, -on), The possessed noun comes first, followed by the possessor with a genitive suffix.

Example: Qaldayh-on Ts'om = "Depths of dreams."
Bahäm: Possession follows construct state, possessed noun is shortened, followed immediately by the possessor. No "of" equivelent the relationship is implicit.
Example: Sakhar ha-Melekh = "Blades of the King."
Shaduk: Possession is formed with a clipped -a suffix (genitive) or by juxtaposition + fa ("for/of").
Example: Swerd fa Shaduka = "Sword of the soldiers."

Adjectives:
Gumrakh: Adjectives are often bound into compounds with the noun, When free, they usually follow the noun, often marked with a suffix -ön / -im for agreement.

Example: Brovüch'on khannon-im = "Dark voice" (lit. "voice-dark").
Bahäm: Adjectives follow the noun, and often agree in definiteness (ha-). Heavy use of parallelism: noun + adjective, repeated in balance.
Example: Shetikah 'olamit = "Eternal silence."
Shaduk: Precede nouns.
Grum Runne = "Dark rivers."
Ki Hus Haln = "The hushed hall."
