- Broadside: The Endimion Class is designed with a narrow, sleek profile from the front and rear of the vessel. This limits the targeting space enemy vessels can hit in a front on approach, allowing the Endimion Class to move into a broadside position, where it can deploy its full compliment of heavy laser and missile weapons against an enemy target in localized areas, greatly increasing its damage output in short periods of time.
- Well Rounded: The Endimion Class is outfitted with an array of laser and missile based weapons, as well as several counter measures to defend the ship from a variety of foes. This allows the Endimion Class to be deployed in a variety of fleet compositions, acting as a fluid ship in tactical deployments and allowing more specialized ships to be used to their full potential.
- Profile: With its focus on broadside capabilities, the Endimion Class has its primary heavy turbolasers situated along the spine of the vessel. A large sensor tower prevents the rear most weapons from firing directly ahead, halving the amount of firepower the frigate can bring to bear in head on assaults. For it to unleash its full potential, it must get in close with enemy ships, risking enemy fire and being surrounded and cut off.
- Slow Burner: The primary offensive missile pods for the Endimion Class are situated in two launchers in the underbelly of the ship. Large hatches must be pulled back to fire these missiles, and it takes several minutes for them to be reloaded, the launchers cooled off, and returned to readiness. This limits the long range damage potential of the Endimion Class, and prevents it from engaging multiple targets with its missile weaponry.
The Endimion Class Broadside Frigate was designed and commissioned by the Imperial Navy following actions against bother Brotherhood of the Maw and Galactic Alliance forces. While Imperial fleets are more than capable of engaging and defeating enemy fleets in open, broad set piece battles, costly losses have been faced by enemy vessels slipping through Imperial battle lines and inflicting disproportionate damage. To counter this potential growing threat, Imperial designers set to work on the Endimion Class.
The Endimion Class is designed to fill multiple roles within the Imperial Fleet, but its primary focus is a harassing vessel. Often deployed in packs, Endimion Class ships will protect Imperial battle lines, and use them for cover as they approach the enemy fleets. Once they are close enough, they are deployed in a mad dash towards enemy lines, where they will try to pierce enemy formations and inflict heavy damage in short periods of time. They will then attempt to break away, and return to Imperial lines, under to protective fire of larger capital ships. Utilizing this tactic, Endimion Class vessels will hopefully be able to keep enemy fleet formations tied up, and prevent break away, fast attack elements from causing havoc within the Empires own formations.
