Strengths:
  • Command center: the military version of an Empyrean can coordinate a planetary campaign by its lonesome
  • High transport capacity
  • Highly modular cargo space (civilian version)
  • Great point-defense
  • Can land on planets
Weaknesses:
  • Slow, ponderous
  • Lightly armed: as a result, escorts are recommended for actual use in ground assaults
  • If the repulsorlift generators fail, they must be repaired in orbit
  • When open, the dorsal hangar is an easy target for enemy aircraft or ships
Description: Due to the original flaws of its original chassis, the Exodus, that is, that its firepower was too heavily concentrated in a small number of hardpoints, the Empyrean sought to rectify the problems that made the original chassis unsuitable for the purpose of supporting ground assaults. On that ship, since all dorsal or ventral hardpoints can point forward as well as aft, what little weaponry is available on the ship can be pointed in any direction. It is also available for sale in civilian versions, and, on the civilian market, it is known as the Empyrean-class bulk freighter. As with the original, it can land on planetary surfaces, making loading and unloading easy. Also, the military version comes equipped with the latest in command-and-control equipment, allowing it to coordinate a planetary campaign without much trouble, with the ship having the ability to carry multiple divisions, or even an entire corps by some factions' standards, thanks to the military version's ability to carry 30,000 troops as well as its equipment and supplies in its cargo holds. Of course, the resulting increase in the number of hardpoints require it to have a higher crew count than on the original hull.

Conversion kits of Exoduses to Empyrean standard are also for sale with the possibility of trading in used heavy hardpoints. Advances in power conduit and computing technology, thanks to the miniaturization of computer equipment and power conduits, enabled it to carry 2 squadrons of starfighters in a dorsal hangar without sacrificing cargo carrying capability. However, the dorsal hangar is a weak spot when opened, leaving the ship vulnerable to bombing runs or other fast ships attacking from above.

- Consumables: 2 months (low-comfort ark ship) - 2 years (pure freighter)
- Crew: 1,000 (skeleton: 400)
- Passengers: 0 (pure freighter) - 30,000 (military version) - 50,000 (luxury liner) - 200,000 (low-comfort ark ship)
- Cargo: 70,000 tons (luxury liner) - 2 million tons (military version) - 5 million tons (pure freighter)

Important note: for the purposes of corporate fleet sizes, the Empyrean is to be treated as a non-combat ship.
