Emotional Blueprint

Ord Mantell
Location: Scrapyards
Time: 9:12
"Greetings to all of you lucky scrappers out there today! We had a massive storm last night as parts have skewed across the Scraplands once again! To those who stayed or had decent shelter, this is the perfect opprunitiy to find that special piece to make it rich! The forecast is to be around ninty-four degrees with toxicity level at a record low with toxic pits having shut down during the storms. You can breath easy outside, at least for today. In other ne-"

Haon Hafey looked down at the small datapad hooked onto the chain as he turned off the holonews report. Looking back up, he stared through the windshield of his SCS-19 Sentinel. As he looked across the piles of junk, towered several stories high with some even falling slowly towards the ground, he started to remember how this all started. The trial...the betrayal...him wishing to complete the blueprint he started on over four years ago. Spending what savings he had on the Sentinel and within a few months, an old facility that been shut down for centuries until he turned it back online. The parts slowly came in phases...the easiest was of course the wings, blaster cannons, and the typical software. However there was still two missing parts required to finish the project which were special rotating actuators and a proton rocket launcher which has been the bane of his existence since he arrived. Four different times he found it with two being stolen, the third being destroyed by the Savrips and the last one having a fried firing mechanism with fused metal on the inside.

A small glint out of the corner of his eye made him slow down the landspeeder, carefully looking towards the right side as he noticed an old destroyed Lambda-class T-4a shuttle craft and the best news, one of the wings were still intact. Turning the craft to where the rear was facing the shuttle and opened the bay doors with Haon walking outside. The atmosphere was almost completely orange, the sky clouded with pollution. A distinct horn be heard in the distance as far above was a rail system using large train systems to transport cargo and personal to and from various locations. Haon snapping out of his daze slowly climbed onto the shuttles right wing which became apparent that it was struck just well enough with missile that tore the back outer plating to suck out the occupants. A terrible way to go but at the same time, a reason why the shuttle was abandoned once people found out a way to duck underneath the back turret.

Getting towards the middle, he slowly placed down his tool chest and pulled out various tools as he started to pry off the cover holding the actuator part he required. It took several minutes but it soon popped off and with a leap of his heart, saw the actuator undamaged. Leaning down slowly into the paneling, he started the long fifteen minute process of dismantling the actuator piece by piece. Normally it be a simple two minute procedure but since the wing was now afixed to this position from lack of power, it became a long process of documenting every part, sometimes even leaving the wing momentarily to go back into the Sentinel and laying the parts carefully on a long piece of cloth, marking each parts use. After he finally removed the last and largest part, he leaned back up with his brow sweating beads of water. Moving back into the Sentinel, he carefully laid the last piece and started to put it back together for transportation though the moment did not last long.

A strange clacker of metal was heard, as if four different pieces of metal hit each other all at once, like a can chime. Haon very carefully looked towards the open bay door and pushed the button to have it shut. It was half way as two large hands grabbed onto it and screeched rather loudly as it was slowly pulled down, almost tearing the hydralics inside the support mechanisms as the head of a Savrip revealed itself as it gave a strange growl yet it stared right down the barrel of a DL-56 from Haon Hafey whom only pulled the trigger once as a powered blaster bolt struck the Savrip and killed the semi-sentient creature in one strike. Holstering the blaster, he pulled the manual override and rather quickly spun a small wheel to close the bay doors completely and rushed forward into the Sentinels cockpit as he quickly turned it on. More screeches were heard as he pushed the throttle forward, quickly going past several piles of refuse as the screeches all but started to vanish as Haon panted, looking up at the rear view camera to see only one stopped near a small metal totem pole as the creature pointed at Haon before slowly disappearing from view.
Several Hours Later
Mixing a small pouch into a bowl of water, he stirred it several times as it turned into a flavored soup, leaning down as he slowly slurped from the bowl. Haon had searched the Scraplands for hours for the last remaining part and as last time, has had no success. Sitting on top of the Sentinel, he glanced around the large refuse piles as some gleaned against the setting sun. Soon he would have to return home though before he could think further, a large wrenching sound was heard and right before him was an old T-Wing crashed forty feet away from him as its nose completely dove into the ground, keeping it upright as Haon held his breath, almost afraid more come down but never did. After a full minute, he placed down the bowl and got off as he noticed something distinctive...the part!

It was right in front of him, clear as day and was just the right size for the project! Within a few minutes, he had the winch system ready as he hooked it up before staring straight down into the launcher and freezing up. The photon rocket was still in the launcher and from just from the front, was still primed. Very carefully, he went back around and proceeded to an hour long project of disarming the photon rockets payload, carefully unscrewing different plates and pushing aside wires till he finally pulled out a small containor the side of his arm and placed it inside the Sentinel. Once that was completed, he would finish unscrewing the launcher and carefully use the winch to pull it close to the Sentinel to which soon afterwards, would drive towards home but carefully as he did not want to destroy the fifth one he ever got to find.

Within half an hour, he would arrive near a set of hanger doors as it read the transponder from the Sentinel and started to open the bay doors which were wide enough to let three X-Wings fly side by side into the facility and land. Once inside, he let the doors closed as a long hiss was heard outside as the facility cycled the air to keep it clean with a calm female voice indicating it was safe to exit the Sentinel as he was greeted quickly by a large starfighter craft as he merely smiled before pulling out the parts to hopefully finish the work he once started all those years ago. Also hoping to prove once and for all, that there is still a distinct need for gunboats.

Four days later...
Settlement Joa
19:12
The hoots and hollars of the settlement were loud today along with the screams of kids all around them in the settlement. Today was one of the few holidays to where all the settlers and scavengers can let their emotions run wild and let the idea of entertainment fully take over. The holiday was known as "Scaeint", meaning Scavenger and Entertainment all at once. Scavengers prepare for the day by bringing toys and other gizmos that would serve as entertainment for the evening though primarily to kids. Others of course would bring in rare spectacles held all year, once even finding a full firecracker set and setting them off at once. Haon Hafeys contribution been always a tad strange as he would bring a few blank blueprints and let them draw all over them, trying to impress the engineer with new ship and vehicle concepts which while most look ridiculous, they got to take home and try to build themselves later. At least once a year, a person draw one well enough that he would spare twenty credits for the design to copy, letting him run home with the drawing though none were ever truly good to use.

However, this year was a bit different as he looked up towards the sky as he conversed with the other scavengers as they laughed, holding up small glasses of Jawa Juice as they slowly sip it. It was not alcholic enough to make them drunk but just enough for that proper buzz. One of the other humans spoke up, looking at Hafey.

"Always nice of you to bring some blueprints, know they are not easy to obtain these days."

"Got lucky this year, one of them old survey craft had a few dozen stashed away...had plenty this year and besides, one of them may turn out to have a great mind."

"If he does, I call the patent on it."

There was a long chuckle from him before the others laugh, Haon included as they watched the night sky after a few moments, one of the few days it was clear from even smog which was another reason for the holiday. Before they could even begin another conversation, a child ran up to Haon and showed the blueprint as he slowly took it, examining it. It was absolutely ridiclous though it made him ponder just slightly. It was a Tie ball but with eight x-wing wings, each one hooked to an s-foil, the torpedo system removed as Haon pondered the design, giving to the child a ten credit chit as he ran off, happy with Haon going into a more curious tone.

"This is by far the oddest design...at the same time, something about it makes me think."

The guys went silent as they knew Haon was thinking of something entirely new. For those few moments, Haon was quiet till he slowly rolled up the blueprint and got up, making small hand motions as one of the guys leaned forward to watch. To most, it looked like a madman messing with thin air...in reality, Haon was moving the designs in his own brain, creating and moving around different parts he had known. As it went, one of the guys pulled a blueprint from the bucket along with a pencil as they awaited for him to finish.

Eight is an insane number, done only to pick ups. X-Wing s-foils are to big...they need to be smaller, cut them in half. Reconfigure actuator distances...good, now configure generator options. It will need a substantial generator...what about a hyperdrive? No, not possible. Speed...where was that old pile of-yes, that one will do. Rip it out of the Nssiss and...wait...that just....

Suddenly, the entire light bulb was bright, Haon turned around and without even having to shout what he needed, kneeled towards the box and began to draw an entire new blueprint as he knew where to find one of these right now, an entire one as the guys watched in amazement as he redrew the old Nssis-class Clawcraft from hand and then proceeded to destroy the S-Foil design, adding in another section of wings to the left and right side. He even removed the old hyperspace beacon on board as he extended the generator size. Right near the end, he realized that the top had no use which let him decide to add an ion cannon for compliment right at the top as he slowly stepped back after writing the name for the blueprint.

"Damn Hafey, what is it?"

"The successor...the Crystal-class Clawcraft."
