SPECIAL FEATURES
  • N/A
STRENGTHS
  • High stopping power: The Emmental Rifle fires particularly powerful bolts which can sometimes punch through lighter armour and light cover.
  • Precise: The rifle is precise from long ranges and will hit the point where it is aimed consistently.
  • All around: Whether it be at long or short ranges, the Emmental Rifle performs well - especially when the attachments are well suited for it.
WEAKNESSES
  • Low rate of fire: Is not capable of firing in a fully automatic mode and will either fire a single bolt at a time or three in a burst depending on mode.
  • Cooldown: With its high stopping power and potential to produce a bolt that carries a long range, this rifle cannot fire as many bolts as the average rifle before it needs to cool down or the energy cell needs to be switched.
  • Distinct sound: The rifle makes a distinct sound upon being fired, sounding more similar to a marksman's rifle or a sniper rifle when fired. A seasoned foe may recognise what weapon they are facing without even seeing it.
DESCRIPTION
Designed by Mathieu Brion who was advised by a few Concord engineers, the Emmental Rifle's main purpose was a simple one. To provide troops with a reliable and versatile weapon.

To this end, they crafted a weapon that would remain accurate at long ranges - in a way, making it rather similar to a marksman's rifle. At long distances, it was still quite capable of taking on various foes susceptible to blaster bolts. Along with its high stopping power, facing a team of soldiers carrying the rifle could be a rather frightening experience as the impact of the bolts could sometimes chip away at cover and destroy weak points of a structure.

Still, it had a level of recoil that was similar to an average rifle which meant that accurate fire often had to be slowed down at long ranges in order for the shooter to be able to adjust from the recoil. This problem was not quite the same at medium ranges where the recoil had less of an effect which consequently allowed for sustained fire at a higher rate. While the amount of bolts which could be fired before the need to reload was smaller than for many other rifles, the rate of fire was slower too. This promoted a style of usage valuing well placed shots over a flurry of inaccurate ones.

At shorter ranges, firing at full capacity often seemed unproblematic regardless of the recoil. Given the high stopping power, very few bolts were often needed in order to achieve the intended results. Still, the weapon was not fully automatic and could be harder to handle for those who just wanted to squeeze down a button to create a hail of bolts.

People who had used the rifle or been fired upon by one were often quick to recognise the distinct sound it made when being fired. This could tip a shrewd foe off and give them idea of what kind of weapon they were facing. Still, with its versatile nature and all-around good utility, one could question where these conclusions could lead.
