As a politician, Eliala is best described as a firebrand. A part of the political group that emerged outside of the Industrial Elites of Nuba City, Eliala is associated with what the Industrial Elites joking refer to as "The New Statesmen" group. The New Statesmen are a new generation of politicians in Nubia, which are not bound to the traditions that were developed during Nubia's time under the the Galactic Empire and the Grand Republic. And these political background encapsulates Eliala. As a politician she is a loud and fiercely intelligent politician with powerful oratory skills. She can be diplomatic and tactful, but, on a dime switch gears and become an offensive and mercilessly strategic political opponent. The citizens of the capital, Nuba City, nicknamed her the "Dragon of Nubia" - a name that still sticks far after her appointment as the Head of State, as Primarch of the Nubian Republic.
Personal Politics
Eliala's views on intergalactic politics is dominated by the slogan that won her election as Primarch - "The Galaxy can get in line, Nubia citizens are first!" She has no allegiance or grand sense of galactic communal duty in terms of joining grand alliances, galactic empires, protectorates, leagues or federations of any sort. However, she understands that no planet in a galaxy constantly torn by powers is an island onto itself - so she is open to negotiations, treaties, economic partnerships and the like. (But, you bet she will bring her powers to bear to get the best deal for her people).
Biography:
Daughter of Nubia
Eliala was born to diplomat parents in Nuba City. During her early years Eliala actually had the child dream of being a podracer as Nubia was the last bastion of podracing and the family lived close the racing arenas. However, it was when she ventured with her father to the then capital of the dwindling Grand Republic on Chazwa did Eliala becme fascinated by politics. The speeches, the deals of power and the men and women fighting for the rights of their worlds. It was a naive and childlike romanticism but, it was enough to enthral Eliala.
Servant of the State
In her teens and early adulthood, Eliala enrolled into the public service and began her political carrier as a public servant of all things. She was a Foreign Galactic Affairs Officer for the Department of Intergalactic Relations and Trade. And it is through this department that she was exposed to the major powers of the Galaxy. She was sent on diplomatic missions to the Grand Republic, who had been busy with itself securing loans and wartime capital to fight the One Sith, debts Eliala was sure they would never be able to repay. But, the Republic through its weight around and used the fear Sith domination as a advertising ploy to suck even more funds from the few remaining free Core Worlds.
Eliala found the sanctimony revolting, but, bit her tongue and stayed quiet. She was a public servant and a servant was always allied to the government's policies, a silent non-partisan cog in the machine. She would also be sent on trade missions to the Galactic Alliance, First Order and the Silver Jedi Sanctum. All this began to build Eliala's infant views of Nubia's place and the plight of the Core Worlds. It also during this time that the corruption of the Nubian government had reached an all new high. Revenue drawn in from the people was filling the pockets of the Primarch's Office and the powerful companies that helped run the Nubian government were sold piecemeal to other bigger conglomerates, such as the well known Nubian Star Drives. Worst of all, in a shoddy and quick deal, Nubia was absorbed into the ever morphing and dying Grand Republic. And in this negotiated tyranny, Nubia was bleed dry to fund the Republican war effort.
It is at this time that Eliala, with some of her closest friends, left the Public Service and formed a counter political party called "New Nubian Party". And during the elections for a new Senator to the Republic Senate, Eliala lead a firestorm campaign against the prevailing elites. She was soundly defeated but, her message started a small flame that would grow to a conflagration.
Firebrand and the Nubian Republic
The fall of the Grand Republic was the fanning of these flames. The Nubian economy was ruined and the people war exhausted. The Senators had bowed to Republican fiscal policy and political demands one too many times. Shortly after the nemesis of the Core Worlds, the One Sith Empire collapsed as well. The two great leviathans had battered each other into extinction. This vindicated Eliala's cause and galactic views - That giant political conglomerates are an anathema to economic development and genuine progress. And such farcical sense of galactic duty was a barrier to planetary progress. This is where she created her winning political slogan - "The Galaxy can get in line, Nubia citizens are first!" With the Republic fading away, a referendum was held to either stay or separate. Eliala lead a ferocious campaign with her new slogan. And in that referendum, the people and industrialist even (long-time foes of the New Nubian Party) had joined her side. The fate of Nubia was decided - separation.
It is at this point that Eliala felt she had completed her task, she had brought Nubia out of the yoke of pseudo-empires and it was free to do as it pleased with its people and to negotiate its own treaties with its own authority. The old guard were removed from power. It is here that Eliala had prepped to step down as party head. But, during the founding moments of the new and restored Nubian Republic - her party members urged her to run for Primarch (Head of State). Eliala at first refused feeling it wasn't her place. But, she was persuaded otherwise. Now was an opportunity to establish Nubia as a free and strong Core World. Eliala agreed and in a landslide victory took office as the Primarch of the newly freed Nubian Republic.
