Name: Dr. Elayne Daklana (post-nominals excepted, darling.)

Faction: Galactic Alliance

Rank: Senator for Alderaan.

Species: Human.

Age: 45

Gender: Female

Height: 5'8'' / 1.73m

Weight: 67kg

Eyes: Hazel

Hair: Dark brown, stylised.

Skin colour: White.

Force Sensitive?: No.

Strengths:
Ruthlessly Intelligent:
Elayne was an accomplished and renown academic in the field of Galactic Economics. Her modelling of system-level currency inflation in relation to taxation and trade routes is considered a model text amongst several institutions across the Galaxy. She has an incredible grasp for numbers and how they apply to something as complex as a modern, forwards-thinking economy on today's Galactic stage. Don't mistake that for having her head filled with numbers, or up in the clouds. She cuts through the nonsense and the fluff with a keen sharpness, getting right to the point of the matter.

Experienced Linguist: Throughout her life, Elayne dabbled in languages. Precocious parenting introduced her to several different ones, whilst a need to communicate with academic colleagues from across the Galaxy pushed her to continue those studies. She speaks fluent Hutteese, Bothese, High Galactic and Twi'leki, with a non-speaking understanding of Togruti and Droidspeak.

Politician of Conviction: Elayne was elected partly based on her detailed plans for the continued economic prosperity of Alderaan. She spent years as an advisor on planetary economic boards and action committees, with a proven record of results. Elayne is a strong believer in economics as a basis of peace: namely, that you cannot have development, prosperity and safety for anyone without a sound economic basis for doing so. Whilst she approves of strong economic activity and some profit-making, hoarding of wealth and corruption angers her greatly.

Weaknesses:
Says It Like It Is:
Whilst she is an accomplished and well-regarded academic, there are still those that bear the scars of one of her tongue-lashings. Elayne has never been good at hiding her real views and will not hold back what she's thinking. Especially if she thinks someone is an idiot.

Arrogance of Academia: Elayne grew up in a comfortable family and entered the privileged cloister of academia. Though she is aware of poverty and conditions in 'the real Alderaan,' she cannot claim to have experienced it. She has a habit of speaking down to people she thought were beneath her, particularly in matters relating to her discipline. She believes that her privileged position is solely a result of her hard work, rather than a hybrid of luck, hard-work and the liberties her comfy upbringing brought her.

Anger Problems: Elayne has a hot temper, combined with her quick mouth. Discussions over differing economic policies often ended in shouting matches across committee rooms while she was working there. Whilst she never attacked anyone, her offices have always had dints in the walls where she's thrown objects. It's good for stress, you see. Not yours, hers.

Biography: Elayne Daklana was born to a well-off family, the second of four children. Her father was a prominent industrialist and her mother was born into a family of wealthy magnates. Elayne's early years were spent with some of the best tutors that credits could buy, particularly once her family noticed how quick she was to grasp things. Even as a young girl, she proved to be excellent at understanding numbers and manipulating events around her. She enjoyed provoking and working up her brothers into fights, just on a nudge and a whisper.

Working at her father's office, she grew interested in the workings of money at scale: namely, economics and planetary growth. She studied Economics at university, using her family's money to help her stay in academia longer. She worked through qualification after qualification, spending some time on Coruscant before eventually landing a position in an establishment on Alderaan. She rose through the department at a decent pace, based on her contributions to economic journals and the strength of her teachings.

With that came opportunity. Faced with an economic crisis, several cities on Alderaan drafted in help, including from academia. Elayne was brought in and helped work towards a revitalisation of the local economy, introducing several ways to encourage growth while filling the coffers of the state. She might have had to shout her way through a lot of meetings and swear at a collection of businessmen, but she did it. Despite her unconventional, adversarial methods, nobody could argue with the results.

She continued to split her time between her academic position and government advisory one, until she was approached by a desperate delegation of Centrist politicos. Alderaan's long-in-the-tooth senator, a populist, had been trying to ride high on the recovery that Elayne had helped to engineer. After some cajoling, Elayne entered the political arena. She fully expected to be trounced, just like everyone who'd faced the senator previously. However, a desire for change across the planet, combined with Elayne's fierce and honest debating style, lead to a much closer contest than anyone anticipated.

Elayne won the race by a margin of just a couple of percent. The newly elected Senator for Alderaan helped to secure Centrist victory on the planet and sought to do so in the Alliance Senate. She is chiefly aware, however, that she'll be up against greater foes than some old, past-it politician and witless advisors. With a small majority and so many eyes on her, she set out to do her job and save the Galaxy in the only way she knew how: with a strong analysis of economic activity.

As for her personal life ("What's one of those?"), Elayne enjoys a fine dinner every so often, when she isn't wolfing food down at her desk. Whilst she might not enjoy some of the inane conversation at a party or ball, she does enjoy the atmosphere and luxury of a high-society shindig. She enjoys the theatre and a good visit to the spa. Her work has kept her too busy for romance, though she has had several short relationships in the past. Particularly in her days of university.

Ship: An unnamed diplomatic cruiser.

Kills: Good heavens, none. Well, verbally, probably many.
