STRENGTHS

• Reliable - The Phalanx is a tough and hardy blaster rifle, designed for the rough use and neglect of the average soldier in mind. The few electronic components included for extra features are not necessary for the weapon to function, so it can be used even if the special features are damaged.
• HUD Connection - The Phalanx can sync with the HUD on a user's equipment, increasing accuracy and giving extra information about the gun's status. The nanocam can also be used to peek around corners or over cover without endangering the user.

WEAKNESSES

• EMP/ION - The HUD link and nanocam have no special shielding from EMP or Ion damage, requiring the user to fall back on iron sights or third-party attachments for aiming if disabled.
• Chonker - The Phalanx is heavy and kicks like a Rancor, especially when fired in full-auto. One might think that the extra weight would help keep the recoil under control, but both issues are additive in how they can degrade accuracy.

DESCRIPTION
The Phalanx is a blaster rifle designed with the mindset that the average user is going to be a conscript or other poorly trained militia. It is functionally simple to use, easy to maintain, but also can be enhanced for more advanced or well-trained units with optional first or third-party attachments. It is powerful enough to reliably penetrate medium armour and some heavy armour worn by infantry, but that strength is offset by its weight and recoil.
