Tri-Tracker

Strengths:

Firepower: The EF50 is designed to act as an offensive escort for other ships, packing a serious punch for its size with two ET-6 Turbolaser Batteries in addition to a complement of turbolasers and proton torpedo launchers.

Weaknesses:

Rear and Ventral Attack: The EF50 lacks any weapons on its ventral side, and while three heavy turbolasers can take aim towards the back, they are too slow in movement to properly defend from incoming fighters as the laser cannons are unable to aim towards the rear as well.

Aft Hull: In order to allow interior space for the two ET-6 Turbolaser Batteries a significant sacrifice in armor needed to be made for the area surrounding them. Hitting the ship in the area around the batteries(located just in front of the engines) can lead to catastrophic hull breach, or if the weapons’ power supplies are struck, complete severing of the ship via explosion.

DESCRIPTION

The EF50 is designed with one thing in mind: Providing anti-ship firepower to any fleet it’s assigned to. To this effect it’s heavily armed both with broadside-fixed ET-6 Turbolaser Batteries and ET-2H double-barreled turbolaser turrets, in addition to ELC-8 quad laser cannons. The anti-fighter weapons are guided by a tri-tracker, which opens up targeting options against any incoming enemy ships to protect itself. Its heavy weapons are far more effective against corvette-sized or larger ships, or utilizing its reinforced hull and speed to put itself in the way of incoming fire to protect other ships.

As a note, the ship can never bring its full armament to bear on a single target. The ET-2H turbolasers are limited in their vertical aiming and split in port and starboard placement. The most guns it can bring to bear are the dorsal turbolasers and port or starboard batteries, meaning 14 barrels at once.
