One Week Earlier...

The discovery came not with triumph, but with a creeping sense of wrongness. Beneath the moss-choked foundations of a long-forgotten monastery on Naboo, a team of archaeologists broke through a layer of stone that bore no tool marks, no fractures, only a seamless plane etched with symbols that resisted translation.

The chamber beyond was sealed by a circular door of dark alloy, untouched by time, its surface faintly warm despite centuries buried in cool earth. Instruments malfunctioned when brought too close, and more than one researcher reported the same disquieting sensation: the feeling of being watched by something patient, something aware, from the other side of the seal.

As the team cataloged their findings, unease spread through the camp like a whispered rumor. Sleep became fractured by dreams of echoing halls and distant chanting, and even in daylight the air around the chamber felt heavy, as though sound itself were reluctant to linger there.

The lead archaeologist, a veteran of countless digs across the Mid Rim, finally conceded what none of them wished to admit, his discovery was beyond the reach of academic expertise; there was a powerful energy bellowing from behind, speculation it radiated from the Force.

A formal communique was transmitted to the Jedi Order, detailing the chamber's anomalous properties and the growing sense of dread it inspired among the team.

The response from the Jedi was swift and measured. The Jedi Council acknowledged the report, noting the chamber's resonance in the Force and the wisdom of restraint. They assured the archaeologists that three members of the Order would be dispatched to investigate the sealed chamber, chosen for their balance of insight, discipline, and experience with ancient sites touched by the Force.

Until their arrival, the Jedi advised the ruins remain undisturbed, the chamber remain sealed, and vigilance maintained; an unspoken acknowledgment that some secrets, once uncovered, demanded reverence as much as curiosity.

Present Day...

Dankaia stood at
the threshold of the ruins where ancient stone met creeping circuitry, the monastery's broken arches laced with half-buried conduits that hummed faintly in sympathetic resonance with the Force. She closed her eyes, letting the world narrow to sensation alone; the vibration beneath her boots, the way the air folded inward as though reluctant to pass beyond the ruins, and the sealed chamber doors.

The disturbance below was not loud, not violent, but dense, layered, like stacked echoes of intention left to fossilize in the dark. It pressed against her awareness with cold patience, a signal repeating across centuries. She remained still, cloak stirring in the Naboo breeze, waiting for the other two Jedi to arrive, knowing this was not a place meant to be faced alone.

Without breaking her focus, Dankaia turned slightly toward the perimeter camp where floodlights cut pale scars across the ruins. "You're certain no one has gone back down there," she asked the lead archaeologist, her voice calm but edged with warning, "no visits to the chamber since it was uncovered?"

The archaeologist swallowed and shook his head quickly, glancing toward the ruins main entrance as if it might hear them. "Absolutely certain," he replied, forcing a thin, humorless smile. "You couldn't pay any of them double their wages to revisit that haunted section of the ruins. Most of the crew won't even stand this close after sunset."

His sister was out on the Outbound Flight, and still running the company. She was much better at this multi-tasking than Jared was. The Warden Knight was taking his TIE Avenger prototype, and making his way around the Outer Rim, sliding past initial Imperial sensors due to the TIE nature of his fighter, and when needed? He’d take out the Pulsar to get into bigger and deeper fighters. The nice thing was that Kaia had set up that ship with a rudimentary seeker droid brain, allowing it to find him should he call. Even if it was mostly on his home base, the Oasis.

But the Avenger was his father’s old fighter, modified to be a long range Knight’s fighter and was perfect for Jared to use as a Warden. Capable of boarding nearly anything, and nimble enough to be a threat.

However, unlike his father and sister, his best life was not in a fighter, it was on the ground. The Force gave him some extra skills, and the way he thought? It just made more sense. And in order to fill in the gap of some of the grand adventurers that had gone missing in recent years? Jared was taking odd jobs to hunt down the secrets of the galaxy. Being a Jedi out of Kattada gave him easy access to most of the galaxy, and allowed him to move where he needed.

And Vodet covered the Enclave most of the time, in addition to being the Waybinder.

The Avenger had gotten its priority landing in Freeport and rented a fun airspeeder for the trip to the rendezvous. Naboo was a nice world, reminiscent of the Core, it reminded him of life on Corellia, just with more gold, and domes. And less street racing. What Corellia wishes it was. Not that he’d trade his homeworld for anything.

Landing the airspeeder, a V-Wing of sorts, Jared made his way on foot to join Dankaia, his BD unit in tow. “Haunted, huh?” The Mirialan asked as he arrived. Curious to hear that. “No Forcers came through to check it out then?” Leace it to Jared to not introduce himself, just walk in.

He traveled light, lightsaber, blaster, Reef's Edge, various trinkets.

Dankaia's eyes glimmered with restless intrigue as she approached the threshold. "Ghosts, haunted or not, I'm eager to go inside, to sate my curiosity," she said, voice a mixture of thrill and challenge. "We may be the first two to step through since its discovery, but I'm certain we are not the very first in its history."

Dankaia moved with
cautious resolve, her boots echoing softly against the stone floor of the narrow corridor. The air was unnaturally cold, curling against her skin like invisible fingers, and the Force thrummed beneath her fingertips with a whisper of something long forgotten. Shadows seemed to stretch too far, bending as though aware of her passage, and a sense of latent menace coiled around every corner. She glanced at her Jedi companion, voice low yet tinged with unease.

"Do you feel it too?" she asked, eyes narrowing, "like the place itself is holding its breath, and watching us."

The walls of
the corridor bore ancient carvings, their edges worn by centuries yet still resonating with a strange, arcane energy. Dankaia's fingers hovered near the glyphs, sensing their latent significance through the Force, and she traced their patterns with reverent curiosity. "Look here," she whispered, indicating a series of intertwined sigils that pulsed faintly with an inner light, "these markings...they aren't just decoration. They're warnings, or maybe instructions. Whoever was here wanted this place remembered or feared."

The corridor finally
opened into a wider chamber, and there, at the center, stood the sealed outer door of the sanctum. Its surface was adorned with intricate carvings, layered with seals and wards that glimmered faintly under Dankaia's scrutiny. She paused a moment, letting the Force ripple through her, sensing the chamber's locked intent, the echoes of those who had built it, and the danger coiled just beyond the threshold.

"This is it," she murmured, more to herself than to her companion, "the outer sanctum, and whatever waits beyond that door will know we've arrived." Her hand hovered over the door, fingers brushing the air tinged with latent energy, ready to confront what had slumbered too long in shadow.

His family was very good at a few things. Fighting the dark side, finding relics and hidden routes through the galaxy, and going their own way either with or without convention. He paid a passing membership to the Jedi Order, keeping up on required dues and tithes essentially. The Corellian-Mirialan was something else though, something the Jedi Order needed.

A monster hunter.

Hearing the others excitement made him smile and almost feel giddy. A place that hadn't been accessed in who knew how long was exciting. And if there haven't been young kings disappearing into it? Made it even more exciting as he wasn't doing a complete rescue mission.

"Let's get moving then!"

The Force was wrapped around him like a blanket. A typical approach anytime he went somewhere unfamiliar and with an air of mystery or challenge. Protective use of the Force was his bread and butter, after navigation.

"So many of these places become shrines. And who knows to what, could be that they don't even know what was here, properly." His hand was now holding his lightsaber hilt. The cold metal texture brought warmth to his being. Security. Purpose.

As they approached the door, Jared could feel the Force, confused and roiling. Like the sea among the rocks. Unpredictable but not necessarily evil. Wild and constant. The green blade ignited and he held it in a guard stance. A deep centering breath and there was the indication of a Force barrier Dankaia could step back into just this side of the door.

"When you're ready."

Jared was expecting some trap to fire off.
