Corbin listened intently to Valery's response, captivated by her words and the sincerity behind them. Her desire to bring happiness and freedom to others resonated deeply with him, and he admired her dedication to making a positive impact on the galaxy, especially with his own goal of wanting to be a symbol of hope for the galaxy. He also smiled at being interesting to her.

As she turned the question back to him, Corbin paused for a moment, contemplating his own motivations. While the symbol of hope was his number one motivator, he would be lying if he didn't say that he grew other aspirations along the way. "I fight because I believe in protecting those who can't protect themselves," he replied, his voice tinged with determination. "I've seen the devastation that war brings, the lives it destroys and the families it tears apart. It's not just about fighting for a cause or following orders; it's about standing up for what's right and defending those who can't defend themselves." just like when that alliance soldier saved him. If he didn't... Corbin wouldn't even be here today, casually dining with a Master Jedi.

Corbin's gaze met Valery's, his eyes filled with a quiet determination. Though their paths and roles were different, they shared a common purpose—a desire to make a positive impact and bring about a better tomorrow. "And I fight for the camaraderie, the bonds we forge with our fellow soldiers. There's a sense of family and belonging that comes with it, knowing that we have each other's backs in the darkest of times." He leaned back in his chair, a faint smile playing on his lips. "So, I guess you could say I fight for a better future and for the people I care about. It's not always easy, but it's worth it."

As he finished speaking, Corbin couldn't help but feel a renewed sense of purpose and determination. The conversation with Valery had brought to the surface the deeper reasons behind his actions, reminding him of the significance of his role as a soldier.

"Sorry, didn't mean to get preachy. You just helped me realised a few things." and he looked down at the menu again. All though they were juggling the idea of doing speed racing before... he's not against the idea of drinking. "How about we order a few more drinks?"

After telling him about what motivated her, Valery intently listened to how he felt on the subject. Rather quickly, she began to chuckle, and even shot him a more teasing grin, "You almost sound like a Jedi now. Protecting those who can't protect themselves?" That was a huge part about being a Jedi, but she supposed that soldiers in Jedi had a lot more in common than one might think. At least with some of their principles.

Their methods, of course, were often very different.

On the topics of bonds and fighting for people you care about, Valery's smile softened a lot. The traditional Jedi had friends, and respected their fellow Jedi, but they were against the idea of attachments. That has changed almost entirely within the Jedi, and now that she finally experienced what it was like for people to really care about you, she felt the same as he did. "For a better future, and the people we care about," Valery finally said, now raising her glass for a small toast.

It seemed like the best thing to toast to.

"Oh it's alright, I don't mind talking about these things at all. Besides, it's fun to learn how people outside the Jedi look at these things." She smiled and followed his gaze down to the menu. "Sure, although I'm not really an expert on drinks. So I'll go with whatever you take."

Corbin truthfully didn't know much about drinks himself which is why he looked upon the menu again, seeing the different names there were... until one spoke out to him. "Alderaanian Starshine, a specialty of the restaurant." he called for a nearby waiter to order two shots of it. One for himself, one for Valery. "So... I am curious, would you be able to train me on how to be a Jedi? How does that work?" he imagined the quality of their training would be intense, for the warriors that they produce. But he guessed there's some underlying reason that he's entirely missing. He knew about the force, but not the exact specifics of it, or what qualified for it in individuals. It just intrigued him. He doesn't expect the question to actually be taken seriously, but rather asked it point blank to get a good understanding of how that worked.

The waiter was quick to come back with a tray of small crystal glasses that contained a vibrant green liquor, the liquid sparkled like stardust, reflecting the ambient light. The aroma of the Starshine wafted up, carrying hints of citrus and spice, promising a delightful sensory experience. The liquid shimmered and danced within the glass, its vibrant hue captivating Corbin's eye. He held up the glass, waiting for Valery to grab her own.

Once ready, he swallowed his down rather quickly. The liquor carried a delicate sweetness, balanced by a hint of bitterness, leaving a lingering warmth in their mouths, the exotic spices were... lingering in his mouth, but it felt good. "That's one damn good shot." he chuckled after saying, placing the glass back down on the table.
