DESCRIPTION

The EC-01 is the first in a new line of eye cybernetics specifically tailored for military-use. As such it’s a fairly basic piece of experimental tech with a lot of rough edges, and a lot of vertical usages. First of all, there is no holoweb access in comparison to Baktoid’s product in this market, this was done with a clear reason in mind. Last thing you want is a slicer to hack into your optics and scramble your systems, while you are fighting on the battlefield or even just walking down the street.

As a result, any upgrades in the system are never done over the air, instead there are three options available to you. First, you can visit a designated Neuro-Saav LIMB Shop and have our professionals update them for you for a modest fee. If you are part of a Nation’s military and they supplied you with this piece of tech, than Neuro-Saav has already provided you with an alternative. (Contact your supervisor for more information) Lastly, the unofficial way is to tinker with it yourself if you are a particular tech-savvy individual, which is not advised and will get your warranty suspended.

In terms of functionality, the EC-01 possess a few notable functions. State of the art artificial retina sensor allows for an increase in perceptual resolution, giving users access to far more details than a normal, organic eye. Adding to that is an innate bino-tele and microscopical function, allowing the user to zoom into the distance or magnify objects in close proximity. Seeing as it’s not an actual optical zoom-function, but rather a digital magnification the software needs time to properly clear out the imagery and remove possible noise in the field of view.

Besides the micro/telescopical functionality, the EC-01 is also capable of processing ultraviolet, infrared and has a military-grade night vision-mode, allowing the soldier to for example see in the near-dark and detect enemy forces through heat exhaustion.

In terms of weaknesses there are a few, for once it’s still a cybernetic implant, meaning that an EMP nade or burst will disable the EC-01 and leave you without sight for a certain duration, the time span depended on the intensity of the blast and the vicinity towards the user.

This weaknesses is actively being suppressed by a simple solution, in contrast to other eye cybernetics Neuro-Saav has opted to make it less obvious that a soldier is using the technology. It does this by mimicking the outward structure of the eye, including the more natural color of the retina. This doesn’t mean immunity towards EMPs or Ionic weaponry, it just means that it makes those sort of weapons less of an obvious choice for your opponents. If they ain’t aware of the nature of your eyes, they won’t think of using counter-measures against them, right?

Out of the box the EC-01 comes with three distinct retina colors, black, brown and blue. Them being the most prevalent eye colors in the Galaxy, inside the coding and programming of the tech a tech-savvy person might unlock the potential to customize the eye color of the artificial retina or even enable the barebones, development overlay of the retina; which has a distinct, cybertech look. Depending on the manufacturing date, it might look like thishttp://ragaru.deviantart.com/art/Cyber-Eye-111574083 or this.

*There is a canon precedent for such far-reaching capabilities, namely the Hi-Sense Enhancementhttp://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Hi-Sense_Enhanced_Eyes made by Neuro-Saav Corporation itself. Said entry is relatively undetailed, so I decided to work it out a bit, give it some background and the sort.

[member="Strask Ak'lya"]: Not a lot, modularity is mostly for future possible upgrades developed by Neuro-Saav Corporation. Think fixes for the digital zoom, maybe new colors for your retina if you are inclined, that sort of stuff. It ain't a 'You can add heatvision or x-ray to it'-type of deal.
