Strengths:
  • Carrier: Eagle carriers are able to, true to their namesake, fit large amounts of starfighters and support craft into its vast hangars.
  • Sturdy: While its defensive technology is not much better than a Peacekeeper-class escort frigate's, the Eagle carrier line has a much sturdier structure, lacking the narrow middle strip and large armament chambers of the escort frigate. Consequently, an Eagle can absorb a few turbolasers even with its shields down.
  • Gotta Go Fast: The Eagle carrier has large, powerful engines in its rear, which allows it to keep pace with larger capital ships, especially rapid-deployment type vessels.
Weaknesses:

  • Blind Butt: The engines of the Eagle carrier are not in the range of any of its defensive weaponry, making it a large and obvious blind spot.

  • Support: Eagle carriers are support vessels, with practically no combat capabilities against anything larger than a gunship.

  • Toothpick: While considerably wider than a Peacekeeper, an Eagle can still risk being snapped in half if a part of its long bow or starboard is ripped off.

Description: While Outer Rim had produced much larger carriers such as the Valor and Valiant-class vessels, they quickly realized that smaller detachments would likely have access to neither for extended periods of time. Consequently, a smaller, faster, and much more numerous class of carrier was created. Roughly an eighth the length of a Valiant, and an eleventh the length of a Valor, Eagle carriers are able to be produced in much greater numbers. Consequently, the Eagle is intended to fit in naval detachments of almost any size as a light but effective carrier vessel.
