SPECIAL FEATURES

* Alchemically durable.
* Alchemical disc ammunition includes anticoagulant, gyrostabilizers, and high-quality vibrogenerators.

STRENGTHS

* Silent apart from a gentle 'thwip.’
* Anticoagulant-treated, vibro-edged disks will shear through most soft or pliable armor without much difficulty, and will devastate cloth/fur/circuitry/flesh.
* Lightsaber contact (or other energy weapon damage) will break the alchemical discs into pointed, vibrating sections, hopefully causing small cuts that bleed freely.
* High-end alchemical durability: lightsabers will scar the lanvarok but won't cause significant damage unless jammed into the narrow aperture. Full-forearm protection.

WEAKNESSES

* Discs will glance off most hard armor (even stormtrooper armor or droid plating) without causing much damage. At close range, a disc might embed itself halfway but not pierce through.
* Can be blocked by a lightsaber (but see above about fragmentation).
* Low muzzle velocity and modest projectile mass equate to low stopping power. The goal is attrition through blood loss.
* Lower ammunition capacity than a blaster.
* Ammunition less readily available than a normal weapon.
* Can't be worn on top of other forearm armor, apart from cloth etc.
* Force Light will degrade or break both the weapon and its ammunition. Force Light has even been known to slow or redirect the ammunition in flight.

DESCRIPTION

“Apart from the Death Star, there's no better example of a great idea that went unexamined due to hubris. The classic lanvarok is a terrible weapon: six kilos of useless frame, minimal protection, negligible capacity for cheap ammunition. The best you can say about it is that there's not much scarier than digging a metal disc out of a wound. For my customers’ purposes, that's just not good enough.”
- Rave Merrill, 838 ABY

The alchemists of Akure created the Dzuskuri based on sketches and partial prototypes from one of Rave Merrill's hidden workshops. Compared to a classic lanvarok, the modernized version is lighter and more durable, carries four times the ammunition, fires something more viable than durasteel discs, and shears through most non-rigid armors with ease. The Dzuskuri retains the original weapon's silent menace, and throws in a number of quality-of-life upgrades that are six millennia overdue.
