Dylan Kaelis grew up on the windswept moon of Toshara, the daughter of windfishers and older sister to Cole. Life on the Kaelis homestead was simple and routine: they would catch wild flyers, prepare them for the market, and make occasional trips to Mirogana, the moon's bustling capital. It was in Mirogana, however, that Dylan's imagination truly came alive. She was captivated by the stories of spacers passing through—tales of pirates, slavers, and Sith patrols. Whenever she could, she would slip away from the family's stall just to watch the travelers come and go, dreaming of adventures beyond the horizon.
Everything changed when Dylan turned thirteen. Entrusted for the first time with overseeing the homestead and looking after Cole, she faced the challenges of managing the family's affairs alone—just as the galaxy was thrown into chaos by the Planeshift. Her parents were lost in the turmoil, never to return, leaving Dylan to struggle to keep the homestead afloat. Local criminals and eventually the Pyke Syndicate came calling, demanding payment and offering protection, but Dylan refused to yield. Narrowly escaping with her brother, she fled to Mirogana, where the siblings now survive on the streets. Dylan does whatever it takes to keep them fed: stealing, lying, and cheating. Anything to live another day.
