SPECIAL FEATURES
Strengths:
  • ARM: The Autonomic repair mode allowed for DX battle droids on Neural Links or Solo mode to repair or help repair other DX battle droids. These repairs were basic and were not possible if the droid brain and central processing unit were destroyed. (Head)
  • Neural Network Link (NNL): Up to a dozen droids were able to link and share data wirelessly. This allowed for up to twelve droids to function as a cohesive unit and utilize slightly more advanced tactics than when used in mass. If the droid brain detects more than 12 DXs and a Control Hub or Control Ship it will default to that Control system over the NNL
Weaknesses:
  • Controlled: When used in large groups DX droids required the use of a droid command ship or hub (about as effective as the B1). When that control hub was disabled or destroyed the droids were shut down for several minutes before reactivating on Neural Networks or Solo.
  • Ion Weapons: The droids were not protected from ion weapons
DESCRIPTION
Enforcers, protectors, and the face of oppression on the industrial world of Ord Mantell, the D-7 Battle Droids were the main surveillance and enforcement tool in use by Mantel Corp. Constructed with sturdy materials and complex programming, the DX patrolled the Junk Wastes of Ord Mantell, its Junk Moon, and its manufacturing areas. Tall and imposing with a single high magnification photorecptor the DXs were efficient killing machines and displayed strength, speed, and agility that allowed them to move easily through the junk piles of Ord Mantell and its Junk Moon. They were also programed with a variety of hand-to-hand combat styles, blaster proficiency, and pilot programing which made them efficient all around droids. Their bodies were also collapsible, which made them easy to transport in large numbers. As such they were used across the Galaxy by small militias, private security companies, and world governments.

The droids utilized large control ships and towers to function in large numbers. While this improved their efficiency exponentially, it also limited what individual droids could do individually. While their tactics individually weren't ground breaking, they were much more predictable when conencted to these control stations. If the control stations were to ever go down the droids would be powered down immediately, however would reboot over the course of several minutes and would be forced to rely on a neural network, increasing their autonomy, but decreasing their effectiveness in large numbers. Occasionally, small groups of DXs would be modified per their mission to be linked via the neural network instead of the control ship as the neural network allowed for faster information sharing and better autonomy during small squad-based missions. Networked droids also were able to utilize better group and individual tactics than Controlled droids.

Though Ord Mantell technically did not use slave labor due to Mandalorian "influence" they did make it nearly impossible for many on the planet to find work outside of their factories, shipyards, salvage ships, and recycling plants. As such, civil unrest was high on the planet and outside of Mantel Corp's small private military they utilized the DXs as the first response to uprisings and strikes. After the Mandalorian Empire arrived to their world in exchange for compulsory service to Mandalore Mantel Corp provided full access to the Droid Foundries of the planet and thus the massive supply of DXs they produced. The DXs would go on to become one of the many droid models used to fill out the Mandalorians' military and provided a much needed alternative to sending out live soldiers to far flung colony systems and battlefields. They also proved to be an effective tool when used en masse, becoming a bulk portion of Mandalorian ground forces.
