Weaknesses:
  • Slow: The ship is unable to outrun other fighters
  • Heavy: The ships compliment of proton bombs makes it considerably slower
Description: The DX-84 Archon is the primary heavy-hitter of the Octarchy Fleet. While it cannot inflict as much damage as the DX-8 Outrigger, the Archon is more widely available, and considerably easier to replace if the fighter should be destroyed. The addition of twin turrets on the top and bottom of the ship allow for considerable defense through offense, allowing the bombers to return fire to incoming ships from virtually any direction.

The Archon is perhaps the largest crew compliment of any Octarchy fighter, with a pilot, co-pilot, bomber, and two gunners. The ship can, at minimum fly with a crew of three, as the Pilot can control the bomb dispersal in the event of a missing (or dead) bomb officer.

As the Octarchy reformed to a single task force comprised of several battle groups, the Archon was rebuilt and reformatted to account for the smaller deployment numbers. This extra leeway was spent on increasing hull strength, ensuring the bombers were more readily able to reach their targets and deliver their payloads.
