Illithor Du'thra
Character
Materials:
- Frame made from Flax Stahl F3C13
- Standard internal engine component's
- Plug in's for tensor field in the frame
- Self contained with few mount points and connections
- Outer skin of customers chosen material
SPECIAL FEATURES
- Modular: the design was made to be able to scale in construction from a fighter size up to a capitol ship. Having internals made to work on any point on the scale.
- Swappable: Made as a single unit there are just a few plug ins. Allowing damaged engines to be removed for repair while a new one can be swapped in if the urgency calls.
- Durable: The engine is made to be durable. Taking some hits before loosing performance.
- Tensor Field Compatible: Can use a tensor field to stiffen the engines frame vs kinetic attacks
- Self Contained: Having just a few connections and mount points damaged engines can be swapped for a new one quickly
WEAKNESSES
- Delicate Internals: Once the outer shell is broken the FlaxStahl internal frame is easy to bend. Leaving to very quickly diminishing performance until failure as the frame is deformed into internal components.
- Connection: Given its contained and swappable nature, if a large enough tractor beam, or force power large enough could rip the engine off. Given the ships shields were down & possible tensor fields disabled.
A standard engine was needed to replace the galaxies imported ones at large scale. To work towards the goal of independence from King Alaric and the main line Sephi Du'thra Engineering being the gear heads of the triple family alliance got to work. Illithor had always loved working the finer details of things. Seeing the multitudes of Confederacy of Independent systems ships the three families were working on let him see quite a few engine makes and models up close. With his hand in those engines with his tools, and seeing the damages some of them had returning to their dockyards for repair had gave him insights. Thus the engine division was born with him as the head.
Du'thra Engineering at the direction of Illithor built and began test beds on Flax then on Taris, the former being the far more secretive location. In these engine labs Illithor's team made the many test iterations of the Du'thra Radial Ionic engine. Many of these were put on small ships of various makes to see if they performed. Then they moved on to high performance tests on fighters and fast response vehicles. The final test runs were done on a pair of Munificent ships during the Clone Wars. The data from the Werr built Munificent's finalizes the majority of the Radial Ionic engine.
