Made from Duraflex, a blend of Durafiber, Aeien Silk and modified heat crystal weave, DuraGloves are comfortable, form fitting clothing meant to be a temporary solution. DuraGloves do not tear easily and are able to stand up to most environmental hazards including sandstorms, blizzards and heavy rain. It is important to note that DuraGloves will wear out over time and repeated exposure to harsh elements, though at a slower rate. The modified warming crystal weave used in the Duraflex fabric helps to regulate body heat, keeping the wearer at a relatively normal body temperature for their species despite the condition of their surroundings. The fabric blend is also treated with a waterproof coating, ensuring that the wearer stays dry. This helps prevent conditions such as hypothermia and trenchfoot, given that the wearer may be in the same DuraGlove for days at a time. DuraGloves are available in a variety of basic sizes to accommodate the needs of different species. Given that the fabric has difficulties taking up certain dyes, DuraGloves are only available in black.
Unlike the DuraSuit, a temperature controlled suit made with refugees in mind, the DuraGlove is able to encase the entire body sans eyes. While not removable from the entire suit, the hood can be pulled back so that it does not cover the head. The hand area of the DuraGlove is made with a blend of Duraflex and accuracy glove fabric, which helps the wearer’s accuracy with ranged weapons like blasters.
DuraGloves were made primarily with survival in temporary conditions in mind. As such, they are fairly light, flexible and comfortable—but provide no additional resistance against weapons of any sort and were intended to wear under armor or heavier, more protective clothing. While a scrape on a rock or a tree branch will not cause tearing, the fabric can easily be punctured by a knife, pierced with a blaster or burned by a lightsaber.
