His gaze shifted back to her, a quiet breath escaping him.

“No, I don't think His presence matters more than Hers. It was more prominent.”

A moment of silence enveloped him as he chewed on her words. Processing what she was saying to him in a way that seemed as if he were willing to learn another point of view, but he held tight to his own point.

“There are many people who visit Jutrand that believe those who have the seat do not deserve it, or they believe they did not earn it.”

His gaze flicked towards a few new faces that walked into the complex.

“Those points of views will never disappear no wonder who takes the throne and how. Total servitude will turn you into their slave, no matter your dreams or aspirations.”

His eyes turned back to her.

“The only thing that matters is their agenda. Whether that be the betterment of us Sith or not that is up to them. We may climb all we want but they have the power to just keep adding more steps, eventually you will get lost climbing.”

His fist clenched just slightly around his glass. Not out of frustration to her words but as a bit of a social coping mechanism.

“You have to be willing to do more than just climb.”

His hand slowly relaxed, steam gently pushing off his palm before he flicked it away nonchalantly.

“Whether you believe the Emperor and the Empress to be equals is irrelevant. Doesn't matter if I think they are or not as well. All I feel is the need for more expansion, but who doesn't want that.”

He gave her a quiet shrug at her last statement of servitude.

“If the Empress told me to prepare for war tomorrow I would be prepped, if she demanded respect, I would show it, if she asked for protection I would provide it to the best of my abilities, not that she would need it. But I am not one to ask how high when someone tells me to jump.”

"And now her presence is more prominent." Eira countered. She shrugged her shoulders on the matter, the current rulers were the current rulers for a reason in her mind but Eira also knew that when she felt ready, there would come a challenge from her to claim what she believed she deserved. "Well, they come, they challenge and most of the time they fail to go anywhere." Changes to rulership were rare in the current Sith Order, whether that remained the case, or how things were before, that was irrelevant.

Eira finished her drink, pausing for a moment to listen to what Varin was saying. She shook her head, "I never said commit to total servitude, that would gain you nothing. However, understanding your position, climbing the ranks, appearing to serve but priming yourself to become a force to be reckoned with. That is playing the political game well, not leaving yourself exposed to early in your rise." Timing felt like it was everything. That mistiming your chance to become a powerful figure could cause you to collapse into nothingness.

"The ones at the very top might never see you as an equal, some have been there since before our parents existed. Understanding ways with the Force that we cannot comprehend for now. But that doesn't mean they will remain there. That doesn't mean they are going to never respect you, just means you have to do more to demonstrate the worthiness of your position. Climbing the ladder is not a perfect metaphor, there is always more to it than merely getting more ranks." Eira was not thinking a title would immediately gain her respect. That was never going to be something people like Carnifex and Srina would respect. Actions had to show that one was worthy of their attention.

Eira smirked, "so you run when told to run but you don't believe yourself to be that way?" She raised an eyebrow, orders were given and he stated he would follow them. "I think you are misunderstanding me when I say we serve since I do not believe we have to serve mindlessly. Respect is never something can demand as well, in fact if the Empress demanded respect from me, she would lose it the moment the words left her lips. The moment the demand would come, is the moment I plot her downfall." Eira thought less of anyone who felt they had to make such demands, they were weak, too weak. There had been Sith who expected Eira to roll over and respect them for a title or a connection they had to her Master, but Eira did not respect them for it. In fact she worked harder to demonstrate they were not worthy of her attention at all.

It was in part why she seemed feral to others.

Varin tilted the glass in his fingers as she spoke, looking at his reflection. She spoke as someone who had goals and ambitions, big ones. That caught his attention.

“Perhaps we have been talking in circles on the matter, and perhaps you and I do have the same views when it comes to servitude, for the most part.”

The ice started to melt within the glass as he held it, the condensation dripping to the table and then rolling to the floor.

“If I was told to make a tactical retreat, then I would do that if that were the only way forward, but to run away is not an order I would follow.”

He set the glass now partly filled with water on the table, the napkin beside it absorbing the condensation like a desert begging for water.

“You speak of servitude, but not for the duty of the crown. Tell me,”

His posture relaxed into the chair as a slow breath filled his lungs then escaped.

“Do you plan on taking over the throne of Emperor?”

He knew the ambition to rule very well, his home world's throne was his not only by Birthright or by blood, but because it was His.

“Or do you just have goals for something smaller?”

His eyes flicked to her empty glass then back to his.

“And if you are planning on taking that throne, how much do you know of ruling? What would you give to sit upon that throne?”

The small droid flew back over, offering him a refill and he simply waved it off. To him the conversation had grown a bit too deep for tainted minds. To most this would be the threshold of danger when it came to words.

"I have great respect for The Empress. I have seen her power, and even after witnessing it she called me a Lord while I am but an apprentice."

Eira nodded her head, "possibly, differing phrasing on the matters but similar understandings on how one should be." Eira knew that she held strong views on matters and did not bend to opposing views so she was hoping that this was a mere misunderstanding between two similarly thought people. Which happened all too often in life.

"I think your biggest issue is that you take my words far too literal." Eira pointed out, "my point was not the orders that you do or do not follow, they don't matter. What matters is the fact you admit that you will follow orders. That is an acceptance in rank, in hierarchy and understanding that one must obey commands when they are given. Yes, logic as a Sith dictates that you follow the commands that benefit you, ones that you respect and believe are correct. But you are not defying the way things are done within the Sith Order. You are not as different to others around here as you might wish to believe." Eira pointed out, while everyone wished to think of themselves as something special. Something unique. Eira had learned the hard lesson herself, being special was never truly possible.

Eira shrugged, "my plans on the future are my own." She was purposefully keeping things close to her chest on that matter, if she just randomly shared that she desired to rule, desired to be the most powerful then it would get out and there could be made an effort to stop her goals. "For now, I simply wish to complete my training and to demonstrate my commitment to eradicating the Jedi and their lackies."

"I am training under Quinn Varanin, I see first hand what it takes to rule and what must be done as a ruler." Eira was publicly Quinn's apprentice so Eira did not think there would be much use in denying or hiding that fact. Her master was queen of Eshan so nothing she said was incorrect as well. While Eira hadn't seen too much of Eshan and how Quinn ruled it currently, she knew that her master was busy and heavily involved in ruling the world.

Eira shrugged, "being called a lord is not a title exclusive to Sith. Could be that she thought you were a some lord of a planet. A title of nobility, not of skill and power." Eira looked over to Varin, "I have been called a Sith Lord by an enemy before now. But that was due to their lack of understanding in what it takes for one to be truly that powerful."

Varin was silent as she spoke. When she mentioned the aspect of following orders in general, and that he was no different than others. A chuckle left him at that one.

“No one is truly special. Everyone has the same outcome in the end. Everyone believes that one day they will have a time to shine. Not everyone gets that.”

He gave her a small nod when she remained tight lipped on her future plans. Something he saw coming, but it was the smart answer.

Then she mentioned eradicating Jedi and continuing training.

“That is the makings of a smart Sith. No matter the experience, you always have to be willing to train. You always have to be willing to improve.”

He leaned forward, his elbows on the table while his hands clasped in front of him.

“Eradicating Jedi. No matter who you speak to that is a Sith that is our common similarity. Some would disagree because they cannot stomach the thought. That is fine, that is more Jedi for me.”

He paused at the mention of Quinn Varanin. An eyebrow arched as he looked at her.

“I can't say I know much about her.”

Has hand tapped the table slightly as he thought for a moment.

“I have seen her, but never met her.”

Her next phrase drew a small shrug from him.

“You could be correct when speaking of other Sith. The Empress on the other hand, I know can tell who is worthy of Lordship. Not just in ruling or royalty. If you were to look at me, the last thing you would expect is royalty.”

Only partly true. He was of noble blood. The blood of Sith Kings flowed through his veins, but he does not have a single thing in his name except what he carries.

Though, he did not plan to stay like that for long.
