Droid's Desire (Zrixtas)

"Sounds like a logical place to start. As it is the most important part it should be figured first. Let's get to it." Ultimatum pulled a drawer attached to the side of the work table and pulled out a solid square foot metal cube. He looked at it, checking for imperfections and looked at the sole blemish, a mark of date and place from where it was collected. "Well, if this turns out alright this will be your new home. You like the volcano outside right?" Ultimatum asked as he placed the metal on the table and pulled out a laser cutter, not one of the bulky ones used in ship repair but a thin one only the size of a pen used for fine handling and works. He held it out for [member="Zrixtas"] to use if he wanted. It would be the first step in the building of his body and Ultimatum didn't know if this living crystal would want to be the first to start the momentous act.

Outside, a droid arrived and waited patiently, it had a small box whose only content was the memory core that Ultimatum had ordered here. The droid's presence was noted by the security system, which was run by Ultimatum's HoloNet program and it sent a notification to Ultimatum. Ultimatum decided that he would get it in a minute, he wanted to see the beginning of the droid first.

Zrixtas took the pen and held the cube in his hands as he planned out what the casing around his crystal body would be. With little movements of precision he began to cut into the cube. "Why do you ask about the volcano outside? Is this metal from it perchance?" He then asked as he thought a little about his body being born and bred on Mustafar, it coused him to chuckle a little to himself. He ignored the droid that entered the room. "I am sorry [member="Ultimatum"] but I can only do so much with this casing as there are no other shard around my size so once I'm done with as much as I can I will need to put a lot of trust into you to hold my crystal body while you make the small adjustments to have it fit perfectly." He finished cutting after five minutes of precision cutting before he placed it down next to Ultimatum as he opened his chest chassis and removed his crystal body, his body shutting down as the crystal was placed on the table.

Ultimatum gently picked up the crystal. For a moment all he could think about was that. He held in his hand a life, a living sentient being. He could crush it, or he could care for it. He had no intention of ill will, he was just thinking it through. It was strange, there was a sense of power that came from this, but it wasn't the power that Ultimatum wanted. It seemed more like the kind of power that tyrants wanted, but Ultimatum was not a person hungry for power. He placed it carefully back on the table and then picked up the laser cutter. He lowered the tools power so that it wouldn't cut all the way through the metal. He focused on making indents where they appeared on the crystal, he took special care on removing larger chunks of metal. He wanted to avoid having to put metal back on. At the same time it was difficult to cut to the exact imperfections of the crystalline surface. It took a solid two minutes of absolute silence on Ultimatum's part before he made the final cut.

He made a last inspection of the crystal, being incredibly delicate when he picked it up. He seemed pleased with his work and he slid the crystal into place. It was a perfect fit, the crystal wouldn't be bouncing around the inside of the holder here. When at last he decided it was good, Ultimatum pulled the crystal back out and gently placed it back into the first droid. He waited for the droid to show signs of functioning before saying, "I believe that this is it. You fit into perfectly. As for the volcano, yes this metal comes from the closest that we've gotten to the volcano. It is a small river that isn't as hot as the main ones that this comes from. The metal is incredibly pure making it idea for this kind of use."

To say Zrixtas was nervous while in [member="Ultimatum"]'s hand would be an understatement but once he began to work he sighed a sigh of relief inside his head and then just relaxed and watched the droid work. his dedication to detail showed him that this individual would be a valued friend in the future as there were very few he knew about that would take such care in both their work and with other living beings. 'Seems this will be an individual to watch in the future.' He thought as he was then placed into his own body and he began the start up sequence again.
It took a minute for him to start his body up again fully and he moved like he was an organic loosening up it's muscles at the start. "Thank you Ultimatum not many would repay the trust I just placed in you." He then said as he looked at the casing that would soon become his new home. "Shall we continue?" He then said after remarking how convenient it was for Ultimatum to have such a metal river running near his base of operations.

"Absolutely. I have here a memory core that will hopefully be sufficent for the particular needs of this body." Ultimatum said as the other droid walked over the placed the box on the table before walking out. Ultimatum understood the importance of the gesture that [member="Zrixtas"] had made. In Ultimatum's mind there was no greater privilige than beening the caretaker of another lifeform. It was the highest calling within all forms of life, he believed that there was an organic poem of some sort that spoke of it appropriately, "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world." To Ultimatum it fit perfectly.

He turned his attention to the memory core as he pulled it out of the box. He placed it next to the sphere for comparison in size. He then gently moved both items to one side of the table, being sure that both were safe from falling off an edge. He followed this by pulling a vaccuum pipe that hung from the ceiling back and forth across excess metal that was on the table. This would take them back to the refining room to be cleaned and put into another metal cube as needed. Even in abundance Ultimatum wanted to avoid waste. He took a moment to think through what was needed. Processors, parts for the limbs, and computer related materials. The computer stuff wasn't kept in this room as Ultimatum only truly used this for building the droid's form and pieces not final construction. "How about we work on the arms and legs while I have some droids collect the parts for some processor units?"

Zrixtas nodded to [member="Ultimatum"] and looked around a little for parts to use. "Well as far as they go we will need a pair of spherical joints for the shoulder and wrists of the arm, those would require advanced servos and motors to work the way we have discussed." He said as he found a few parts around in the room and placed them on the table. The parts he brought were most of what would be needed to build a pair of arms without the outer casing at least and it was easy to reinforce it if need be. He kept looking until he had found enough to build the bare minimum of the arms and legs of his new body but he didn't find anything that would constitute the extras that would be put into them at all.

Connecting a joint with a connector he spoke. "Tell me do you have thruster components in this facility, I am only asking since it seems to be developed for droid building if I'm not mistaken." His tone more curious than anything, after all there were few in the galaxy that could do what Ultimatum had done.

Ultimatum cataloged the joints, motors, and servos as necessary. He would look through the list of available resources he had within the facility. He then ordered six basic droid thrusters to be brought up from the collections area in the base. They would be there soon. "We have a large majority of parts that are used in droid construction. Thrusters are on our manifest and some will be brought here shortly. Actually I believe that most of the droids in this facility have thrusters." Ultimatum replied calmly as he looked at the parts on the table. In his mind he was constructing the droid, putting the pieces where he understood they were supposed to go. It was an interesting exercise that he enjoyed when he got the chance to do it.

"Oh? what is the reason for that?" He then asked as he finished the bare minimum required for the arm to look like an arm and then moved on to a leg. "Is it due to Mustafars topography?" He then finished asking as he looked over a joint with examining eyes. He felt that this new body would be enough for a long time to come and even if he'd ever switch bodies he'd keep this one as a memento of the time he had spent with a kindred spirit in building.

[member="Ultimatum"]

"That is a very good reason, but it was just the kindness of the company that built them for me. A much more profited droids manufacturer built all the droids that look similar to my design in this facility. He was a kind man, cautious when dealing with a droid, but most organics are. Droids that work for themselves tend to be crazy of rogue and normally they don't have a few million credits stashed away. It was after I told him about my original master that he was willing to trust me more. The manufacturer hates criminal business and liars, fortunately for me at the time the master I was running from was both." Ultimatum responded as he began connecting pieces for the ribcage like structure of the droid. After all, if a droid's vital portions were held there they would need some extra protection. Wouldn't want to have a sword dent in a piece of the metal skin and that smash a processor or something. He used pieces from around the room, which was organized contrary to what most organics believed. The amusing thing for Ultimatum was that he could actually have the entire facility in total darkness and still have his droids working at the same level of efficiency. Even so, he kept the lights, cooling units, refreshers, galley, and most other organic necessities attached to the mainframe. He even had practically a resort class view from the window in a suite for visitors. The fact that no organic had seen the inside of his facility yet was minor detail, after all there would be visitors someday.

Zrixtas nodded to [member="Ultimatum"] as he was finishing with the upper part of the leg he was working on. "Well that was a stroke of luck on your part then to have things fall so neatly into place for you that is." He responded and chuckled a little as he moved a wrench into his hand and then used it on the leg. "Ultimatum have you ever thought of a magnetic manipulator onto your arms to simulate telekinesis on metal?" He then asked as he had found the force to be immensely useful over his years of life and it might make some things easier to Ultimatum. He kept working on the leg thought and was soon started at the feet's connector.

"I haven't thought of that. It might work, but that would require quite a bit of complex inner workings. I should look into it a little later." Ultimatum responded as he pulled the last part of the cage into place. He lifted each of the pieces for the internal workings and placed them gently into the cage, he used a metal injector to attach the pieces to the cage. He didn't want to use a laser cutter or fuser because he didn't want to burn any of the pieces. He used a small remote arm to place the electronic connectors to the different parts internally connected. Next he looked at the processors, they had the necessary programming to translate the crystal's commands into binary for the droid and vice versa. "Do you think it would work? The magnetism I mean."

"I think it will but you will need to practice with it of course." Zrixtas replied as he finished one leg and then moved to start on the other arm, connecting it just like the other so that the internal workings could be worked on with ease. Once he was done with that he moved onto the other leg. "If you think about it, then it could also be used to knock out an enemy wearing heavy armor if the settings are placed on a high enough power." He then said as he looked at what [member="Ultimatum"] was doing and one of his hand moved up to grip around his chin as he began to imagine how the droid's parts would all fit together.

Ultimatum thought on that a bit more. To make the device really capable of magnetic manipulation would require complex devices creating separate magnetic fields. That would take much development to contain different fields so that they didn't adversely affect one another. The greatest difficulty, in Ultimatum's mind, was that the device would have to be able to do more than simply pull metal towards it, which would require more precise equipment. He would have to first magnetize the metal if possible then he would have to push back with the polar opposite. It was something of a difficult task to think through, though possible.

"I will look into that avenue, could be something worth getting there." Ultimatum said as he fitted some final pieces into the metal before closing it. He looked it over to make sure that it wasn't broken or any obvious weak points. He then turned his attention to the door as the droids brought in the thrusters. He figured that two could be placed in each of the droid's legs and then one in each arm.

Zrixtas nodded and then began to insert one of the thrusters that was brought in, into the leg he had just finished with. "Given how much metal is around you, with the tech you could in theory move the molten lava out of a river and throw it at an enemy or in front of him that at least should make them stop and think or even listen to you." He then said as a small spark erupted from a connector cable into the thruster he was working on. "It's ok just a small feedback loop didn't fry anything." He then said, feeling a little like he was back home learning how to build robots like when he was a child. He finished one thrusters installment and then moved onto another in an arm. "So how would we make these double as blasters? or should we put the blasters into the forearm plating itself?"

[member="Ultimatum"]

Ultimatum thought for a moment as he attached a hip connector to the lower body. He was thinking about possible ways to turn a thruster into a makeshift blaster. It was a complex problem with multiple difficulties to be sorted out. "I would suggest that we integrate a blaster into the arm, that is simply a good resource to have at your disposal. As for the thruster, my initial thought is that to make it turn into a ranged weapon it should have a way of adding more power to it for a single moment. This could create something like a explosive force that could be sent out the thruster. It might be little more than a stream of energy, so I doubt it effects will get very far. It would work as a close range weapon though."

"So basically we could charge them up to give a short range shock wave at someone within arms reach?" He asked as he finished placing the thruster in the arm and began fastening it and welding it like [member="Ultimatum"] had done with the chest. Thinking on it, he could do the same with the legs and that way get a long and high jump instead of having to slowly rise into the air with the thrusters themselves. "Could we do the same with the thrusters in the legs to achieve a sort like... super jump?" He felt like a child saying that last part but it was the only way he could explain it properly.

Ultimatum nodded as he explained, "That would be possible, though it would use the same amount of energy as a slow rise, meaning you don't want to be doing those jumps over and over again for extended periods of time. It would be useful for quick ascension or if you are oriented on a side a very long jump." Ultimatum was looking through the necessary adjustments that would need to be accomplished in order to achieve the wanted result. It would require something like a charger and a quick release, maybe similar in concept to afterburners, but not quite the same. He pulled one of the thrusters aside and opened it. The device had a basic design and Ultimatum was able to identify all the parts. If he could attach a charger right before thruster then that could hold extra energy and could be released on demand. He would also need to alter the thruster's output control. As with most of this time, these thrusters were built to avoid letting too much energy pass through in case of a draining too much energy too quickly. These adjustments would be easily done and Ultimatum could do them even with the thrusters installed. "I believe I have a solution..." He explained for a minute.

Zrixtas listened to [member="Ultimatum"] as he explained what they'd have to do to the thrusters to allow for the charging "Punches and jumps". "We could add a cooling regulator to the thruster to minimize the heat damage as well as a simple regulator to give a limited number of jumps to stabilize the structural integrity of the thrusters as well." Zrixtas then said after Ultimatum had finished explaining it all to him. In Theory it should work alongside the charger as well as improve it's performance without causing it to burn out too fast.

"The cooling unit would be preferred yes. That would allow for a larger output." Ultimatum responded as he moved away from the table, putting the arm down before he did so. He moved to a drawer and pulled out a cooling unit. It was a relatively new model not particularly special, just a basic cooling unit utilized by most companies for keeping droids from overheating in hot environments. It wouldn't have been a surprise that Ultimatum had them, since his droids were based in such a place.

He returned to the arm and moved the charger and thruster around. The arms would become a little difficult to change later on, space was always at a premium inside of a machine and this droid was no exception. The arm now had the thruster, charger, and cooling unit. It would hopefully work, but that was what the small electrical generator in the test room was for. Obviously he wouldn't want to test thrusters or blasting capabilities in his workplace. Damage done would not be easily cleaned in the case of some explosion or something. He put the arm aside for later use as he turned his attention to the rest of the body.

Zrixtas had kept working on placing the thrusters into the legs finding that doing it was sort of like a moving meditation for him. "A larger output would allow the thrusters to break a very high fall as well as increase the maneuverability achievable while in the air." He then said as if to add a little to what [member="Ultimatum"] had said but also as an indirect question to him as Zrixtas knew Ultimatum probably had more experience with these parts than Zrixtas had.
