STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

(+) Demolitions Expert- If it can be blown up, Dresden is the man to do it. He's not been formally educated or trained, but he's blown stuff up in nearly every part of the galaxy. Whether you need a controlled demo or a runaway nuclear reaction, he can make it happen.

(+) Rifleman- Dresden is a master of the art of the long rifle. Who needs fancy laser swords when you can put a bullet into a target's eye from 800 meters?

(-) Slowpoke- Not much of a runner. Give him a 50 kilogram ruck and tell him to hike up a mountain and Dresden can do it. Make him do wind sprints for five minutes and he'll likely pass out. As far as he's concerned, rushing is for people who want to die tired.

(-) Clumsy- Steady hands and nimble fingers make him hell on wheels for blowing stuff up, but overlarge feet and poor coordination with the rest of his body make Dresden about as agile as a three legged bantha.

APPEARANCE:
Dresden is tall, lanky, and has the sickly pallor of a man who spends too much time in space and not enough time breathing fresh air. With hands and feet that seem too large, arms and legs that seem too long, and a perpetual air of bemusement about him, most people would be hard pressed to guess that they were dealing with a deadly efficient demolitions expert or sniper.

Clothing wise, Dresden favors loose, nonrestrictive garments with lots of pockets. He almost always has several spare meters of detcord on hand, and it's safe to bet he'll have at least a kilo of detonite as well. Though he almost never does so, most will grudgingly admit that, when he combs his hair and puts on a suit, he cleans up well.

PERSONALITY:
To those who don't know him, Dresden often comes across as surly and ill-tempered. He's always got a sarcastic remark or barbed quip ready, and seems to take great pleasure in poking holes in egos. Strangers will often assume that he's just plain old mean. In reality, Dresden is a bit of an nerf herder, but for the most part, he's not so much malicious as brutally honest and clueless. He tries to soften the truth with humor, not realizing that the end result is often far worse than plain speech.

To those who do know him, Dresden is thoughtful and slow to anger. He's far more patient than any human has any right to be, perfectly willing to play the long game in favor of instant gratification. He prefers meticulous planning to spontaneity. Professionally, this often means that he'll arrive for a contract days or even weeks in advance of the specified start date, carefully putting into place multiple contingency plans in order to account for as many potential scenarios as possible. In the mercenary world, this has led to something of a reputation. No matter how bad things get, there's a backup plan for the backup plan for the backup plan, usually involving high explosives or precision sniper fire. Though this has saved many missions from complete disaster and countless lives, his uncanny ability to read a situation is considered spooky, and there are many mercenary companies that refuse to take a contract if they know he'll be there. Even professional soldiers tend to have their superstitions, and those that don't see the work he puts into making his own luck are convinced that it's only a matter of time before his good fortune runs out.

BIOGRAPHY: Dresden was born the son of middle class parents on a middle class world. Doomed to a life of mediocrity if he followed in his family's footsteps, he instead opted to join a mercenary company at 17, and spent a decade roaming the galaxy and learning all kinds of new and interesting ways to blow things up. It was there that he discovered his talent for exhaustive planning, and earned his reputation as spooky in the process.

After leaving the mercenary life at 27, Dresden took up a new challenge: marriage. The Alderaanian noble house Antilles offered up their youngest daughter in an arranged political marriage. They saw the young mercenary as a potential asset in defending their planet, and wished to bring him onboard. Though initially reluctant, Dresden accepted the contract after meeting his potential wife and immediately striking up a romance. Their marriage, though arranged, was happy, and less than three months later, his wife was pregnant.

Tragedy struck not long after. While out on assignment as the Lord General of the Alderaanian Military, Dresden's wife was killed in a freak airspeeder accident. Though an investigation determined that there was no foul play involved, he blamed himself for not planning for the eventuality. Grief stricken, he resigned his position as Lord General, recognizing that his emotions were clouding his judgment and impairing his ability to perform.

In the hopes that a change of assignment would help him recover, the Alderaanian Government made an arrangement with the Galactic Republic for their newest nobleman to take over as the head of the Senate Guard, an elite force dedicated to protecting the Senate from harm domestically. Though the move has helped a great deal, Dresden is still reluctant to return to Alderaan, fearful of the memories his house there might bring up.

After the collapse of the Republic, Dresden joined the First Order. Though not a huge fan of totalitarianism, he appreciates law and order, and saw them as the best chance for a galaxy sorely lacking in both.
