SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Crushgaunt Functionalities: The palms of the body glove follow the concept of the Crushgaunts where the hands are typically covered in a relatively thin layer of Mandalorian Iron, or Beskar. The reactive fiber, in combination with the lightsaber-resistant beskar platings, allow the wielder to crush things in their hands which would normally be seen as impossible, like heavy armor platings. The beskar has been combined with the use of carbon to make the substance significantly lighter, enough not to hinder the speed of the wielder.
  • Beskar-Protected Feet: The feet of the body glove are also partially covered with the use of carbon-beskar to provide situational protection.
  • Strength-Augmenting Reactive Fiber: The entire body glove is made out of the same reactive fiber as the crushgaunts mentioned above. The reactive fiber provides the wielder with a significant enhancement in terms of physical aptitude, making them strong and fast far beyond their species' natural capabilities.
Strengths:

  • Significant Body Enhancement: The reactive fiber typically used in crushgaunts provide the wielder of the body glove with a significant body enhancement. Increase in leg strength and upper core muscles allow for a massive boost in maneuverability, and the increase in arm strength allows one to lift many tons above one's weight. The reactive fiber, when used only for the palms, have been proven to have the strength to crush through Vonduun Skerr Kyrric, or Vonduun Crab Armor. Due to the reactive fiber being used through most of the body, the strength has increased exponentially.
  • Ionic Resistance: The body glove doesn't make use of anything which can be impacted by Ionic weaponry, meaning that the body enhancement doesn't falter at the exposure of an EMP.
  • Armor-Crusher: As aformentioned, the body glove's minimal potential would include the ability to squeeze - and in turn break - the infamous Vonduun Crab Armor. Due to the nature of the body glove, the armor would provide a means of crushing through the vast majority of armor types through well-delivered punches alone. This makes unarmed combat a viable method against kinetic-resistant armor, something which has been an obstacle for the Echani species.
  • *Beskar-Covered Palms & Feet: The Beskar that cover the palms and feet exist in order to provide protection to the limbs. Their punches and kicks are bound to come into contact with lightsabers and vibro-weaponry, the beskar meaning that their attacks won't result in the immediate severing of their limbs.
Weaknesses:

  • *Protection from Weapons: Whilst the palms and feet are covered in beskar, the rest of the body provides no real resistances against any conventional weapons. A blaster shot would go right through the fabric, and vibroblades and lightsabers would cleave through the wielder with ease. The body glove would typically need to be worn with other fabrics on top in order to provide any resistances against conventional weapons.
  • Fast-Moving Heavy Objects: The body glove does not function as an exoskeleton, meaning that the bone density's resilience is not impacted by the reactive fiber's augmenting capabilities. Whilst one can lift objects several times beyond their species' capacity, it does not guarantee the safety of one's bone structure and can possibly result in the breaking of arms, shoulders and legs. Whilst one can lift stationary objects without much risk, an object with a trajectory proves to be a danger. This is due to the fact that the object delivers an additional force of velocity, which creates complications. Whils tone's likely to stop the trajectory of the object, it will almost always guarantee bone damage to the limbs, the severety depending on its speed (a very heavy object moving extremely slow won't necessarily harm someone trying to stop its momentum, but if it moves extremely fast it will no doubt shatter bones on impact).
  • Environment: Unlike most body gloves, this one does not provide any resilience towards environmental hazards. It won't shelter from the cold, it won't protect your skin from the heat, and it certainly won't save you from depressurization in a vacuum. You could say it is quite the opposite to the body gloves of the Stormtroopers.
  • The Force: The body glove doesn't stand much of a chance against acts such as the Force Choke. Whilst a Mandalorian beskar'gam could reveal wrist-blasters to fire against the force wielder to let them disrupt the choke before its too late, the body glove has no such luxury. Force Pushes are also very effective methods against the wielder, since the body glove won't protect them as they get slammed into a wall.
  • Mastery: The prospect of the body glove is to make use of one's physical attributes in order to have an advantage against the opponent, something which requires a level of mastery in order to accomplish. Its extremely low level of protection, aside from palms and feet, mean that one is taking the glass cannon approach, which requires great skill. If you don't know how to deal with your opponent swiftly, it won't be difficult for them to cut right through you.

DESCRIPTION

One thing the Echani Mandalorians clan quickly realised was the Empire's heavy reliance on heavy armor and ranged weaponry in order to succeed. It was something that they were much against at the beginning of their indoctrination, though for the sake of their secret motives with the Echani Command, they covered their disdain towards these methods with a smiling facade. The secret motives were lost to time as the Echani became religious followers of the Mandalorian Religion, focusing around the god of destruction and change - Kad Ha'Rangir. They became more accepting towards the concept of utilising heavy armor, seeing the reasoning behind it. They too decided to adapt, though did so through methods which respected the beliefs of their true home planet, Eshan. Having seen the crushgaunts in action, the Echani - renowned for their skill in fiber manipulation - began making prototypes with the reactive fiber present in the gauntlets.

It resulted in a body glove of a dark texture that allowed one to perform physical feats that would be seen as nearly impossible without the use of the Force. An Echani was suddenly capable of lifting and crushing heavy objects whilst maintaining their grace, and their ability to close the gap was improved by a significant amount. It was a piece of technology exclusive to the Echani which allowed them to win with the use of their bodies rather than nifty firearms.

It allowed them to finally dance again.

This would mark the beginning of their path to glory as they began to fight in several wars in the name of the Mand'alor, Clan Tharos eventually being known as the 'Mandalorian Dragons'. The body glove represented the body of the dragon; it was the source of physical strength, but also of grace.

I like this submission but I have to admit that I had to double take and think about the submission. As it stands I'm going to say that the resistances do balance across the whole bodyglove.

There are just a few points I wish to raise.

Please link to the manufacturer, if clan Tharosdoesn'tt yet have a codex sub then please link to the character profile page.

The limited rating is meant to be focused down to one small group as per the template. Could you please specify who the use of this submission is limited to?

Just out of curiosity, does the mixing of Carbon into the Beskar make any difference to the strength of the material? Carbon not being as strong as Beskar.

Just an observation and a potential weakness, but most species bodies are not capable of lifting this weight, and their bones would come apart under the pressure. I would recommend you add some mention of this.

Please tag me back when you have read through this and decided how you with to proceed.

Thank you for reviewing this, means a lot! I'll respond to the critique in order:

  • I've not yet had the time to make the post in regards to Clan Tharos, as I've intended on doing it in the future. I've linked my character biography as you've requested!
  • I've used the 'Limited' Production due to me intending on making a group of fighters once I've submitted the codex post for Clan Tharos. Didn't think about having to specify a number since other Limited technologies have been approved without said requirement. I was imagining it being outfitted by around 100 - 200-ish people in total, though if you have a suggestion for a specific quantity, that would also be very appreciated.
  • According to the Legends Information that we have in regards to Beskar/Mandalorian Iron, we are given the knowledge that Carbon does not in fact alter the durability of the Beskar. Rather, it simply reduces the weight of it as Mandalorian Iron has a high volume. I have taken a screenshot where it shows the link and also the information you've requested. I highlighted it with a marker in order to make it easier to spot (did it on a touchpad, so it's definitely wonky lmao)
  • You're definitely right about that, and it was something I had done some research about. If you're able to lift something which is stationary, typically your bones won't suffer, something which has been noted many times where people have received adrenal kicks - allowing you to do something your body typically can't - and lifted heavy objects. The problem lies in if the object has a trajectory - whilst you might be able to lift the back end of a car, you might not be able to stop a moving car. I've added it so that heavy, fast-moving objects will almost always guarantee bone damage (something extremely slow won't cause much of an effect, similar to how a slow-moving car doesn't really harm a person they hit - the damage increases drastically with how fast it's moving). Hope that makes sense!

Hi, first it's awesome to see how much thought you've put into this.

So, I'll go through your points in order as well.

  • That's absolutely fine, thank you for making that change.
  • You don't need to specify a number, a limited rating is meant to be a small group, not a full faction, so what's the name of the group you're planning to outfit with the bodyglove. Tharos isn't something that I'd be too happy about accepting simply because if you go minor with them the limited rating means a small group of them.
  • I'd missed that, thank you very much for providing me that information. That's absolutely perfect.
  • Thanks for making that adjustment. Do you have a link to your source? I just did a quick browse of the web and I've found several articles stating bones can take about a ton of pressure before they break although the muscles and tendons would give far earlier, it would be quite useful in another submission I'm working on.
