Detailed Special Features

The DR-2 Phalanx Droid was designed to be much more durable and effective in combat than their smaller battle droid cousins. While other models may focus on outnumbering and overwhelming the opposition, the DR-2 is about out-muscling the opponent. These droids are not easy or cheap to build, but time and effort are put into each droid, thus making them killing machines.

Like all DR-X Series droids, DR-2's can link their optical sensors, creating a holomap, and transferring it to the designated commander. This creates a real-time tactical image that a potential leader can accurately judge threats without the droids having to communicate themselves. This will continue to function even after a droid is destroyed, still relaying information unless the head is dispatched as well.

The "bread and butter" of the DR-2, and the reason it is so expensive, is the large durasteel magnetically-sealed shield that is grafted onto it's hand. While somewhat unwieldy, this shield renders blaster fire against it almost useless, as the bolts bounce off of the magseal, and at close-range, can sometimes bounce back and damage the opposition. Slugs and most other energy-based weapons are also stopped by the shield, and lightsabers even have difficulty cutting through the dense metal.

These droids have been programmed with various maneuvers and tactics to best use their shields, hence the name Phalanx. These maneuvers include creating lines of defense to protect weaker troops and provide cover fire, charging into a hail of E-Webs in tight formation, or boxing in a group of infantry with shields raised.

Strengths:
+Made in Geonosis- These droids, assembled by either other droids, or free Geonosian labor, while not cheap to make, makes them cheaper than the average juggernaut droids, but not crazily so.
+On the Grid- Using their Sensory Grid technology, can create a battle map to help with strategic decisions.
+Trash Compactor Technology- Tough durasteel Magsealed shields make blaster fire almost obsolete from one side, and will effectively stop most slugs. Even lightsabers have a difficult time cutting through the tough metal, due to the amount of it. Even though the shield does not protect the entire body, it's tough armor will still stop plenty of otherwise deadly shots.
+Droid Perks- Has all of the benefits of being a Droid, including an infinite morale, ability to keep on fighting through damage, and no need for food, drink, or air.

Weaknesses:
-Dumb and Dumber- These things, despite all their strength, are not all that intelligent, and cannot make difficult decisions by themselves.
-Mad Haxx- The Sensory Grid could be hacked by a talented slicer, and reveal the location of where the information is going to, leading the slicer to the designated commander.
-Agents of...- Each DR-2 has an electromagnetic lock on the opposite side of the shield. This devise can be destroyed by being cut or broken.
-Stealthy... Not- These are front-line bruisers; they simply weren't made to be quiet.

DESCRIPTION
Dravis Rosilla created the concept for the DR-2 Phalanx Droid while studying the weaknesses of his previous droid, the DR-1. He decided to fill a niche that was sorely lacking in his droid-production; something competently dangerous on it's own, that could both protect his forces and deal some major damage. Thus, the DR-2 was invented.

The second line of droids in the DR-2 series of Battle Droids, the DR-2 is a tall juggernaut of a droid, charging into battle with a shield, and either a blaster rifle, or a vibrosword. They are directed easily, and can prove to turn the tide of battle against those unprepared for them

Their shields and Sensory Grid (mentioned above), make them an important bastion that can have a myriad of uses, whether as a defensive or offensive asset, to Dravis Rosilla, or any other clients of the Blacklist.
