ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Weapon Systems:

  • Thunderbolt: Twin eight-barrel designs on a ball turret firing off 30mm rounds.

  • Librae: An improved six-barrel design over its predecessor the Nimbus.

  • Ovmar: An anti-missile system utilizing nanomissiles, and a multi-target lock.

Defensive Systems:

  • Brel: A light particle shield meant to allow the firing of kinetic weapons with sacrificing full shield strength.

  • Archer Reactive Plating: Built over critical areas such as engines, bridge and other absolute key systems.

  • Intrepid: An emergency ablative armor to help the Dowager escape at the last moment.

  • Trilamnium: Where the Archer Reactive Plating System does not cover, the trilamnium overlay does.

  • Gravity Wells: Equipped with four gravity wells they serve to assist with interdiction of the battlefield.
Sensor Systems:

  • Phantom: A high-output short range jammer system helps the ship keep close by enemy vessels confused for a brief periods of time.

  • SIG 220: A tactical jammer that helps keep enemy sensors blocked and jamming communications.
Strengths:

  • Range: Most effective at long range the artillery battlecruiser aims to bring destruction from a distance.

  • Kinetic: Dowager nearly specializes in almost all kinetic weaponry those with conventional/particle shields may fair well, but those without are sure to pay.

  • Shields: Equipped with a redundant deflector shield with a retribution feedback, along with a light particle shield to help when firing the many kinetic weapons.
Weaknesses:

  • Range: Unable to fight effectively at short/standard range of combat the Dowager must keep her distance from opponents.

  • Cooldown: Most weapons require a small period of time between firing sessions or be faced with overheating issues.

  • Vulnerabilities: Kinetic and some ion weapons are weapon types that the Dowager is most susceptible to.
Description:
The Dowager project was developed as a way to effectively provide cover fire from distance. Acting as a spatial artillery piece the battlecruiser comes in at over three thousand meters. Utilizing mass driver and hypervelocity cannons along with modular warhead torpedoes, advanced mortars and railgun technology. This ship is more than able to perform its role as an artillery battlecruiser taking cover in the back of the formation shooting kinetic firepower at long range in an attempt to soften up enemy fleets.

Defensively the vessel has a Brel-type shield along with redundant deflector shields. The redundant deflector shields are equipped with a retribution feedback shield to aid in defense against typical turbolaser systems. While the Intrepid-type ablative armor acts as an emergency armor deploying at the last moment while the ship works up to head into hyperspace. Knowing that the Brel’s weakness is against turbolaser type weaponry. Engineers installed the Archer Reactive Plating System on the most critical areas of the ship. Laying trilamnium over the rest of the hull in lieu thereof. Other defensive systems include sensor jammers, anti-tractor beam shrouds, hims, and last but not least the gravity wells. Gravity wells on the Dowager allow her to keep enemies in place giving the fleet time to finish off their opponents.

Among her offensive systems, the battlecruiser boasts a number of Primo Victorian’s own weapon systems. The Hailstone ionized mass driver cannon system with the ability to field up to 512mm ionized shells. Longbow Plasma Railguns II, a once staple of the old Warspite II-type from the First Order now modernized. Caeculus 127mm, another First Order hold over formerly the Vulcan-type it too underwent a modernization. Georgiou-type advanced space mortar, a project that initially started out as a bomblet generator transformed into a devastating mortar. Storis-type hypervelocity cannon fielding 76mm shells.

Thunderbolt rotary cannons that are capable of firing 30mm shells with the ability to ionize them as well. Librae point defense lasers with more stopping power over the standard point defense lasers. Ovmar defensive missile systems designed for missiles and starfighters alike. These are split with standard anti-missile octets and rotary defense cannons.

Built as an artillery piece, the Dowager is not without her flaws. Meant for long range engagements she begins to fall short at standard and most certainly at close range. She alone is unable to fend off against vessels who come in close and relies heavily on her squadrons to keep tabs on enemy ships. While the ship is able to provide a tremendous amount of kinetic firepower the ship is self is still vulnerable to kinetic firepower. Her other flaws include an average to low resistance to ion type weaponry. The Dowager’s more obvious flaw is her low speed making it hard to evade opponents on the battlefield.
