She could see the hesitation in his eyes and she understood it. She had her own reservations about anything like this, but it was also impossible to deny that he felt different than her other friends did. Not that she had many to be honest, but this felt different than the ones she did have. She waited patiently, letting him work out his thoughts without pressure. He mentioned the night under the stars and she smiled, remembering it. He had been so easy to talk to and had saved her from spending the entire night alone and brooding. Perhaps she'd done the same for him too.
Even if you don't mean it the same way. I like this…
She blushed but didn't look away this time. She wasn't sure how she meant it, or really how he meant it either. Was this the time for the conversation? She supposed they were already having it, at least in a way. It wasn't the declaration of love conversation, even though she knew already that she did have love for him. She just wasn't certain if it should be romantic love. It wasn't quit right for
that conversation yet but they needed to have
some type of conversation to clarify what was going on.
Or did they even need that? It wasn't like either of them were running into anybody else's arms, at least that was the impression she got. She certainly was way too guarded to ever end up in a love triangle that was for sure, and he didn't seem like he had anybody else like this in his life. She supposed she shouldn't assume though. She should probably at least clarify what he meant by his feelings.
"Have you ever done something like this before? Like... " she motioned between the two like he had. He of course had heard her story. He knew she'd been married and left and the toll it had taken, but Katarine wanted to understand him too. She wanted to understand his hesitancy and his feelings and his history.
