Don't Look Back

[member="Coci Heavenshield"]

Taygeta stepped off of the shuttle, inhaling deeply before looking around. She felt the sunlight, saw its colour, and smelled the ambient scents. There were sounds of people and animals alike on this new world, this foreign world. Right before her, however, was the Temple itself. This, she knew, was the place where people just like her became Jedi. The young scientist was nervous, but this was the Unknown. For once, perhaps, her curiosity wasn't going to get her into trouble, but rather might be her saving grace.

"This is Voss...." she said, staring up at the building. "... Master Heavenshield... what should I be doing?" she asked, her hands wandering up to take hold of her open lab coat as a breeze blew into it.

Coci turned to the young girl and placed both her hands on her shoulder for reassurance. Everything had happened so quickly, she had lost her former life due to the intrusion of the Sith, although Taygeta was not the first to experience this or the last, but she had good fortune and the force on her side and will be better for it.

"Firstly, I shall get you settled in some quarters of your own here in the Temple. Then take the time to look around and meet people. You will find the Jedi are friendly and welcoming. And when you are ready, seek out a master to begin your training", she began as Coci encouraged Taygeta through the main doors.

"There medical facilities are attached to the Temple to the right, there you can set up a lab to continue your work. I know this is a lot to take in and you will be unsure of this for a while, allow yourself this it is only normal to feel apprehension".

Taygeta would venture forth into the Temple, slowly and apprehensively at first, but she soon found courage. She'd walk with Coci, letting her lead on through the unfamiliar surroundings.

Looking around, she noted many people of various races and ages going about their business. She was just a little shy and felt even more so when some of these new faces looked in her direction. She probably looked a mess, too. She still had only a loose tunic, flared trousers, a lab-coat, and her simple, but comfortable sandals. The wide headband and glasses just added to the somewhat nerdy, but care-free look that screamed 'bookworm', especially with the datapad in her hand.

She turned to look in the direction of where the infirmary was. If it had a lab, she'd probably spend alot of spare time in there, doing research and attempting to satiate a scientist's curiosity. "... I see... Is there anyone that uses that lab often that I'll be working with or is it generally unclaimed territory?" she asked curiously.

Passed the large blue crystal that sat in the center of the room, and onward to the sweeping stair, Coci lead Taygeta. She had noticed the young girls gaze toward the doors that would lead to a corridor to the medical bay and labs beyond those. "I believe Master [member="Maya Whitelight"] and Master [member="Matsu Ike"] might use the labs from time to time, but for the most part you would have full access to them and whatever your need to continue your research".

They walked along the long suspended corridor toward the turbo lifts that would take them up to the residences. "When you are settle more, I would suggest you seek them out and say hello. Master Whitelight is our master healer and Master Ike works extensively in research and development of all manner of things".

Coci opened the lift doors and indicated for Taygeta to enter and she soon followed. The lift would taken them up and soon the passageway to the quarter are before them. "But firstly lets get you quarters and you can rest until you feeling the urge to adventure out into the Temple".

Taygeta followed and listened, taking in the sights and sounds of the Temple. "Okay, awesome." she said, considering the lab as a likely place to centre herself. But surely this place had a library, too. Theed University's library was a place of peace and solace for the young Ph.D. It was, next to the lab and her lonely dorm, her preferred hang-out spot on campus. "There's a library here, too, I'd imagine?" she asked.

She made a point to memorise the name of [member="Maya Whitelight"], in particular. Boarding the lift, she'd go with the Jedi master to the dormitory floor. When they arrived, she'd step off of the lift and looked around. It sort of resembled a large-scale apartment complex, although she wondered how much living space each room had. Her dorm wasn't very big back at school, she remembered. It wasn't extravagant, but she had, over time, decked it out with colourful decorations and modest furnishings. It , frankly, looked like the room of a hippy sorority girl, sans the illicit spice paraphernalia and empty bottles of alcoholic beverages. Taygeta never was big on frat parties, but she DID have a penchant for singing when inebriated... hence why she didn't drink as often other young women her age.

"Which rooms are vacant?" she asked, assuming each in this sector of the Temple were the same in size and layout. Considering she didn't have alot on her person, she didn't presently need alot of space anyway.

"Yes there is a extensive library here in the Temple, which is always open", The truth is that a Jedi Temple never closes it's doors. At least not the Silver Temple. "That is located on the ground floor toward the back of the Temple, it is easy to find if you wander about", she smiled.

"You will find the quarters are not fitted out with much, but to start you off with the essentials. Over time of course you can turn it into your own world, but please keep in mind as you progress through the ranks as a Jedi your quarters will change and you will move to the Knight quarters and so on".

As for what rooms were available, Coci did not know, but checked the control panel on the wall to see. "It appears there is a room toward the end of this corridor which I believe has a great view of the meditation gardens beyond that". She looked at Taygeta to see if that appealed to her.

"That's alright. My college dorm wasn't much, itself. You can't go wrong with a good beanbag chair, though." she said with a smile. Frankly, she was happy be somewhere safe and to have the ability to return to as normal a life for her as was possible. She made her way to the room and opened it. Inside was a window that let in light and a view to the gardens outside. She figured immediately that a stroll through that area would likely provide good specimens.

"So, I'd like to meet Master Whitlight if she isn't indisposed." she said, setting her datapad down on a table. "I wonder... Has anyone ever considered indexing the life forms on this world?"

She remained just over the threshold of the room to allow Taygeta to get familiar with her new quarters. The view to the outside is calming and pleasant to the eye and designed that way for meditation. Coci smiled at the girls constant inquisitive nature, she will go very far as a Jedi let alone a scientist and one to be watched over the years to come.

"I am sure Master Whitelight would be very interested to meet you as well. You will find her around the Temple or .. in the gardens", she walked in now and to the window. "If there is anyone in the Silver Jedi that has indexed the plant life it will be her. You see that orchard in the distance?", she pointed to the back wall of the mediation gardens, "Years ago now, Master [member="Maya Whitelight"] planted that orchard and nurtured it, now it is a place of beauty and relaxation. I know that our previous grand master used it a lot. Master Whitelight can tell you more of the history of it. She is also a herbalist and the woman you need".

"Now I shall leave you to get settled, there are service droid around that you can summon if you require anything at all, they will see to it for you", she said turning to Taygeta, "You must be tired, I know I am".

"Welcome to Voss and the Silver Jedi", she finally said before departing.

Taygeta turned to Coci with a smile and a nod. "Thank you, Master Heavenshield.... for bringing me here and welcoming me. You quite possibly saved my life, too... either literally or figuratively I hope I never truly know." she said. And the Jedi was right. Taygeta was tired, indeed. That bed looked VERY inviting at the moment.

Taygeta sat down and unzipped the backs of her sandals to remove them, then removed the lab coat, which she'd fold up and place on the table. She'd have to get to clothes shopping, although she had only a small amount of cash on her. She'd have to jump on employment in the lab as soon as possible, but until then, she'd be on a budget. "I guess I will take a nap, then. is there a common eating time or am I on my own for that?" she asked.

She mentally made a to-do list, finding Master Whitelight topping it, whens he finished her rest.
