PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Kiribian Systems Armory
  • Affiliation: Closed-Market
  • Model: N/A
  • Modularity: No

  • Production: Limited (Typically employed on select special warfare platforms and flagships.)
  • Material: Common Materials
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Special Jammer/Interdictor/Extreme Emplacement (20 Points)
  • Size: Large
  • Weight: Heavy
  • Ammunition Type: Generator
  • Ammunition Capacity: N/A

  • Reload Speed: N/A
  • Effective Range: Long Range (Capital Grade)
  • Rate of Fire: N/A
  • Stopping Power: Very Low
  • Recoil: None
Strengths:
  • Can disrupt the operation of dovin basals and basic mass detectors.
  • Military grade hardening against EMPs and ion weapons. The projector will temporarily shut down in the event the hardening fails.
  • Can be toggled between jamming and interdiction mode.
Weaknesses:
  • Extreme emplacement, and one that is non-lethal on top of that, so it's an especially costly addition.
  • In jamming mode, each projector can only target one vessel at a time. unless several are bunched up in a tight formation.
  • The projecting ship is unable to utilize its own hyperdrive for FTL travel while Dolus is active in any mode.
DESCRIPTION

Shortly after Jyoti's return to active duty, she found herself engaging the forces of the Clans of Mandalore (formerly the Mandalorian Empire) on the hospital world of H'ratth. As per usual, General Kaine Australis was present as the ringleader of the opposition, fielding his usual assortment of Vong-inspired bioweapons. Expecting another round of prolonged conflict with the Mandalorians, the Echani set about working on neutralizing his monstrous creations next time around.

One of the first products of her new project was a series of specialized pulsemass generators that can disrupt the operation of a dovin basal by means of spoofing. The generator works by projecting mass shadows that can precisely mimic the signature of projectiles like missiles or slugs. This mass shadow then creates a false positive and triggers a passive dovin basal into reacting with the generation of a singularity for defense. Dozens of such mass shadows can be continuously projected in rapid succession with varying signatures and sequences, thereby confusing dovin basals and wearing them down over time. Ideally, gaps are created as the dovin basals are overworked, giving attackers a much easier time penetrating defenses.

While originally meant to target dovin basals, the platform is also effective at spoofing more conventional mass detectors. When used in this way, it's best combined with conventional jamming technology for a full spectrum approach.

Dolus pairs especially well with stutter fire, as well as Slingshot enabled missiles to devastating effect, these particular systems already good at exploiting the mechanics of dovin basals.

Being a pulsemass generator, it can be toggled into a alternative mode for interdiction purposes. As an interdiction platform, it has a relatively short range compared to full sized gravity well generators, so a Dolus unit works much better at preventing escapes rather than yanking vessels on ingress through hyperspace.
