D'oh-nut

Because there was still work needing to be done, [member="Honoko"] would perhaps help get the finishing touches for the project started so long ago that would finally come to an end. First the CIC, next the buffet and finally another area that needed to be worked on: the sickbay. This was another item of concern for the First Order authorities: they could be demanding, overbearing even, at times for the largest ships that could fly in this galaxy. She wanted to learn medical stuff, she will. But around Jessica, there were things whose installation began: surgical beds, cauterizers, the doppraymagno... Doppraymagnos... ugh! Why did that healer-on-a-hoverchair that was so bad, even these Geonosians didn't trust her, wanted me to drink caf before a neuropsychological evaluation? I knew that the increase in mental activity from caf would invalidate a doppraymagno, she thought, distracted by the mere thought of doppraymagnos while they are being installed. Also Jessica would get to collect the Sephi padawan, fresh from Midvinter, where this ship was stationed in orbit to support of the Silver Jedi armies, which took a large amount of casualties on Midvinter:

"Welcome back, Honno. Now is the time for you to learn the medical stuff you asked for back on Voss"

So much death! And wounded! The Triage couldn't do everything, and even Jessica would have to do some of the healing work. This one time where she could wear the robes of the Silver Jedi, which were given to her to test back on Elom, where the project began.

Honoko had arrived half an hour earlier and had began procuring Materials. before turning up to the meting.
" Thank you [member="Jessica Med-Beq"] i prefer helping others as opposed to hurting others.. well unless i need to." she admitted.
dammit she hated being next to these jedi chicks they all looked... floaty? was that the word?
they all looked well more feminine than her.
here she was in combat boots and trousers and a vest that was more grease than cloth.

"If the Sith Inquisitor newspaper is correct, the Sith Order has had a deficient invasion protocol: they deploy Graug on the ground, and they had no attack craft. Plus Graug infantry had no weapons, no anti-vehicle or anti-aircraft units, nor did they have ground vehicles"

By now it's clear that I am going to be training Honoko until someone actually in the Silver Jedi can train her. However, Yula, the owner of the newspaper, would be the first to tell that, even if they did deploy attack craft, they would be using these tin cans of death they call TIE fighters, interceptors or bombers, and that Omarest Croscal, or Thaddeus Krell, the highest-ranked naval officers of the Sith Order, are actually officers that live on the coattails of the Zambranos; she estimated that even Julie Jutland was a better officer than they were, she thought, while she led [member="Honoko"] to one of the medical wards of the ship, large enough to house two patients in its current condition. The Silver Army made a valiant stand against the Sith Order, which treats armies as expendable assets, at the cost of many lives: more patients were brought to the unfinished sickbays through the aft hangar bay. Once she is in position with the patients...

"One final warning before we begin: I'm sure you will heed it because you are pretty early in your learning curve, but I know so many who don't, Mando or not, especially those who wait until they get more advanced to learn it. Do not expect near-instant healing every single time: Kami told me that her lung cancer took well over seven hours to be cured using Force-healing"

Honoko looked over too [member="Jessica Med-Beq"] " Honestly that was Kami looking tough. it took her over a week. " she admitted.
she fallowed the jedi sistening.
" I just want to help people in any way i can. " she admitted " I figure it'd be something akin to an advanced form of mechanics. "

"Yes, I know that medicine is often perceived as an advanced form of biomechanics"

It took Kami over a week? Kami might have spent a week onboard that battlecruiser because the protocol for cancer surgery, Force-induced or not, required about that much hospitalization time before she could leave the hospital, with cybernetic lungs in tow. Yes, Cathul was a vastly better Force-healer than Jessica was, but there was only 7 or so hours under Force-healing. [member="Honoko"] would now be facing her first patient on her right. Jessica's patient, to her left, had a pretty straightforward injury to cure with Force-healing, with local anaesthesia required. Then she would begin using the Force to administer local anaesthesia. Patients were also coming in to the other sickbay wards of the ship: there were just too many injured Valkyri, Rangers and Silver Army soldiers to treat, overwhelming the ability of the hangar bay to house and handle them. Especially given these snails they called ambulances that the SJO contemplated replacing after about six or so years in service.

"Don't forget: make your diagnosis first, and then use the Force to carry out the appropriate procedures. Using the Force for healing does not excuse you from taking precautions conventional procedures otherwise need. That being said, if you think anaesthesia (local or general) is required, do it before the actual procedure. Try what I taught you on the patient to your right"

" her lungs were shredded remember? most of the recovery was getting over the internal bleeding. "
she admitted noteing the look on [member="Jessica Med-Beq"]'s face.
" Im not too sure about diagnosing ailments. wounds is one thing. i'm no diagnostician " Honnko admitted honestly it was better to admit your failings and not endanger anyone before it came to that.
" Im more than willing to admitt my short falls"

"Healing wounds is a starting point: you may use Force-sense to locate wounds and then try to repair the wound. To your right is one wounded patient with a clearly visible wound: often when wounds are big enough, it is better to use the Force to put the patient to sleep first"

Now that [member="Honoko"] mentions it, it is true that Kami needed some blood transfusions over the period where she was hospitalized, and that surgical procedures like transplanting cybernetic lungs required blood transfusions. Also, she knew combat medics often tended to deal with injuries of varying level of severity more than anything else. Jessica could sense that other equipment was being delivered to that ward, just behind her. The patient she just treated must be immobilized until the time taken by the medical protocol is up; he is taken to another hospital bedroom onboard. By now the droid nurses wasted no time bringing out another patient to her. It seems that thousands got injured just because of the sheer scale of the engagement: the Sith Order attacked in force, but if what the newspaper says is correct, their ground army got nearly entirely wiped out; then again, heavy casualties are par for the Sith course in ground combat. Yula therefore made a favor to Maladon's forces, she thought.

[member="Jessica Med-Beq"]

" You just happen to have an injure person around? " she joked.
well she assumed using the force as a sonar would work.
it was a big gash down to the bone the ribs clearly viable she tried to figure out how to put the person to sleep.
she tried to block the pain receptors and tried to sugest the person fall to sleep.

"Using the Force as a sonar or ground-penetrating radar, depending on the context, is what Force-sense/sight is"

While [member="Honoko"] was busy putting the person under anaesthesia, Jessica wasted no time detecting the injury on the injured ranger. Much like the patient Honoko treated, the ranger took injuries that suggested the Graug that attacked him used a sword aimed at his ribcage. Much like many patients that were still on the ship in several aft wards. Her fellow medical teams reported that the enemy left their injured Graug to die on the frozen wastelands of Midvinter; more than ever, it was obvious that the Sith Order treated their armies as expendable. Given the brutally ineffective tactics of the Sith army, provided that what Commonwealth intelligence reported is correct, the ranger must have been at the vanguard of the Rangers. It often seems that the Sith Inquisitor is really little more than a Commonwealth intelligence front sometimes, she thought, even though the main areas where the SI is circulated are in the traditional Sith turf: the Stygian Caldera in the east and the Pacanth Reach in the west. And, of course, Glyss, Ringo Vinda.

"It seems most of the Silver Army patients we have here today have been taking sword, axe or spear hits. The Sith armies are brutally ineffective"

" Yeag these are hacks. ive seen guy's on a few planets with this virus that destroyed there brains. were in a almost perpetual berserker rage. one girl has her.. " she indecated her chest. " carved off and she was laughing as a group ate them. the girl lived for month's. " she said matter of factually.
she said as she was trying to stimulatr the bone to heal and blood to coagulate.
[member="Jessica Med-Beq"]

"Graug I think these things are called, and, if I was Thurion, I would launch an attack on Fornow or something like that"

All over the ship, crews were putting the finishing touches to the ship's medical facilities. The medical equipment being almost fully operational, the prototype of the Lucrehulk-X should now be ready to be re-submitted to the First Order regulatory authorities. This time around there should not be any residual issues for the ship to be allowed to launch and the project to get underway as planned. Jessica worked so hard for years, and even Charzon when she lived, the Lucrehulk-X being the Butcher of Korriban's pet project, hopefully there would be no further delays. Six years of hard work, almost seven, and the development hell that is so common in the spacecraft industry (the Darr Itah has also been rumored to have been delayed for a similar span of time, if not more) is coming to an end. [member="Honoko"] would probably take some time until she is finished but Jessica's warning will come right when it is necessary, that is, when Honoko's intervention is coming to a close.

"Remember: using the Force to heal patients' injuries does not excuse them from requiring recovery time afterward"

" Got you . " Honoko shoved the image of the girl laughing as she was hacked up and then ate her.
" Um [member="Jessica Med-Beq"] how do i stimulate tissue regeneration? im thinking of stimulating white blood cells and tissue growth."
Honoko asked getting invested in all of this it wasn't her field of expertise but it felt slightly familiar slightly like Mechanics.
as different as you could get while being as close to it as you coyld get.

"By white blood cells, you mean platelets, but yes, you may attempt to stimulate tissue growth. However, don't go overboard with the second bit: you may cause cancers if you do so too quickly or stimulate tissue growth too much. And that's part of why some stuff may take hours to cure"

[member="Honoko"] accepts that tissue regeneration is part of the game when it comes to curing battle injuries. She accepts that she may be more of a combat field medic than an actual Force-healer, but sometimes being an effective combat medic is more than just healing the common battle injuries, but that's what Detoxify Poison is for. Some Force-healers make the distinction between Detoxify Poison and Detoxify Poison in Another, but Jessica isn't one to make it, especially not given the physico-chemical knowledge she does have; while she doesn't know much about organic, inorganic or organometallics, she does know that more complex poisonous molecules need to be broken down multiple times at the molecular level Speaking of Detoxify Poison, she has to use it on one patient that got a bad case of poisoning and frostbite: who knew that these Graug would have weapons infused with poison? In that case, removing the poison comes before the frostbite.

[member="Jessica Med-Beq"] was barking orders. Honoko loved that.
" sure i considered that im spot welding. sort off. and trying to boost the immune system. " Hono admitted as she stimulated the healing.
she augmented the white blood cells to kill the toxins. while still stimilating healing.

"I guess, that is one way to look at it"

Toxins? Perhaps, if these were bacteriae, parasites or viruses producing them. White blood cells would help against infections that occur at the site of injuries, all right, just that it may be of no use against poisons. Just that she knew that several of those people who fell through the cracks of the Force-sensitivity detection grid in childhood due to a false-negative were trained later in life; those who excelled in chemistry or condensed-matter physics among that group tended to excel at things like Detoxify Poison or Art of the Small. She could readily say that excelling in a certain field to the point one would be able to major in it as an undergraduate would make certain Force-powers come more easily, but anything more advanced would probably be overkill. Physics and many engineering specializations seemed to provide the foundations for a wide array of Force-powers. Like mechu-deru in [member="Honoko"]'s case. Or Jessica's case. But now that the poison part of the patient is taken care of, Jessica puts the patient to sleep, using general anaesthesia, to cure the frostbitten part as well as the injuries around the frostbite, doing precisely what Honoko claimed she was doing, because the intense cold took a toll on the patient's immune system.

"Boosting the immune system is not of much aid when your patient is poisoned. That's what Detoxify Poison is for. When you use Detoxify Poison, you are breaking down poisonous molecules"

[member="Jessica Med-Beq"]
" Got you. i misunderstood you i assumed you were talking about toxoplasmosis and infection. still breaking toxins down at the molexular level sounds about right. .." she trailed off windering to herself.
"" Master Med-Beq can you rearrange a Toxin in to somethine help full at a molecular level?"

"Oh yes, I bet you could. Art of the Small calls upon precisely things of that nature, like molecular manipulation"

Art of the Small, oh Art of the Small, where the ability to quantize the Force is a key asset: the two Quantum Witches were ladies for whom that Force-power came easily, but quantum magic was not something that the run-of-the-mill Force-user would master without a solid grounding in physics. How good is Honno at chemistry, condensed matter physics or atomic, molecular and optical physics? She might be implicitly learning Art of the Small, but often I asked these Mando Jedi to learn some chemistry or condensed matter physics, depending on their mathematical ability, when they wanted to learn Art of the Small in conjunction to mechu-deru, she thought, while she realized that she might have scared away some Mandos - but mechu-deru was already cognition-intensive in its own right. Now the patient was slowly getting the frostbite cured, with blood circulation restored, the patient would also be sent to the ward for resting. And not just because the frostbite covered a pretty extensive area. It was almost time for [member="Honoko"] to set out and apply what she learned to the other patients on deck, victims of the harsh cold of Midvinter that they were.

" Probably a bit beyond me at the moment [member="Jessica Med-Beq"]. before i get some more training and learn more chemistry i'd rather leave that in the future. "
She admitted be fore do ind more harm than good.
she needed to learn more and learn to crawl before she ran.
it was all well and good to learn a few new tricks. but it was a different matter to use it in the field for one thing.
she needed to use it practically before using it theoretically.
