Does my avatar need to resemble my character?

I don't have a picture that actually looks like my character. Will anything do?

It could always be something related to your character. For instance, Katar has big green cat eyes and dark brown hair, and also loves animals.

Your avatar does need to resemble that of your character. yes. You can't have a picture of a green frog when you are a human.
