As the Commodore made his impromptu exit, Pharazon detailed for a squad of the honour guard to accompany him as he made whatever preparations he needed for what had taken him away from his somewhat derailed tour. Ensuring all of the guests were secured within the turbolifts and surrounded by Stormtroopers as they were whisked away to the heights of the great and imposing edifice of the command tower. Travelling inside one of the turbolifts, Pharazon was curious if there was any other way into the command module of the tower. Cutting the turbolifts in the event of an enemy force breaching the tower was all well and good for immediate tactical defence, but how did one then get out of the module. He supposed there was likely stairs or some kind of maintenance ladder system to allow physical access to all levels and components of the tower, but if there was, how would one then defend those? Pharazon continued to amuse his mind and his wit with these minimal tactical and strategic quandaries, he would not dare attempt to stall the presentation by bringing them up himself as only a mere Lieutenant. However, he dreamed of being more one day and so he tried to keep his mind quick and sharp, always questioning and analysing to the best of his ability.
As the turbolift surged to the command module far above ground level in the command tower, Pharazon and the rest of the guests filtered out of the lifts inside through the reinforced chambers toward the gleaming naval command centre Pharazon could see inside. Pharazon had seen some of the stormtrooper facilities lower in the tower before the presentation after he and his men had been deployed to the planet, the barracks, armouries, training facilities and other facilities for stormtrooper operations within these bases. He had been impressed, not only did they have the equipment, supplies, and facilities that he needed. However, Pharazon also surmised that the reason they were based lower in the tower was to also defend it from the inside in the event of an enemy breach, his previous question about who would defend a breached garrison effectively answered in the affirmative. Still, Pharazon was in many ways a pragmatist, the facilities were good for him and his men, but they also protected the naval command centre from below in event of combat inside the modules. One could not expect those pale and wispy naval officers to defend themselves.
Inside the naval command module they were about to be, however, and so Pharazon and his men encompassed the oncoming party to the rear, left, and right, now very much so a guard, honourable still but they were wary now. The screens, command and uplink equipment, commlinks and tactical and strategic displays all shined and flashed as they demonstrated the scale of the processing and logistics this facility was capable of. Pharazon could see just from a quick glance at one of the displays closest to them to sate his curiosity that this centre was fully capable of planning, commanding, and facilitating communication for at least an entire fleet on orbit. When combined with the facilities for the planetside military personnel one apparently could run quite the war from within this module alone. When supported by the other hangars, maintenance modules, shield generators, and colossal power modules, one could dominate a planet or indeed a whole system from a base such as this. Colour Pharazon’s secret ambitions for conquest and domination impressed.
As the sealing doors opened to reveal their new host, Pharazon confirmed his suspicion that the module was designed to be shut off in the event of an attack. He also approved of the two reinforced chambers, more choke points were always nice to have in order to mount a successful defence. An admirable defence mechanism indeed to deny the enemy for an extended period of time should they wish to take the base relatively intact Pharazon mused as he kept an eye on the two he now knew both to be Ren disciples.
In regards to the General, he did not seem to have that wild ambition of the Commodore, and appeared quite perturbed that he was now required to lead this inspection to Pharazon’s court experienced eyes. Pharazon was not certain about his opinion of this man and was more concerned about the quality of this man’s character than the Commodore’s. However, Pharazon refused to allow his preconceptions to dominate his perceptions, so he decided to observe this general for a time more before coming to a firmer opinion of the man, his character, and his abilities.
Pharazon could only hope he was going to share some specifics of the command centre’s systems, if he was to be here anyway on duty he may as well learning something for future use and reference.
