Divine Readings (Jason Arkada)

Location: Skysitter Restaurant, Galactic City, Coruscant.

Jorda Ulluto, Zeltron infochant, sat at the bar at one of the most exclusive restaurants in Galactic City, the Skysitter Restaurant. The five-star restaurant sat atop a 1,000 meter spire rising high above the cityscape, the entire structure rotating, allowing its customers a complete, panoramic vista of the skyline. A social butterfly who was connected to everyone from senators to crime lords, Jorda had pulled some strings with the owner in order to get a coveted table.

The curvaceous Zeltron had come to the establishment to meet a blind date, a psychic named [member="Jason Arkada"]. She was dressed impeccably in a short little silver number with a large black feathered color that covered her cleavage, but exposed a generous amount of leg. She also wore patent leather black pumps with heels so high they looked like they might cripple most women. From his profile picture, she figured he'd probably be dressed suitably for a restaurant such as the Skysitter. She hoped at least he'd wear a jacket and tie.

While she waited, she ordered a Sonic Servodriver, a double. Being a Zeltron afforded her the ability to drink as much as she liked with little worry of overdoing it. However, she had to admit, some things weren't worth doing unless they were done in excess.

So, you don't usually see Jason on a date. Maybe he was just bored and wanted to do something. Well, C.U.P.I.D. helped with that. He was going to a restaurant on Coruscant to meet Jorda Ulluto. Jason wanted to wear something decent although the planet was filled with darkness. But he wasn't biased towards a side. The clothes he wore was a nice jacket. Walking into the restaurant, he located the woman and walked over to her. "Hey." he said sitting down.

"Hello there, you must be Jason." Jorda said with a broad grin, flashing her white teeth, the product of the most expensive orthodonists on Zeltos. "I'm Jorda." She held out a red-skinned hand for him to shake. Her demeanor was friendly but practiced. Not phony, just calculated. She noted the expensive tailoring on his jacket and his nicely cut hair and was delighted to find he was even handsomer in person than his profile picture.

"I understand you're a psychic? Such an interesting profession. I believe our table is ready if you'd like to join me. And then I'd love to hear all about it."

He nodded when she made the statement of who he was. Then when she introduced herself, he shook her hand. "Nice to meet you." he said with a tiny smile. Again, dating wasn't like walking to him. "Yep. And that sound fine." he said as he would follow her.

The couple were taken to their table by a Bothan in a tuxedo jacket and promptly given menus and a wine list. She had to admit, Jason seemed pretty out of the dating game, and so she smiled as sweetly as she could to help put him at ease. Jorda also emitted some pleasant pheromones typical of her species in order to cloud their table with a euphoric sensation.

He gave him a wide grin as she sipped her Sonic Servodriver. "So tell me, Jason. What's it like being a psychic?"

Jason sat down as he set the menu aside. He wasn't much of an eater although humans had to eat to have a healthy life. Eating for him was just breakfast everyday. Something about his diet wasn't normal. "Most people think I can tell them about future fortunes and personal life but its not that easy. I get visions through the force mostly even its said that its rare. I think its good being a psychic. You help people and keep authority in good hands." he said ordering some water. Drinking wasn't his cup of tea either unless he trusted the environment.

Noticing that her date shunned both food and liquor, Jorda absently wondered if Jason were some sort of replicant. When their Bothan waiter returned to the table, he cast an irritated glance at the man and then turned to Jorda with a simple, "Your order Miss?" Jorda ordered a simple Covado salad with the dressing on the side and then looked over at Jason. "Not sure if my friend here is hungry I'm afraid."

"You can't really blame people for being curious about their futures," she said with a shrug. "But it's good that you enjoy your job. I would assume that a psychic would be in very high demand in the galaxy. You must make a very nice living at it." She smiled coyly and added, "I have no doubt that your clients are in capable hands indeed."

He gave the waiter a smile. He'd always been taught to be positive unless the situation said different. "Some things... I cannot answer. Some people don't act the way they promise when I tell them there future." he said looking down but back up. "Yea, I make a lot of credits. I'm very close to buying a mansion. Not that I need one but it'd clear my mind off things. They're in dangerous hands no matter what their future is. But some know how to control it and keep living the way they do."

"Dangerous hands, eh?" Jorda wasn't exactly sure what the young man meant by that comment, but she didn't pry any further. She smiled at him with a curious expression. "So how does it work? Your psychic power? Can you read minds? Palms? Do you need to actually touch the person you're reading? Or can you do it from anywhere?"

She looked down almost shyly, which wasn't an easy feat for a Zeltron. "Sorry for all of the questions, I'm just curious. As you probably know my species are telepaths themselves, but I can only read emotion. I can't actually foretell events. So what you do is fascinating to me."

Before he answered, he grabbed his glass of water and drank some of it. "I use my surroundings and key senses to find out the basics. Then, I look deep into the mind by asking questions. If I need to, I use telepathy as another option. That's mostly if someone is lying." he said setting the glass down. He heard her apologize and gave a smirk. "The pleasure is mine. Telepathy isn't the easiest to accomplish due to the mind. Reading emotions is like reading a book that terrifies you with every word you read. Maybe I'm exaggerating but the mind is capable of anything." he finished realizing his lecturing.

As a Zeltron with empathetic powers of her own, Jorda understood what he was talking about. While she wasn't psychic, she knew how distracting it was to get caught up in another being's emotions. She absently wondered if the desire to numb themselves manifested itself in the Zeltron's people saturnalian love of drinking and partying. Probably.

He probably knew what was coming next, but she couldn't really help it. How do you go on a date with a psychic without asking the very question begging to be asked. "So let's put this to the test, Jason. What am I thinking?"

The question wasn't something he knew how to find out. By his terms, psychic meant looking into the future, past or present. He had to tell her he couldn't answer that though. "Hmm. I can't answer that, not because your thinking something bad. I'm not that kind of psychic." he said raising his cup and sipping some water.
